Hmmm, in Cantonese, we have direct translation from English.
e.g. 巴士- which means bus which is said like ‘Ba-si’ (please don’t blame me for not learning cantonese ping ying, I’m just 12, we learn those in university)
Another one, 的士 - which means taxi, pronounced like ‘tick-si’
