Gibson surprised me.....I hadn't realized how good an actor he was.
My grade school principal was Mr Gibson, everyone called him Hoot back in 1949.
Hoot was a genuine cowboy who had won many rodeos. His movies are usually fun to watch.
I like the fact, Hoot looks like a regular guy, rather than either athletic or a model. Makes him seem more down-to-earth.
I love the cheesiness of these made-in-a-day/low-budget westerns (and early Hollywood noirs). No time to rehearse. Check out 2:20 where the guy is attacked by rustlers. His hands are free and flailing about, but he doesn't think to remove the sack over his head. Nor does he react at the moment he gets punched in the guts. Then, like magic at 2:47, his hands are more thoroughly tide.
