Yall can keep your tech. I'm 48 years old, 3rd generation, professional driver since 21 years of age. All the real deal pros will know what I'm about to explain: very few things in my life compare to the feeling of being 'one' with a loaded tractor trailer, with a strong 550 6NZ CAT, rowing thru the gears of your 18 speed Eaton, watching the boost guage climb to 35 as the turbo spools up, easing off and with 2 fingers over the shifter, going for the next gear, smooth as butter! Knowing that you can successfully, cleanly, smoothly handle any road or situation that's put in front of you 'cause you got the finesse and experience to pull it off. Pride in the ride! And for me this stuff you describe takes all that away. I will hold on to and rebuild the old school until they pull my cdl or I'm in the ground!
I couldn't agree more. 37 years otr. There's nothing she's doing in that truck that makes her or anyone a professional driver. Just a glorified steering wheel holder.
Been driving for 10 years, i’ll keep my automatic aero truck, 9 mpg, and no clutch knee, i don’t care about looking cool on the road, I care about making money, and once range improved for electric trucks, it will be a game changer for owner operators
See this is the problem I see. I am a major airline pilot and the issue with autopilot is that it severely reduces the skill of the driver/pilot over time. We have been using autopilot for years and have started to focus on hand flying more and more for safety. The FAA has been having us focus on hand flying the airplane more and more. We have gotten the data on autopilot and it has been proven to reduce drivers skills.
@@chrisjohnson8451 at that point it would be too late. They’d just update the software to do all the driving. Giving away your career by accepting “a small change” isn’t bright. We have enough jobs that have completely been erased by technology, this isn’t a bright move for truckers if you value your income. And those that say, it’s just like an automatic transmission making your job easier… no, it’s quite literally nothing like it. It takes all of the responsibility off the driver. If this system caused a wreck, you wouldn’t be held liable.. and hence, it’s just a step in the right direction to taking your job from under you.
I don't want to be a babysitter for a truck. I love driving, and I love that connection between the truck and I, and the roadway. I felt the same way when my company transitioned to automatic transmission trucks, and still feel that way today. I miss my standard transmission, a lot. This is one less connection I'll have with the truck, as we rumble down the road. This makes me incredibly sad.
Even though this company says they have no intention of taking drivers out of trucks, I still believe this kind of technology has no place in trucks. We already have trucks with adaptive cruise, collision avoidance, lane deviation and blind spot monitoring. Already having this existing tech in trucks available to the companys and drivers is making drivers incredibly lazy and dependent on it. It puts them in a mindset that the truck will do all the work for them and keep them safe when in reality it won't. Technology fails. I have driven the trucks with all the sensors and cameras and ones without. I'll stick with the ones that don't have it.
Nope wrong..They do..Go to their website first thing they doin is replacing humans..they want truck to drive itself. So beware. They just using this girl for advertisement. They sneaky.
That is a training failure. These features are driver assists, not substitutions. Flying under autopilot does NOT mean you turn off your brain and play Tetris. The same applies here.
This will erode our industry even more. Like Chris said. We already have automatic trucks and that takes away for a lot of drivers who have never driven manuals the actual feel and temperament of your truck. It doesn't matter if it's a freightliner or a Peterbilt or an international. Every truck drives different. And it's important to be in tune with those feelings of that truck, especially if you run the mountains either east or west coast. It's also important to be in tune with that so you know when something is wrong. I'm not saying everybody has to drive a manual long nose and as someone who has driven automatics I definitely appreciate the convenience of them. But with autonomous trucks eventually you're going to get more accidents for when the computer system fails and you're going to get more people that are not qualified to do this job. And this lifestyle. Not saying all technology is bad because it's not but when it goes wrong it goes really wrong especially with big machinery like this.
On-board technology should assist the driver and never take full control, useful systems such as collision avoidance, lane change alert, blind spot, Tesla, which has held this technology for years, faces several problems causing accidents.
I’ll be so happy when I can retire. I’ve been a mechanic for 29 years. I can imagine what it’s going to be like to troubleshoot this when it starts having problems.
Driving Autonomy is a long long way off but I agree with Chris the airline pilot. These systems will overtime erode the skill of the operator. I can see if a driver gets use to having this system take over driving on the freeway what happens to the driver, complacency and to have an 80,000LB rocket traveling down the freeway at 70MPH with a driver relying on autopilot is a bit worrisome.
I think we're decades away from true autonomy (operatorless) in trucking, rail, and even aviation. While we have these systems it's important to remember that liability legislation still requires a human operator for verification. However unlike rail and aviation which are highly regulated, the roads are not. How this system reacts to a suicidal 4 wheeler driver who cuts in front of the truck and stomps on the brakes because you "cut them off" at the on ramp 50 miles ago is another question altogether.
One thing I have learned all that works real good when it's nice and clear outside but when ice starts to build up on them sensors they do not work properly
I agree with this assessment. Besides, how do we know they've worked all the glitches out of the system? Can they guarantee it will never go haywire? Until we get to a point with AI where the computerized system can react with the same sensitivity and quick judgement as a human driver, then I really don't trust it.
Guy's when are we going to accept that we can't erase the human factor, even though the fact that the driver is inside the Truck ,will the truck able to stop rapidly when a four wheeler cuts in front of the truck in the free way 🤔. AS FOR I WOULD STICK TO DIESEL NOT THAT IM TOO OLD SCHOOL .
This is interesting to see the evolution of our industry. However I think this truly proves companies just want steering wheel holders and not skilled drivers. I threw a fit when I was placed in an automatic truck with a crash mitigation system. I'm the driver and I want to drive. I want to shift the gears, use my judgement, and demonstrate my skill set to safely navigate the roads.
I just think paying humans is more important than tech. Autonomous feels inevitable, but it is a little saddening. Feels like the heritage and tradition of trucking is dying slowly. Change is our unavoidable future I guess.
So, I'm very new to trucking. Today was my second day in my trainer's truck. I come from 18 years as an automotive mechanic for Ford, Nissan, and Chrysler. This topic came up today while we were working today. I firmly believe that fully autonomous vehicles (be they cmv or passenger) will not happen until all human driven cars are removed from the road. A computer will NEVER be able to fully respond to human input correctly because humans on a whole have little to no logic. Look at how many people have problems with operating system updates, when the basic control of a windows based computer hasn't changed in nearly 30 years
How about we just remove all computer driven cars... Computers fail all the time What happens when those sensors get covered in bug guts or a error causes a malfunction or someone compromises the network and takes control of the vehicles remotely?
The thought of an autonomous 35,000+ lb. tractor trailer is scary. We already have autonomous cars going rogue, imagine a tractor trailer! Definitely something for the way future. Our roads need to accommodate such rigs. With the amount of traffic on our highways, this needs to be considered before setting this idea into motion.
I just want to say thank you for your channel. I have been thinking about a career change and being single with no family or nothing to hold me back, I figure why not a career where I could see the country. Your channel explaining what everyday life is like is really helping me think on it. Subscribed.
I actually passed one of these trucks on I-40 West bound out of Albuquerque. They have a co-pilot, it has cameras all over the cab and GPS SATNAV domes on the cab. Considering not after a week on I-40 West bound from NM 4 West and East bound to Acoma wes closed on Wednesday. I see drivers from India driving with left leg on the dash. What they need is a Garmin type watch linked with the unit so it can monitor one's heart rate and in any event contact EMS for heart attacks.
I drove a Cascadia with all the "safety" devices like Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, etc, etc, and I HATED it!!! The alerts were more distracting than ANY roadside sign, and I especially despised the Adaptive Cruise - for the simple reason that when you wanted to pass a slower-moving vehicle, the computer would reduce your speed to that of the vehicle ahead of you, making it all but impossible to pass. These so-called "safety" devices/software/scanners are going to make trucking more dangerous - not safer - because many new drivers won't know what to do or how to do it when the software inevitably glitches or just plain quits working. What does this system do when a tire blows, either on the trailer, the drives, or the steering axle? A skilled driver knows how to handle the truck when something goes wrong, either on the highway or in the city. A computer won't, and the technology doesn't exist yet (and likely won't in our lifetimes) for a computer to know how to handle an adverse situation. About the only "safety" device I'll tolerate is the Blind Spot Warning, and even then I want to be able to disable it in the city - as the damned thing kept going off when a car would run next to me in the merge lanes. Extremely annoying. I'll stick to trucks where a driver has to pay attention all the time, and not rely on some computer to tell me how to change lanes, if someone's in my blind spot, etc.
impossible to pass?😂 i drive a cascadia and all you have to do is turn off the cruise control, i’m excited for the future of trucking, with electric trucks around the corner, and now autonomous way done the line, can’t tell you how many times these old guys in their 379’s or w900s who would ride your ass in the right lane cuz there too lazy to move over and then they cut you off to show you how big there ego is, glad when i see stuff like this that is coming cuz it will make these boomers quit and get out of trucking. Also glad we are getting ALOTT more foreigners in trucking, they are the ones who usually comes out and help spot if you need it, i see a lot of fat boomers just sit their and watch eating a cheeseburger while recording.
This is more proof that sky-net will soon be taking over. A basic tenet of engineering is " less is more." In other words, the fewer moving parts involved, the better. Our trucks are already over-engineered, with extra systems waiting to fail and put money back in the dealerships hands. Looks like a cool add on for a 4 wheeler but for us, I just see down time when parts fail. Great video BTW 👍👍
Great video Shelby. Truck drivers are not ones who like change. I can see where this system can help drivers if they let it. The two key words is let it. It took years for the automated transmission to become the transmission of choice. Old truck drivers hang on to what they know, even if it puts them through hell. Thanks for the video Shelby…
@@ShelbyHBTM At least you took a good look at it and gave it a try. So many will not go that route. I guess down the road we won’t be called truck driver we will be called truck baby sitters.
On the next episode of "Happiness By The Mile". Shelby, "OK Dakota I had the new Plus Drive System installed on our truck so you'll be driving the next twenty minutes while I take a nap. Remember to keep your paws on the steering wheel. Do a good job and I'll feed you some baby carrots when I wake up."
As a Retired Heavyweight Driver , I see Pro's and Con's to this . Sounds good for dealing with Interstates , A-routes , B-routes and even many C-routes with reduced stress levels . However , there will ALWAYS be a need for a " Proficient Monkey " aka Driver , when it comes to finding and negotiating most of those Shitty Little sites we find ourselves actually servicing FREQUENTLY . Line-Haul Depot to Depot operators will love this . Regional and Local Distribution will have no practical use for it . And then there are other Specialty Markets that will NOT adopt it . Over-Size , Mobile Crane , Breakdown Recovery and Emergency Services . The Genii is out of the Bottle . Beware what you wish for . A Can-of-Worms if ever there was one .
Don't get discouraged, just keep doing what your doing and don't let it get you down, all the negative remarks, it's the nature of Trucking, Trucking as a hole will be all automated some day, you can see some shippers are automated, I'm retired now and don't miss it, less stressful now, stay safe and safe travels 👍🤙👊🌺
Don't worry. Technology is here to only HELP YOU. The way Uber didn't kill the taxi industry. iTunes didn't kill record stores, newspapers, comic books, novels...streaming made it so much better for the customer. Instead of watching TV for free, you have to subscribe to dozens of PPV channels where the customers and employees lose, but the head of the tech company wins. Helping humanity has nothing to do with it. Its all about taking money from one industry and funneling it to a few people.
Well, everytime you see one of those super truckers tailgating and driving like they're an aggressive 4wheeler, go ahead and give them a Big thumbs up and a thank you because that's why it's happening.
You a good driver. No problem for our favorite driver. The very worst a driver can do is allow the pressure of getting the load there no matter what time or road conditions are. Pace yourself get there early then wait. Most important thing is get the goods there undamaged & safely. She very interested into the whole process that is what make her interesting.
Depot to Depot, like what you did a lot for FE, yes, those days are numbered. But the majority of last mile pickups and deliveries are not predictable, planned, or well laid out areas. In fact, SuperTruckerDan goes to places that require a skilled driver just to reach the loading/unloading point. Add in construction sites, road construction, and insanely designed city streets, and it's going to be a while before truckers lose their jobs. Now, can semi-autonomous driving help truckers? Absolutely. Blind spots, dull stretches of highway, driver monitoring, and the way they automatically avoid jack-knifing are all great benefits. One thing I do foresee, is slower speeds. Air resistance is exponential, and really starts to affect fuel economy at 45 mph. If you don't need to stop every 11 hours for 10 hours, you can go the same distance at 1/2 the speed, saving tons of money. This will require a change in state laws. As you are aware, semis may not group in more than 3s. This is because in the '70s, semi convoys were literally blowing cars off the highway. Well, at 45 mph, that is not an issue. So I expect semi trains/convoy will be permitted, but not above 45 mph. And if they can drive for 21 hours, it won't matter.
Why would you want to help a company out like that I've been driving for 40 years I'm 58 years old I think the politicians who sponsored this bill is a congressman Republican from Ohio I think he should be thrown out of office and any politician who voted for this should be thrown out :-) and special interest groups they pay these people off these politicians they buy their votes I think they all should be thrown out of office or in jail
If you’re ever interested in doing a segment on motor coaches let me know. I switched from trucking to tour busses three years ago and I have a lot of fun with it.
Why would a woman let herself be used like this. Women in the work place make it tougher to hold on to what you have earned. She is promoting her own demise.
Hey Shelby, thank You for this very intersting Video. We can feel your enthusiasm, keep up the good work. Best Regards from Germany to You and Your Team.
So who’s going to be liable if one of these trucks / smart systems make a bad judgment call and the driver doesn’t have enough time to correct the smart system And then leads to some sort of fatality. who is going to be responsible at that point the truck driver, the smart system, or the Carrier company. Another good question i have is who’s going to provide insurance for these type of vehicles /systems?
I drove trucks for 30 years. I can tell you we are not ready for autonamous machines that can weigh up to 40 tons or more on our highways. There are far too many variables that can change in seconds. We will need humans in those seats. By the time a computer can adjust to the illogical, improbable, unpredictable situations that happen often in the life of a trucker it will be too late. Any experienced trucker knows this to be true.
I have had my CDL for almost 25 years, with millions of mile driving. My new car has this type of technology to use if you want to. I tried it and don't like it. It will kill skill, and give mega carriers more reason to put unskilled and unqualified drivers in the trucks. All autonomous trucking tech is going to cause more trouble in the trucking industry and on the road period.
Yeyyy. More sensors and ECMs. Good luck maintaining all that. In salted mountain passes and on flooded I-29 in North Dakota when water reaches the floor.
Shelby, so glad to see another great and entertaining video from you. You looked a little tense behind the wheel but I would be to, would take awhile to get used to system and trust. Keep up the good work and stay safe on the road.❤️🌹🌹
This reminds me of the saga of auto pilot for planes. Pilots were worried that their jobs were in danger, but the truth is, they never lost their jobs. What I have heard from pilots is VERY similar to what you were saying in the video. The system will do things the way I do them, but not replace me. It just enhances me as a driver.
Yes but while similar a plane is at 30000 feet and there have been instances where accidents have happened because pilots have become to reliable on technology, and they do not get enough manual flight time to keep the skills fresh.
The driver will never be eliminated. This technology cannot watch the load on the trailer. Chains and strap’s can stretch and loosen. Loads can shift, especially on our crumbling neglected infrastructure. It’s required by law to stop and check your securement after the first 50 miles and every 150 miles or three hours afterwards. This system will not fair well when a car cuts in front of it and brake checks on ice and snow covered roads. Drivers will always be required and maybe the better solution is to remove the car drivers and make the car’s autonomous.
coming into this video i was terrified of what this would mean for trucking, our jobs, etc. I came away with less anxiety about this system, and less opposition to it, and a reminder that autonomous systems don't necessarily mean complete loss of control on our part, and that even little things can be automated, like our AC, different home hardware, or cruise control
Very cool seeing other folks getting hands-on with PlusDrive! I was one of their test drivers for a while and the tech is really impressive. I put a LOT of miles on a few of those tractors. 😁
Autonomous systems geofenced outside metro areas on interstates would be where legislation needs to focus on to not eliminate commercial drivers. This would keep drivers where they would be needed most where traffic & complex routes would benefit from a human's ability to operate in a flow state. But, using autonomous driving where a driver can rest while the truck travels on the open road. Allowing non-team drivers to cover longer distances in a shorter time, and less fuel burned idling while hours reset.
This isnt the only autonomous truck. They have trucks that dont have a driver that is controlled by someone in a office. At the end of the day it will take away jobs period!
I am a Trucker and also industrial engineer. I believe this is the future. I would like to get this system on my truck and get a load coast to coast and just sleep eat read or watch something or even play games while on the highway. It’s sounds awesome if if if they can make it work just like l drive.
Soo I'm very green to the trucking thing .. in week 4 of 6 with a trainer before on my own. I've already had thoughts of backing out bc I can see how potentially lonely it can be 😩. I do appreciate your videos! You're based .. which isn't so common. Maybe I'll see you around the Southeast. I hope : )
My issue with all the electronics in our trucks is that when they fail and as often as they do it ads one more element to the job that hinders your reliability to the customer. I cant have any failures in my truck. I currently drive a new Kenworth 880 and the electronics have left us stranded and delayed making customers hesitate on keeping us due to reliability. Just in the last couple years getting things fixed due to parts shortages etc has added one more element to an already stressful job. I hesitate to ad any more electric issues to fail on my truck. If I am already sitting in the seat I might as well drive while I am sitting there. Great video and information but I still think I will pass on the technology of this.
I can't believe you a said that about a "hard merge" how we always hold our breath!! We DO!! WHY DO WE DO THAT? Lol and thank God I'm not alone. You should try driving a rock truck on a construction site in the hill country out in TX. There were jobs where the whole DAY I would be holding my breath... I'm shocked I never passed out. I can't believe AP is going to make my job obsolete. Love this video anyways!
Did you know the big carriers are the #1 investors in autonomous tech? I have heard big carrier execs say their vision is for a human driver to take the truck from the dock to the freeway where he will get out & the truck will continue on its way unattended. When the truck gets to its exit, it will be met by another human driver who will take the truck from the exit to the dock. Once this comes to be and the human drivers are doing very little the exec said they hope to drive wages down to minimum wage. Once trucks can do this, the engineers will continue to work on the system until they enable the trucks to get themselves to & from the docks with no human drivers required. ! !
Loved the instruction / introduction video. I had to laugh at all the "I need to be in control" comments from drivers that drive other people's equipment. If you want control then spend the money, make the investment, and risk the loss caused by your actions. I hate the idea of autonomous vehicles for the most part, however, with the amount of "in control" drivers (4 wheelers too) on the road that cut you off, brake check, speed, and generally make a pros job more stressful, maybe it's time for AI to lessen the amount of road rage brought about by loss of control "in control" drivers. Be safe out there and remember, even with AI you are still in control. You can still run in to that fool that cut you off and brake checked you.
I love having full control over my truck I’m scared to even think of the bad that can happen if something malfunctions. Today we’re still having malfunctioning on sensors on trucks! Trucks slamming on brakes on their own because they detect a suppose object when clearly nothings in front so how are we suppose to trust this?
Now there will be a country song about a guys truck leaving him, taking the spouse and dog as well. As usual though, Shelby covers the topic well, in a friendly manner, and very professional.
Come on it's definitely to take the drivers out of the seat. Just go to the companies website. And this type of technology will decrease a drivers skills...but it's definitely the future of the trucking industry.
Companies don't care if you have a job or not, they only care to make lot of money to keep shareholders happy. Support to any of this automatic system is a step to closer to unemployment
Even if this doesn’t remove the driver from the truck, I can see companies using this tech as an excuse to pay drivers less because they aren’t needed to drive on the freeway and we are already spending more money on the system.
Me personally I started trucking because I love to drive, I do not or would not want the truck to drive itself. That takes the joy out of it for me personally hopefully I’m dead before all this comes out
You still need drivers even if it drives itself. Until ppl are away from the roads and not around roads no vehicle will ever drive itself without someone being there.
Wow... This whole damn time I've been lied to. Everyone around me always told me to practice in order to get better. I have never played the accordion but I'm going to buy me one. I should be very good with it from the get go.
Thanks Shelby for make this video and explaining how the system works, new technology is always scary and exciting at the same time, like any new technology most people are against it in the beginning but later they will all what it as standard equipment on there rigs. Look at tech like ABS brakes, anti skid and traction control system ect, when they first came out nobody want them because they not having a computer helping them drive because they want to be in control, now days they all want it as standard equipment or they won’t buy the vehicle. I think it will be a long time, like years before trucks or any vehicle will become completely full automated as there are to many variables that can go wrong and no computer can’t be programmed to handle every single one of them.

When you get a moment, please comment on when the system is driving and an incident occurs, how will the accident be litigated? ... how will insurance coverage work? who is charged with the accident? Is the court system ready to hear these cases? ... just curious 🤔
Looks cool. However the first time there's a glitch resulting in an accident and or fatalitie (s) , you can kiss your livelihood, freedom and cash goodbye. Maybe I'm naive as I haven't been explained all the interworkings as you have...then again, I don't fully trust adaptive cruise control either. Thank you for putting this video together. I do enjoy watching your content.
Yes! Let them help in making full autonomous trucks, it is nothing more like teaching thier technology to make it happen faster than you think, it's shit packed in a nice piece of paper making a herd of sheep happy.
Great informative vid Shelby. I think this stuff is interesting. There are already driver out autonomous trucks on the road going terminal to terminal being tested. It's just probably a matter of time and we will see more and more of them.
This does not sound like trucking. I just want my stick shift and manual analog controls back. It seems this is a way for companies to pay drivers less because they are doing less. ? And who’s responsible if the system fails the driver ? Companies will spend billions on all kinds of things just to get away without paying a driver one Cent
I don’t think this technology will ever take away the need for a human operator in the seat. But I’m excited for the tools to make things easier. I don’t thing it will ruin the drivers…Just help. I’ve come from a heavy equipment operator background. There are certain “tools” put in the bigger equipment that I’m sure the old men bucked against when it first came out. Things like bucket levelers, and boom kick outs at the top and the bottom on large loaders. I can see those men saying “Well in my day, we leveled our own buckets, and knew when we were up over the truck…We don’t need this stuff.” But from my perspective, you can pull back on your boom lever, and take a bite of a sandwich while it raised itself, and kicked out at the height you set. And your hand wouldn’t have to be glued to it for the whole motion. Same with leaving the truck, and booming back down. It will let itself down to the ground, and land already level to dig….all while the operator gets a drink of water, lights a cigarette, or whatever……Those automated tools didn’t ruin the loader…Just took some of the load off the operator. I feel it will be the same with these trucks.
It was a great opportunity you had😄 Did they limit what you could show on your video? The way in which it actually works, more drive time to show how it works? Did they say how it performs in mountains, & during inclement weather??
Looks interesting, and would think a great addition would be a heads up display reflected in the windshield, to prevent looking down so much; but keep that screen too. Heads up can be projected with small device and would be great for night driving, especially if they had forward looking technologies like Ford had in their cars once. Autonomous driving is already here. Elon Musk has Tesla truck, but others will be incorporating systems such as this into their vehicles to make sure it's safer. Learning how they work would just be part of the ongoing educational aspect of driving. One of the safety aspects of it is it prevents jackknifing and accidents from vehicles that sneak up beside you into your blind spot, when you're trying to change lanes, or merging traffic that's not paying attention. Great video.
Yall can keep your tech. I'm 48 years old, 3rd generation, professional driver since 21 years of age.

That is an awesome point and I completely agree.
@@ShelbyHBTM interesting concept, and I don’t think it’s all bad. But once a system like this gets approved. DOT will just extend drivers hours.
And the pay of the driver will go down significantly.
@@mutchler87 I agree with you, I’m a little uniformed so I apologize. But I think drivers would have to unionize at that point.

This is one less connection I'll have with the truck, as we rumble down the road. This makes me incredibly sad.
That’s very romantic
Hakers will love this 😊
Even though this company says they have no intention of taking drivers out of trucks, I still believe this kind of technology has no place in trucks.
Agreed I would hate to see this thing malfunction!
On-board technology should assist the driver and never take full control, useful systems such as collision avoidance, lane change alert, blind spot,
Tesla, which has held this technology for years, faces several problems causing accidents.
On a Cascadia you can override the automated manual and choose your own shift points. I don't see a problem with this tech.
Absolutely agree!
One thing I have learned all that works real good when it's nice and clear outside but when ice starts to build up on them sensors they do not work properly
Tu Simple
Got my license yesterday ... you were my inspiration from day 1 .... 😍😍😍
That’s very kind of you to say. Thank you so much. Remember that it is definitely going to challenge you so go slow and always keep reassessing. 🙂
Computers fail all the time
What happens when those sensors get covered in bug guts or a error causes a malfunction or someone compromises the network and takes control of the vehicles remotely?
I'll stick to trucks where a driver has to pay attention all the time, and not rely on some computer to tell me how to change lanes, if someone's in my blind spot, etc.
impossible to pass?😂 i drive a cascadia and all you have to do is turn off the cruise control, i’m excited for the future of trucking, with electric trucks around the corner, and now autonomous way done the line, can’t tell you how many times these old guys in their 379’s or w900s who would ride your ass in the right lane cuz there too lazy to move over and then they cut you off to show you how big there ego is,
glad when i see stuff like this that is coming cuz it will make these boomers quit and get out of trucking.
I’m skeptical myself. It was definitely fun to drive, but grand scheme we will just have to see what they can do with it
@@ShelbyHBTM At least you took a good look at it and gave it a try. So many will not go that route. I guess down the road we won’t be called truck driver we will be called truck baby sitters.
That's like autopilot once you're on the highway.. Sounds pretty sweet before knowing how this will affect rates
Great video Shelby!!!! Your enthusiasm tells me the system works!! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Happy Fourth of July beautiful. 🇺🇸❤🤟
Thanks, as a 4 wheeler this was interesting and informative.
That is an incredibly interesting take on the matter. Give me something to think about
Wait till winter in wyoming on the I 80 with these trucks more jack knifing
Hey Shelby I have a magazine with a picture of you on it with rotella! Congrats you are famous!
Hi Shelby miss you also awesome video so happy you’re chosen to do this driving and as always you be safe 🇺🇸🇺🇸
the future of trucking so interesting
Why would a woman let herself be used like this. Women in the work place make it tougher to hold on to what you have earned. She is promoting her own demise.
Hey Shelby,
thank You for this very intersting Video.
Big thank you to you giving us a look into the new ideas in trucking
A very good Monday morning to you all in the USA from Wellington Somerset in the UK
Saw your shell ad in land line. Looking official.
Thank you so much Shelby, you made the video easy to watch and understand!!
Amazing!! Love from Thailand.
Nice picture of you on the shell rotella advertisement
Needing drivers with less skill improves this industry how exactly?
Yeyyy. More sensors and ECMs. Good luck maintaining all that. In salted mountain passes and on flooded I-29 in North Dakota when water reaches the floor.
Awesome video! Thanks 4 sharing! Love the freckles on the cheek!!😁❤️👍
"We're not taking the drivers out of the trucks"... till we get it right. Then when we don't need you we won't pay you
Great video. Trucking will be easier. Autonomous driving tech has come a long way but still a long way to go. Very informative.
Yes but while similar a plane is at 30000 feet and there have been instances where accidents have happened because pilots have become to reliable on technology, and they do not
get enough manual flight time to keep the skills fresh.
Hey Shelby.
What a interesting video.
Love ❤️ your amazing laugh.
That system is awesome
Thanks for the new video. Hi from Belarus
Lane assist and lane correction is a great idea...expecially bendix incorporated safe stop to eliminate rear ending stop fails
Did you know the big carriers are the #1 investors in
autonomous tech? I have heard big carrier execs say
their vision is for a human driver to take the truck from
the dock to the freeway where he will get out & the truck
will continue on its way unattended. When the truck
gets to its exit, it will be met by another human driver
who will take the truck from the exit to the dock.
Once this comes to be and the human drivers are doing very
little the exec said they hope to drive wages down to minimum
wage. Once trucks can do this, the engineers will continue to
work on the system until they enable the trucks to get themselves
to & from the docks with no human drivers required.
!
!
To add, they're keeping the drivers as main pilot for now so the AI can learn the human driving behavior in order to replicate/improve on it.
Exciting but I couldn't change that part of me, think I would be more stressed out because of it.
Great experience for you!!
Do you Think 🤔 Rookie Truck Drivers Will Love it ???
It is the way of the future glad I will be retiring in 12 years hopefully before this puts me on the bread line
Welcome to Silicon Valley Shelby! Land of the $700,000 starter home. Hope you had a chance to use the system during rush hour. Love your vids.
How about snow, rain, fog, unexpected rode hazards???
Come on it's definitely to take the drivers out of the seat. Just go to the companies website. And this type of technology will decrease a drivers skills...but it's definitely the future of the trucking industry.
Companies don't care if you have a job or not, they only care to make lot of money to keep shareholders happy. Support to any of this automatic system is a step to closer to unemployment
How exciting!
You go girl!!!!!!
Love everything and I’m a truck driver 💙
Even if this doesn’t remove the driver from the truck, I can see companies using this tech as an excuse to pay drivers less because they aren’t needed to drive on the freeway and we are already spending more money on the system.
sadly this is what will probably end up happening
I don't think this is necessary on a truck. Be safe my friend. God bless you 🙏.
Interesting technology for sure.
I watched the whole video looking at Shelby, and only at the end noticed that Shelby was talking about some kind of system.
Professor Shelby The Great, I have but four words to say about Plus, The Future of trucking . 06/26/2022. 9:18 am EST. . Blessed 1
My name is Anthony Powell but everybody calls me Tony. I live in terrell Texas but i am from Floydada Texas its a small town where everybody knows everybody but thats the way I like it. What happens when my kid sticks his arm out the window when driving by a Big Rig requesting that air horn? Will the computer recognize & oblige?
I completely understand. It’s is definitely something that evokes many questions that we all have to consider
Here we gooo
Who doesn't feel better that this beautiful girl is promoting something that eventually will take food off the table for millions of people
This does not sound like trucking.
It was a great opportunity you had😄
Did they limit what you could show on your video?
Hi Shelby
I could swear I saw you hold your breath atleast 2 times lol...
Soooo, who is responsible when a lethal accident occurs?
