    FINALLY!!! Perfect choice of fish man. I've always wanted either an umbee or a dovii I just don't have the space for such a huge tank to house one permanently. I hope you enjoy him and I'm really looking forward to some more videos with this beauty. Congrats steve!!

    Honestly I was sceptical about your one fish idea. This is seriously amazing.

    It was because of this fish that i decided on an electric blue jack Dempsey as the center piece for my show tank. I dont have the room to house an umbee so i had to look for something smaller but loved those blue freckles and body shape. Thank you for this video!

    I started and still have some Africans; but recently purchased a hybrid South American. She also has the blue freckles. I believe they said she was supposed to be part Texas cichlid, part Red Devil. Eating from my hand now. Very cool. Am deciding that Africans are not as personable as South Americans. Don't know where I will go from here, but totally understand your transition. You have a beautiful interactive fish!

    What’s your opinion on Northfin or Xtreme? I’ve been feeding Xtreme to my peacocks and Haps for 2 years now. They love it and are healthy and have great color. I bought some Northfin and tried feeding it multiple times and they spit it out. Which food do you think is better. What’s your opinion. I’ve been feeding my Super Red Flowerhorn northfin and his Red has faded. What are you feeding your new guy

    • @StevePolandAquatics
      @StevePolandAquatics  6 лет назад

      I’m feeding this guy Northfin Carnivore and Northfin Jumbo. Flowerhorns are kind of a different deal and I know there are a lot of foods made specifically to bring out their color that might be a better choice for him. But with your africans I wouldn’t worry if they spit it out at first. When I first got this Umbee he spit it out for at least a week. Now he mows it down. But also if Xtreme is working for you then don’t stress about switching.

    Awesome tank and fish, but why support wild-caught? I know this is a widely debated topic, but with so many captive-bred fish available, I have a difficult time purchasing wild-caught fish and supporting such practices at this day and age.

    • @StevePolandAquatics
      @StevePolandAquatics  6 лет назад

      It’s a fair question. I didn’t specifically seek out a wild caught fish. I just wanted the best fish I could find. I have mixed feelings myself about wild caught but more in situations like Malawi where it’s causing real issues with the native fish populations. These Umbees aren’t being overfished, at least not at this collection point, as Chris is the only one importing them as far as I know.
