I remember my christian friend saying, "When I read the stories of the prophets in the quran, I felt like god was straightening out the misconceptions in the bible and telling them that they were the best human beings, so don't arbitrarily change their reputations and make them look bad. In the bible, there is even a prophet who has sex with his own daughter, so he feels as if god is telling the world: "This is their true story, everything else is just nonsense."

I rarely comment here.. im one of ur subscriber for years.. i just want to tell u this surah is my favorite.. i really love the story.. and the reunion at the end of the story is so touching.. i cried when they reunite.. and i love the detail story of Prophet Joseph PBUH..
It's my favorite too... I'm a writer and this Surat Yusuf uses many of the advanced storytelling techniques. I love to reference it when talking about them.
Indeed the story in surah yusuf considered as most beautiful story in Quran. This story telling full of dialogues so you can imagine how detail it is.. there are chapters and the plot twist is amazing.. and as every good story it ended with happy ending.. teaching and summary

11:49 because if his cloth torn from back Yousuf will be innocent because it means that she torn it. But if it was torn from front this means that Yousuf did it and by fact HE DIDN'T.
Surah Yusuf is so beautiful. It teaches us the closest people can betray you, broken hearts can be healed with love, ease comes after hardship, being sad doesn't equal being ungrateful, & people of patience have beautiful endings.

The revelation of Surah Yusuf:
In an explanation of the reason for the revelation of Surat Yusuf, a number of sayings were mentioned:
First: Some scholars believe that Surat Yusuf - peace be upon him - was revealed in the primary for no reason, especially since most of the narrations that the exegetes used as evidence in explaining the reasons for its revelation are not correct. There are beggars that this surah answers to, as it came in His saying - the Most High -: “Indeed there were signs in Joseph and his brothers for those who ask.”
The second: A group of Jews sent to the infidels of Quraish asking them to test the Messenger of GodGod - may God’s prayers and peace be upon him - to ask him about a prophet who left the Levant to the land of Egypt and about the details of his story. From the stories of the prophets - peace be upon them - divided into different surahs, and Imam al-Qurtubi - may God have mercy on him - indicated that there is an argument and evidence that God - the Most High - challenged them to produce the like of this Qur’an separately or together, so they were unable to produce the same in both cases.
The third: Some of the commentators mentioned that the Jews asked for a messengerFor God - may God’s prayers and peace be upon him - on the authority of a man who was in the Levant and his son left him, and he wept over him until he was blind. They asked him about his news and who he was; So the surah was revealed, and in another narration that the Jews asked the Messenger of God - may God’s prayers and peace be upon him - about the names of the planets that were mentioned in Surat Yusuf.
Fourth: The reason for the revelation of the noble surah is that the Companions - may God be pleased with them - asked the Messenger of God - may God’s prayers and peace be upon him - to tell them stories after much of the Noble Qur’an was revealed to them. Here is the Qur'anBefore him, you were among the heedless,” confirming what was narrated on the authority of Saad bin Abi Waqqas - may God be pleased with him - that he said: “The Qur’an was revealed to the Messenger of God, and it was recited to them for a time, and they said: O Messenger of God, if you would tell us; Then God, Blessed and Exalted be He, revealed: Those are the clear verses of the Book to His saying: We tell you the best stories; Then the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, recited to them for a time, and they said: O Messenger of God! if you talk to us ; Then God revealed: God has sent down the best hadith in a similar book... the verse, all of that.As they are commanded by the Qur’an.”
The reason why Surat Yusuf was revealed to the Prophet: The revelation of Surat Yusuf to the Messenger of God - may God’s prayers and peace be upon him - was one of the factors of consolidation, consolation, and relief of pain and sorrows in the phase of distress and loneliness. That relief will inevitably come no matter how severe the difficulties and the struggles of the people of falsehood, by reviewing what Joseph - peace be upon him - went through in terms of hardships, temptations and calamities, starting with his story with his brothers, throwing him into the well, and then moving to a housedear.. The wife of the dear was attached to him and his sympathy for himself, passing through his imprisonment, his patience over everything that befell him in the way of God, and bearing the burdens of calling to God - the Almighty -, and then the situation turned around and his release from prison, dear and generous, and his assumption of the king of Egypt, and in the noble surah a message to the Prophet - prayed May God’s prayers and peace be upon him - and the Companions - may God be pleased with them - that patience is the path to empowerment, and that God Almighty helps His guardians and righteous servants, in accordance with His saying - the Most High -: “And thus we empowered Joseph on earth and that We would teach him from the blasphemies and blasphemies of him.”His command, but most people do not know.”
Lessons learned from Surat Yusuf: Surat Yusuf contains many lessons and lessons, the most prominent of which are:
First: fulfilling one’s needs in secrecy and secrecy, especially news that may harm a person; Where our master Jacob ordered our master Joseph - peace be upon them - to suppress the vision in which he saw the sun, moon and planets prostrating to him; The hater does not plot against his brothers a plot that harms him.
Second: steadfastness on the truth and facing sedition; Our Master Yusuf - peace be upon him - remained steadfast on his religion, his call and his method in front of the temptations of the wife of the dearThe sultan’s temptation, to the extent that he endured the pain of imprisonment for that, and the consequence of his steadfastness on the truth was that God enabled him on earth to occupy it wherever he wanted.
Third: The reality of jealousy between brothers, which may lead to harm, and sometimes an attempt to kill, as Joseph's brothers did; Where they said: "Kill Yusuf...".
Fourth: Relief after hardship and ease after hardship is a divine Sunnah for the prophets and the righteous. Jacob - peace be upon him - was patient with his son's distance and loss, and the consequence of patience was a good reward in this world. When God reunited the family with what awaits them from the rewardGoodness in the Hereafter.
Fifth: The danger of being alone with a woman is forbidden. It is one of the steps of Satan. He - the Most High - said: “And the one who was in her house took him away from himself and closed the doors.”
Sixth: The expression of the vision is like a fatwa. This is because of what was mentioned in the surah in His saying - the Most High -: “The matter has been decided in which you will be asked.” Therefore, the scholars said, it is not permissible for someone who does not know the expression of visions to speak about what he does not know.
Seventh: Seeking to take the permissible reasons to escape from calamities; Where Yusuf - peace be upon him - said: “Remember mewith your Lord”; So that the one who got out of prison mentions the story to the king, and the king conducts an investigation into the matter, so this will be the reason why our master Yusuf was released from prison innocent.
Eighth: Permissibility of requesting empowerment from the position; If this position serves the law of God and demonstrates the capabilities of Yusuf - peace be upon him - to the king without harming himself, provided that his intention is purely for God, and this was mentioned in His saying - the Most High: “He said, ‘Put me on the treasuries of the earth’, but I am a purifier.” He asks for a position for himself, so God - may He be glorified and exalted - entrusts him to himself and does not help him, so the position will be a trial for him.

This is the only Surah in Quran that has one whole story about one Prophet only.

This is the only chapter in the Quran that is more focus on story of a prophet. Other parts of the Quran are 3-dimensional where stories were arranged in different parts (numerically coded). Amazing indeed as the Quran is a miracle that is obseable until today

if you didn't notice the ruler of Egypt in the story is called KING and not PHARAOH. Meaning the Quran makes a distinction between the ruler of Egypt at the time of Joseph and the ruler of Egypt at the time of Moses. Egyptologists do confirm that in the old kingdom of Egypt the title PHARAOH was not yet used, i.e the Quran is absolutely accurate here, while in the Bible the ruler of Egypt is always called PHARAOH; which is wrong.
This is a proof that the "author" of the Quran didn't copy from the Bible and more importantly this "author" either deciphered the hieroglyphic language or had knowledge of the unseen.
Author of the Quran is the knower of all the languages actually He is the one who taught the languages to humans.
