- Mick Brown, AKA the Duke treats everyone to a pike fishing Masterclass. By using the techniques shown in detail by Mick, anyone can catch big pike.
Using simple but canny deadbait fishing rigs, the Duke proves his point by catching pike from a weedy gravel pit. Features Matt and Mick in session recently at Langtoft Lakes.
I used to watch your show all the time as a kid still remember watching an episode then running straight down the canal to Try everything I learned 15yrs later still watching and learning love it 🎣
Just never gets old watching matt and Mick.

Great entertainment. Can't think of a better way to spend my "lock down" time here in Dubai than watching two guys enjoying themselves on the bank. keep up the good work chaps.

What a great way to spend my time in isolation. My two fave fisherman. Matt nd mick. Wish it was 3hrs long. Another great vid lads
Cheers Barry. Have a look at the podcasts in the Fishing Tales playlist - they are longer.
Love watching you pair it means a lot watching you it brings back the old memories I met you matt at burton mear in the 90s you gave me a signed cap witch I lost a few years ago it was my lucky hat I'd love another one if that is possible you were fishing for cats at the time if I remembere you had a couple out and you had a chat with me witch I always remember great memories tight lines pal and you to duke 🎣🎣👍
Thanks Neil. Glad that it was a lucky hat! You never know, might get the chance to sign another one for you one day! 💪🎣
Matt Hayes thanks mate I hope so
Mick Brown wat legend
Starting to wonder if you and the Duke are joined at the hip. But then, there are far worse people to be joined to. One of my lads bought himself a shakespear rod a few years ago. His first self bought rod. He still uses it most times we get on the bank.
Great to see humble tackle getting used by household names. Thanks Matt. It puts confidence in people like me.
Keep it up Matt, but be safe out there my friend, your followers think the world of you, and really don't want to see you getting ill. Take care.
Well done guys, luv watching your pike fishing vids, keep doing more!! 👍👍 tight lines.
Cheers Andy...next ep at the end of the week. It's called the Prince and the Eel.
Love the boys Oldschoolers 😀
Unable to leave the house atm as most country can't so making my way through Matt's fishing tales a great watch!
Loved this. Used to love 'Record Breaking Fish' as a kid so was a pleasant surprise to see the dream team here on RUclips. Got really in to pike fishing recently so this was interesting for me
You will have to keep this up mr hayes as were not allowed out 😊 minimum one a day you and the Duke can do it 😂😂👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Maybe not one a day but I have started work on the next one. it's called 'The Duke and the Eel.'

Good to see you guys stay well
Thanks Richard, likewise mate.
Another lovely vid gents 👍
Same fish i caught with Brownie back in march before lock down part 1
Great fishing . can you use carp care kits on pike ?.
thanks Matt and the Duke
woody
Yes, no problem. Carp rods can be a tad stiff though and often tear the hooks through softer skinned baits. The rod in the film is not expensive but it has the right sort of action. Carp rods in the cheaper range would probably serve well because they are generally softer and more 'through' than top end carp rods.
anybody know where the duke bought his camo jacket...................lovely camo version
Matt I’m 14 now but when I was 6 I caught a 10lb pike and when I tried to take out the hook he nicked my thumb badly I have moved since and have stuck to trout and salmon but thinking of getting in pike and coarse fishing and I’m wondering how to take out the hook properly if it’s deep in a pikes throat.keep up the brilliant podcasts
Great stuff! What knot did mick say he used for the stop knot?
He uses power gum. You can also use pole elastic.
I have caught well over 200 Pike and not one on Mackerel which they seem to ignore.
Is this the langtoft lake down tongue end near Bourne? Someone please help me out? I’m interested in fishing there
I think I fished that water for carp very weedy
Yes it is, Mark. The Duke's rig sorts it though
@@MattHayesfish on a very feedy water how many feet above the weed line would you want to display your dead bait... float fishing that is.. would two feet be enough ................. a irish angler
Any advice on when to hit a bite? I've tried hitting them instantly and I've tried waiting between 5 and 30 seconds, whatever I do I just seem to be striking into thin air.
I usually wait a few seconds, wind down and almost point the rod at the pike. Keep winding until the line comes tight and then strike through the shoulder. The biggest failing among pike fishers is simply tapping the rod slightly when they strike. Its a habit form carp fishing which is a self-hooking thing. Wind the hooks into the pike and then set them with a firm pull right through the shoulder. Phew!
@@MattHayesfish Give it some welly. Gotcha
Thank you
Why is Mick called The Duke?
Just found this channel don't know where i've been " stupid boy "
Your one of my fishing hero's for around 25 years but please give us some of that old total fishing content and stop trying to sell fishing gear to us under the guise of a fishing program.
