Geometric Loop Animation | After Effects Tutorial

- In this After Effects Tutorial I’ll show you, how to animate a geometric and abstract loop - using the “create nulls from paths” script!
Download the project file here: gumroad.com/manueldoesmotion
The “Create Nulls from Paths” Script, is built in - since After Effects 2018.
First, we create a square shape, which we transform into a bezier path and the use the script, which creates four null objects.
They have the exact same position as the 4 corner points of the square.
Next, we'll animate the square - the 4 null objects follow - and link shapes to the null objects.
This way, you can get some crazy results - very easy.
We'll mainly animate the scale and rotation of the square to get that seamless loop, in the end we also animate the positions of the linked shapes.
Finally, we'll add some gradient ramps and a drop shadow to make the whole looping animation look nice.
I use music from Artlist: artlist.io

Thank you so much! Great tutorial.
You’re welcome!
hey, when I do this, the Nulls are not on the points like in your video. They are all a bit on the right and i can not move them
It might be because your shape layer isn't in the centre of the comp (960,540), or the rectangle doesn't have the position 0,0 (you can see that in the Transform: Rectangle 1 property of the shape layer).
loved the tutorial
Thx so much! Glad you liked it!
wow great!! thank you!
You are welcome! Glad you like it!
THANK YOU!
You’re very welcome!
Could you make a video about the after effects script "nulls from paths" but when create points follow nulls from it. Their position does not align with the points.
There’s one coming soon;)
I am now having some problem that after I chose null follow points all 4 nulls have deviated. Could you help me pls? I will
appreciate that much.
That’s strange… Where did they move?
Awesome
Thanks!
Thanks for your videos. I can't find the nulls from paths option anywhere though after i convert to bezier path.
I think it comes with After Effects since version 21.
@@ManueldoesMotion but I have after effects 2023 and the option anywhere after i convert it.
Thanks! I'm a big fan of this script and just discovered your tutorials. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. By the way, what microphone do you use? I'm tired of mine... thanks!
You're very welcome! So glad you like my stuff! I use a Rode NT-USB mic and Adobe Audition to mix.

Seb les tuto You’re welcome! So happy you liked it!
Sooo fast unable to understand is there any tutorial which is slow and easy to understand
You don't understand it because it is too advanced?
Why do we split the layers?
Hi! After the split, we link the two solids to different Null Objects.
Damn
Yay! 😁
