JustAnswer Customer: my bosch induction hob won't turn on - have checked power supply all good with an led light showing.
JustAnswer Customer: any ideas of a diagnostic I can do?
Pearl Wilson: Assistant: Can you guesstimate how old your Bosch is?
Pearl Wilson: Assistant: And just to clarify, what's the exact model?
JustAnswer Customer: about 3 years, model is a question I don't have the answer to I remember it began PIE
Pearl Wilson: Assistant: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
JustAnswer Customer: depends if there are some diagnostic checks that I can do which lead to a simple fix
Pearl Wilson: Assistant: Anything else we should know to help you best?
JustAnswer Customer: not really, just no lights from stand buy button on glass top or hob controls - has worked fine till now
Daniel: Home Appliance Technician: Hi, I'm Daniel welcome to JustAnswer, Im reviewing your question now and will post back with your reply momentarily
Daniel: Home Appliance Technician: Are you able to access the underneath of the hob as thats were the model number will be.
Daniel: Home Appliance Technician: Also are you getting any lights at all comming on the hob?
JustAnswer Customer: no lights on the hob - but I can go check the model number under - though access to under hob is tricky as there is a drawer there - back in a mo
Daniel: Home Appliance Technician: Ok if theres nothing comming up then diagnostics wont help you as you need power to do this.
Daniel: Home Appliance Technician: Plus it depends on the model as well.
Daniel: Home Appliance Technician: But as theres nothing comming on the hob and the power supply is good then its either a faulty power board or the mains connection box were the power cable goes to.
Daniel: Home Appliance Technician: As in induction hobs all thats in there is the power board, mains connection box and the magnetic plates.
Daniel: Home Appliance Technician: Now the magnetic plates wont cause this fault so it can only be the power board or the mains connection box.
Daniel: Home Appliance Technician: If checking this yourself you need to remove the hob from the unit and turn it over and open the connection box.
Daniel: Home Appliance Technician: From there inspect it for signs of melting or burning in there.
Daniel: Home Appliance Technician: If there is then the connection box needs to be replaced.
Daniel: Home Appliance Technician: But if the main connection box is fine then its looking like the power board will be the fault and will need to be replaced in this case.
Daniel: Home Appliance Technician: Sorry its not looking like good news but diagnostics wont help on this as its a power issue in there.
JustAnswer Customer: ok thanks at least I now know there are only 2 possibilities neither of which are really a DIY fix, many thanksJason
