Thank you for posting this video (years ago). I have a GE PHP900 four burner induction cooktop. It’s worked great for the past 14 years with no problems whatsoever. Recently my wife let a pot of rice soup boil over onto the cooktop and under the pan on the bottom left most burner. It activated the lock button with the red LED on continuously. Touching the lock button for 5 second would not deactivate or even sound a beep. Your suggestion of placing your whole forearm across the controls fixed the problem for me as well. I had to do it several times in different orientations and then also the full palm of my hand…but eventually after several attempts I heard a single beep. The red LED was still ‘ON’ but at that point I was able to touch the ‘LOCK’ button again…heard one beep…held for 5 seconds and the keypad lock deactivated. My GE induction cooktop is working great again. So glad you posted this video. Thanks again!
Dear Eulayses Perry, How can I think you for this generous, thoughtful and incredibly helpful video!! It's April 14, 2020, and even if we were willing to spend the ridiculous amount of money, the chances of getting a technician to fix this right now are zero! Following your forearm over the on/off switches and the child lock signal worked after several tries. Thank you, thank you for posting this and saving not just our dinner tonight but our ability to cook for the rest of the quarantine!
I am also in quarantine with the light lock issue...like you, have tried everything. Did you hold your forearm just above the control panel or have direct contact. So, far no luck but maybe I will try a few more times. Great video! @@PERRYS_PROPS
@@anastasias.9378 try a few times it may work. if not, check out some of the other videos on this problem, the same technique doesnt work for everyone. Good luck.
I am over 70, so forearm did not work. I had a hot pot of tea made and I put that sitting On the key symbol. After a minute or two I took the pot off and it worked. I use the hairdryer on my Bosch Washing Machine buttons when they don’t work. I think these systems may have an issue with cold weather.
THIS WORKED!!!! Can't believe it! Tried everything the man in the video had tried, as well as everything the manual said, and this is the only thing that worked!! Placed entire forearm over the entire control panel. Instantly got activation!! THANK YOU MR. PERRY!!!!!
why don't people get straight to the point? really over 2 minutes of your video and the people who searched for it are obviously are having the problem that you are offering to solve. why? cant you just start the video by describing the problem shortly and showing the solution directly???
Max Just Max lol! I've had the same criticism of other videos. 😎 I believe when we make our own videos we feel the need to give the back story and the steps we took to get to the solution. I've had people reply that they followed the manual and it worked, they clearly didnt see me say that the standard way didnt work for me and many others.
Thank you for this video! Yes, we wanted it to get to the answer sooner (lol) but it was good to hear the backstory as well. And it was so helpful. My forearm didn't work, but you gave us hope. I ended up using my elbow and applying more pressure (than my finger) directly on the security lock and it worked! Thank you!
Yes, different techniques work for different people. I watched a dozen videos before the forearm thing worked for me. I do understand people being frustrated by long winded videos, but the fact that some commenters who clearly didn't watch the entire video yet complain about something clearly covered, shows me how important comprehensive videos with back stories are import to give people a path if the posters video doesn't work for them
If you watched the whole video you'de know that regardless of me saying the on/off button at the begining, not only did I follow the manual, I contacted the Manufacturer and followed step by step instructions from them.
My man!! I had a 11h+ day moving to a new place and i just couldn’t get my induction to work... did the thing you instructed in the end and BOOM WE BE COOKING a very late dinner! Thx again!
Had the same maddening problem. Couldn't get the forearm to work, but eventually figured out that to switch the child lock off you DON'T press on the power button, but instead press on the key icon directly next to it (effectively covering up the red lighth with your finger - pretty damn counter-intuitive), for 5 seconds. This is probably why the forearm sometime works, because you then are in contact with not just the power-button but also the key icon next to it. Thanks for the video though, made me experiment my way to a solution.
Thank you so much! It worked like a charm! I activated it also with my forearm, and joked to try deactivating it the same way :D but this worked better ;) THANK YOU!
My cooktop sporadically does this and drives me nuts! Always have to go turn off the power for 20 sec before it will turn on. Tried it just now and the trick worked! Thank you!
Thanks for your video man. Had same issue and had resolved with your help and comments. Next time.. I may opt for a good ole regular gas burning stove top though. A lot less frustrations and a lot more consistency.
You need to place a finger on the icon showing the child lock key for 5 seconds. It’s tricky . I had to do it a few times. Hold on till it makes a beep. I’ve activated the lock twice by mistake and the first time I did everything described in the video and the forearm worked. You don’t need a forearm. A carefully placed finger completely covering the icon and almost covering the red light. It’s stupid but that’s what you need to do. I typed this then noticed someone gave the exact same response below. X
2 months ago this happened to me, and his video saved my butt. Well, it happened again today!! Took several hours, but I found your comment and BOOM it worked thank Jesus!!! Words can't begin to describe how thankful I am for your comment!! Seriously, God bless you. 💖💖🙏🙏
I had the same problem on a different model. Your solution worked! The cooktop would just beep (tee-dah) when you try turn it on. The child lock sign was NOT on. No error codes shown. Nothing worked, try unplugging it. On the second try, of putting my forearm over as many buttons from On/off onwards it turned on! Thanks so much for sharing.
Thank you! New Bosch Benchmark slide-in induction range delivered today. Cooktop Panel Lock impossible to deactivate using the instructions from Bosch but your method worked the first time I tried it. :)
Thank you for taking the time to make the video, nothing worked with mine until I finally found the manual. It says to hold the lock button for 4 second and it worked! I hope it helps someone.
Haha, same story - woke up in the morning and couldn't cook breakfast. Same tried to switch of the electricity in the flat, hold buttons for a while - nothing helped. But didn't think of pushing all the buttons together, so closed them with my arm as on the video.. 10-15 secs, red Key lock light didn't disappear, so I tried to press Power button again - and it worked! Thanks, you saved my day)))
Thank you with all of my heart for taking the time to make this video. I have had this stove forever, and it just freaked out! I didn't even know it had a child safety lock🤣!! God bless you and everyone 💖🙏!!
no idea why that worked but it worked. had exactly the same problems and exactly same solutions wouldn't work and the forearm did! amazing. thank you. as you said, only video i could find.
by the way thank you so much for putting up that video as I did not know where to turn this morning when the hob was locked. You put the idea of heat into my head as I do not have strength.
Thank for sharing, I had the same situation with my 10 year old 36" Bosch induction cooktop...user manual and all other youtube video only address the elementary childlock on/off and not Troubleshooting solutions. Tried the forearm across control panel but got nothing then remembered you place wet towel, thought I'd try just to see if that would jolt a system reaction and got the same E E E error flash. I was now hopefully that we experience the same sequence of events. Then I fiddled around more w/my forearm, palm ...etc on the panel and finally heard a beep tone followed by child lock release. Even though the fix wasn't immediate your video encouraged me to keep trying various combinations of pressure points on the control panel verses defaulting to buying a new induction cooktop. t Once again thanks for sharing your fix.
We had this problem and had to call out a Bosch technician. We’d never consciously turned on the child proof lock so hadn’t spotted the key symbol in addition to the key indicator. We were pressing the wrong key and should have been pressing the small grey symbol not the larger red indicator. It seems so obvious now we’ve been shown - hope others find this useful but it does explain why the forearm trick above works for some people if they managed to cover the symbol and indicator simultaneously.
We have a Kitchenaid glass stovetop and had this problem. I could not find a video covering our unit but thought that most similar keys must work the same way. I had tried holding the button it with no results so I went to You Tube and found this video. What I tried after watching this was I took the bottom of my t-short and wiped the area above the button and then pressed with my finger and held it there for 5 seconds and it turned off. My first guess was the correct thing but it did not work... so for me the answer was WIPE THE SURFACE OF THE BUTTON WITH A CLEAN CLOTH.....THEN HOLD THE BUTTON DOWN FOR FIVE SECONDS.
My Kenmore elite glass top was beeping for about 15 min. Tried holding down lock button for 5 sec didn't work. Tried about 10 time still nothing keep beeping. I used my forearm and it worked and beeping stopped. Thank you so much for information helped save lots of money....
What does it look like, when it works? I get the error signal, every way I tried it. Forearm over the whole thing. Forearm over the on/off area. Forearm over the lock symbol. I get an error signal and then it reverts back to being locked. Please help 🙏
Check out some of the other videos on this problem, I think different methods are working fir different people. Its definitely worth trying a few methods over and over before paying for service or a new cooktop
I had this problem yesterday - I've got a Bosche Schott Ceran hob and it accidentally became locked somehow. I literally tried everything including holding down the pad below the key icon but it just wouldn't work - even tried the forearm method in this video which also didnt work, turn the whole thing on/off and still no luck. What was strange is that with the lock on the only pad that worked was the timer pad (clock icon) so I tried setting the timer, waited for it to run down but it still didn't work. Eventually I just held down the timer button/pad for about 4/5 second and thankfully it became unlocked so I'd recommend trying that to anyone that is having this problem.
Thanks so much as I had to eat out due to the same problem. I pressed the timer as you did after failing with pressing the on and off button I could celebrate for this and Loooove my Botch so much Thannnnnk you💕
Thank you so much, I tried everything from the video and it did not work. Scrolled down the comment section and the only thing that worked was your advice to press on the timer button.
i turned on lock by just cleaning and wouldn't turn off even with holding down the lock and later turning the breaker off. What i had to do was make sure the top was completely dry then the lock button held down unlocked it. What a temperamental cook top. UGH !!!
Did not work for me, spoke to owner and was told to press and hold down the lock button for one minute , then it was ok again, maybe the forearm worked coz it was down for one minute .
Thanks for the video mines a Beko looks the same from my view of it doesn’t have a child lock key just on off switch, four cooker keys and lowering, increasing heat keys Mine just suddenly stopped working few days ago the main power switch on the wall I press then the power key AND NOTHING... Any ideas? It’s never happened before and I rent the place only thing I can think off is the fuse is blown in the main switch??
if there is no power at all, check the fuse or circuit breaker on your main panel. If those are ok you may be able to reset the cooktop just by unplugging it for a period of time. one hour has worked for some, 1 day for others. if none of this works, search google for this problem with your specific model. there are lots of forums that may help. good luck.
I have a Bosch cooktop and I cannot deactivate the child lock. When I press on the on/off button to activates the elements the light on the child lock symbol goes on. I tried the pressing the elbow and I got the element lights to go on for a couple of seconds and then go off and that was it. Child lock still activated. Any suggestions. On my model there is no key symbol just child lock symbol with light above it that goes on for a few seconds and then goes off.
First check the manual. If you don't have it you can probably get it online. I hope you tried reseting by unprugging it for 10 min. You can also call the company for instructions. Another thing I saw online was to put a wet towel over the entire top so you can get the unit to go off on error, then dry the top, press tge off button and then back on.
Yes, I couldn't go back to a conventional cooktop after having a conduction top. Bosch is a great brand, I haven't have another problem since this video.
THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!!!💝💝💝💝 in my case, it worked by unplugging just for an hour, then the system reset itself and nothing else was necessary, it functions like new. But I totally ignored that solution as it is not in the manual. The official doc does not even show the same buttons that my induction has.😂
Tried many thing without success then found a manual for the right model number on-line, it told me to press the key light for 4 seconds immediately after turning on. That worked.
Thank you!!!!! I have tried everything and nothing worked …I found your video …the forearm pressing all the on and off buttons worked🎉 … mine is a Kenmore ceramic cook top.
I just returned from a long trip from Italy, crazy for a little breakfast and boom!!!… I started sweating…Thank you so much, I already had my breakfast! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Forearm worked, covering the on/off and the key, but not the job control. 5 sex’s only needed. What a totally maddening feature, especially in a holiday rental.
Pressing the child lock and key covering the key light simultaneously with one finger worked for me.

First check the manual. If you don't have it you can probably get it online. I hope you tried reseting by unprugging it for 10 min. You can also call the company for instructions. Note to self. If I pay 2000 for a stove. I should be ready to pay the repair man. Lol.
Thank you very much it did work!

That sucks, I hope it's been better for you.

Hey do you recommend this cooktop still?
Yes, I couldn't go back to a conventional cooktop after having a conduction top. Bosch is a great brand, I haven't have another problem since this video.
@@PERRYS_PROPS awesome
THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!!!💝💝💝💝 in my case, it worked by unplugging just for an hour, then the system reset itself and nothing else was necessary, it functions like new. But I totally ignored that solution as it is not in the manual. The official doc does not even show the same buttons that my induction has.😂
While I was watching I held down the power and the key at the same time and it worked lol. Ridiculous that tech support couldn’t help
Merci. Ça a marché pour moi avec une plaque à induction Valberg.
Thank you so much!!!! You just saved dinner tonight!!!

Tried many thing without success then found a manual for the right model number on-line, it told me to press the key light for 4 seconds immediately after turning on. That worked.

Forearm worked, covering the on/off and the key, but not the job control. 5 sex’s only needed.
What a totally maddening feature, especially in a holiday rental.
