I've been living next to OTH since 1987 (the beige colored blocks next to the park behind) 8+ years ago the land where OTH sits have 3 standalone buildings - the swimming complex, running track stadium and the sports hall. no shops, eating places, library, etc. people come here just for sports. Since OTH has opened, it created such a buzz that makes this area so lively! i think its an successful innovative use of land (stacking of sports facilities + shops + community spaces). For 30 years we have seen how Tampines has transformed.
We think the community hub is such a great idea. We particularly loved all the free sports activities on offer to get people active and having fun together. I’m sure it’s changed a lot since you’ve been living there, thanks for sharing!
@@WONDERLUSTworld btw, hope not too late. happy Queen's Platinum Jubilee. i think SG needs to learn from UK amazing talents to organise such fun events.
Government planned Community Hubs in every big estate in SG, to bring the multi racial residents together to mingle and interact in the community with planned activities. There are available courses like cooking, dancing, flower arrangement, art etc, etc and facilities like gym, library, polyclinic, swimming pool, badminton or tennis courts, open area movie screen show, eatery food centre or cafe and so on, are also available at most Hub. On the east side of SG, Tampines Hub is consider one of the most vibrant one. Glad to know that your family manage to explore and discover yet, another outing gem in this tiny nation. Hope you all have an enjoyable and awesome day spent at the community hub. 🙌Thanks for sharing this place on your vlog. 👍 😍
Thanks for watching and commenting. I love the idea behind the the community hubs. We saw lots of free sports advertised - such a good initiative. Have a lovely weekend.
Another great video - thanks. It's always interesting when you go into the local communities and show what's there. I remember that on my last visit I had a wander round Toa Payoh for a while, and I enjoyed that even though there was nothing very special happening that day. RUclips is full of travel videos showing all the regular Singapore attractions, it's good to see something different. You never went back to the people in the body-suits; did you ever find out what they were for? They must have been hot in them!
Thanks - we find days out don’t have to be a big planned thing. Sometimes it’s fun to just explore someplace new. Am we still don’t really know what those costumes were about, I just hope it’s not the future of fashion 😅
That was a fun video 😀. OTH is huge and I’ve been there a few times to play tennis at its indoor courts and then for a meal afterwards at the open-air food court. Favourite scene: Millie photo-bombing the “aliens” from behind 😂🤣
Fully agree! Our Tampines Hub (OTH) is probably the best Coomunity place in Singapore! I am a proud resident in Tampines, who have been enjoying the faclities and activities at OTH. Thank you for introducing this wonderful place to fellow Singaporeans. By the way, good work for your channel! - fr: Johnsen
For those who say Spore is boring do not know what is happening around them. Glad that your family has adopted a healthy active lifestyle and training your kids to enjoy such lifestyle that prepare them to be a more rounded person. Spore Promotion Board should show case your vlogs to introduce Spore can be as a active and healthy family place as well and not just the same old touristy stuff that make her seems limited and boring.
We completely agree! The tourist things here are amazing, but when you dig a little deeper we think that’s where you can really see Singapore. Thanks for watching and taking the time to drop us a lovely message.
Great video! I really love seeing parts of Singapore that are not places I've been. And, I never knew that was how Tampines was pronounced so I learnt new things 😉
One of my favourite places. The library is the best, huge including a 3D printing room, kids play area. During exams period, you will see loads of people waiting outside the library dashing for seats. You should explore the library.
@@WONDERLUSTworldyes theres lots more in the basement: Arcade, Bowling Alley, Children Gymnastics, Yoga Studio, Fitness Studio, Art Studio, Ballet Studio, Childcare Centre. On the first floor, there are futsal courts, tennis courts, a hockey rink. In he middle floors, there are massive mult- purpose courts for basketball, badminton, table tennis etc, and also a movie theatre. On the top floor, there is the gym and pool
I almost thought you missed the library. You should have popped in to take a look. Also there is a theatre there you missed. Other things are tennis courts
That purple parasite that you were mentioning, it's actually called a tardigrade. It is a microscopic creature about 1mm in size. It's usually found in plants. Anyway great to see you folks having a wonderful time in Singapore, and it's also great that Singapore has opened to tourism.
Bro., Try to catch a home ground match of Tampines Rovers on match day at OTH, for a S-league experience. It's happening Saturday 18/6 5.30pm between Tampines Rovers & Geylang, the Eastern Darby. Bring the family as well I bet you all will love it.
That purple thing is a tardigrade aka water bear or moss piglet. And also if you go to the basement, there are plenty more shops like supermarket, bakeries, etc and also a bowling alley, ice cream shop and a nasi padang restaurant. Anyhoo, the stadium is the home of Singapore’s local football club, Tampines Rovers, playing in the SPL. The giant movie is free and they always have new movies every week. The other place that has free movie screening is at Wisma Geylang Serai ✌🏼 Oh and those people in the weird full body suit, they are called Zentai suit. According to the Japanese, they are meant to escape the pressures of modern day life.
Thanks for the info! I actually read about a water bear with the kids this week and put the two and two together after your comment! Looks like OTH could be a whole day out with the amount of activities and entertainment options they have going on. Thanks for taking the time to comment 😊
Hope to see u folks explore the region more during your stay in Spore...that's another perk of staying in our little red dot...great hub to explore rest of Asia!
Yeah I know right! It’s like many little cities all over the place. In Norwich, where I was born, we only have 2 shopping malls. But here there is one for almost every MRT station, not to mention all the little local shops and eateries!
Interesting that I’m the local but am learning so much about these little gems about SG from you guys… keep it up!
Thank you! Happy exploring too
Me too. 😊

In our experience, Singaporeans are the most welcoming!! See friendly and warm. 😊😁
Wow you are in my area. Alas I am not there to say hello
Aww no! 👋
Welcome to Tampines. Did you checkout the library in OTH? Am sure you and your kids will love the library there.
We didn’t go in but after all the comments looks like we need to go back and find out some more!
BTW they also screen football matches on the huge screen - the atmosphere is crazy.

Probably you have missed the swimming pools @ lvl 6. Kids pools and Pools for adults as well. Fun place for kids!
So we hear! We will have to take a trip back. Our kids were at a birthday party so we only had a couple of hours.

Thanks! Appreciate the support.
You guys live in the east side of Singapore too?
No, we just happened to be in the area! But we love the East.

Not all days have these events
This event was for an anniversary of some sort, we just happened to be there on the same day!

A good reason to head back!! Thanks
You missed many things.. huge swimming pools, badminton courts, tennis courts, indoor gym...
Amazing! We felt like we saw so much yet there is still way more to see. Thanks for the support.
Do you have any idea what a studio apartment cost there?
If you are a foreigner, a private studio will cost about SGD 838K with a 99 years tenure within 10mins walk to the subway
And to rent one?
No idea, maybe check out some of the real estate websites. 😊

yah.. clever.. using the kopitiam card will get you 10% discount from every food stall there
Yeah - we love our kopitiam card!
I agree, those human condoms are a bit disturbing.

Do find it funny when you said ‘slightly disconcerting’ of ppl in some colourful bodysuits !! 😬😆😆
