    I couldn't believe how the rider acted like he couldn't give 2 $hits about the bike. He acted like...just fix it and tell me when you are done with it. Dave is a constant professional.. Great Video.

    Very few do initially. There's a lot of fear to overcome as well as a lot of voodoo associated with suspension tuners. He listened every minute after that :)

    You want the ideal sag numbers with an appropriate spring. That's why free sag and rider sag are so important. We will run 2 or 3 springs keeping free and rider sag as constants eg: same installed preload on each spring and tst tire wear and rider feedback on each spring to find the right one.
    If a spring is wrong then yes, you need to create a band aid fix as best as possible to get by until the correct spring can be sourced.

    most suspension technicians would just start to laugh after looking at this guy and how his "showing stuff" (from the beginning)

    @MarsRacingYorkshire Shock should be 30mm of preload with 5-10mm of washers in between the mount and frame depending on axle position. HS compression at 1 turn out and LS compression at 1.25 turns out. Rebound (depending on shock oil weight used for reconditon) should be .75 to 1.5 turns out.

    @qotsa630 looking to come home to do some track day suspension support and some BSB in 2012. Need to do some research into all of that re rules and regulations, getting permission etc before I get a calender sorted. That will also give me some time to travel around to sort out street bikes via dealership promo's. Seems like a good idea!

    Another great one Dave.
    So let me get straight, the ideal SAG numbers will only work with the "correct" spring rate for the rider. So if the spring rate is off in either direction, the SAG will have to be adjusted out of range (so to speak) to compensate for the spring rate.

    It was very clear that the tire was the wrong compound so we were desperately trying to make tires last 3 to 4 races rather than one. We managed to be very successful in most cases in making this happen.

    Yes, with the front forks. Springs oil and viscosity will make an enormous difference. The rear shock should be replaced with something better and there are plenty of mad professors out there that have transplanted shocks onto bikes like this.
    Make the effort and start with the forks.

    Dave - see at the end when you ask whether the front pops up or still holds the line when he comes off the throttle, what would be the reason and cause for the front to pop up at this point????

    Why does it look like this guy is not very interested in what it takes to make the bike handle. Body language tells a lot. I'd be in there with him and asking how and why. Looks very impatient and unappreciative. He'll crash soon enough and not even know why.

    Like basically, the i feel like the bike is traveling a lot. up and down while cornering. its soft, but its like im sitting on top of a fitness mall and going down. Mostly down. sudden drops. the spring is on the softest setting.

    Dave, My bike is a stock r6s 07. I was told i need a softer spring for my weight (around 142 with all gear). My bike started out too soft in the front, and too hard in the back. I had it tuned as much as possible for the spring. but I find that when in canyon runs, the bike basically squats too much in the rear. Its hard to turn in, i seem to get some nose up. grip seems to be pretty good but i fight to keep it leaned over. also i get a lot of rear drop with bumps. LIKE A ELEVATOR FREE FALLING.

    dave, i have almost the same problem as this on my bike (same bike) im about same weight too. ive just had my shock reconditioned and a bigger spring put in but hasnt made a huge difference. i had colin wright have a look at it at cadwell but he said its past its best, what did u do the compression on this one, (if u remember) haha

    This is one unlikeable guy. Dave should have realized he doesn’t give a shit, just set him up and let em ride, some people don’t want to learn.
