Looking forward to part 4.
Your instructions are easy to follow , yet precise.
I'm glad you mentioned how to preheat the quench oil.
The grinding and sanding of the blade really impressed me. Great job. Thanks.
Just wanted to say really enjoy your content and the way you teach. Thx for sharing your knowledge! One of my favorite channels for sure! I look forward to more videos. 👍👍
That is awesome! Cheers
I really like your style and approach to the education side of things - especially when talking about alternative options; they way you present encourages thinking about thinking, which in turn encourages independent solution-making and problem-solving skills.
Your shop is also very simple compared to a lot of yubtubbers; this is not an insult. I see so many people who say, "I'll just step over to this $23k piece of equipment and have this done lickity-split," it is very discouraging to me to see in real time how out of reach those things are for me. When I look at your setup, it not only shows how things can be assembled and expanded over time, but also that quality and craftsmanship don't necessarily have anything to do with equipment. It's heartening to walk away with confidence that, "yeah, I can do this with what I have."
How do we get you a signal boost.
Best comment of the year my friend! Thank you. I really just do these videos because I enjoyed it. Glad you did also
Cheers
Airin
Yeah, you're # 1.
Thank you for the basics. Always good to do a video like that now and then. I enjoyed it.
A lot of people benefit from a trip back to the basics!
@@Aleeknives your 100% correct. Bevel work can be a challenge for me at times. You got great skills.
That knife is looking really good!
It's coming together
Is there a part 4? Don’t know if I just can’t find it or what, thanks for the great info!!
I would also love to know about part 4.
great lesson for beginners, should really help many of them out, many useful tips in there, good one Aerin
Great job buddy thanks
Any time!
Really enjoyed the video, and the series for that part! I have wanted to try knifemaking for a while, but i tought it was way too dificult with basic tools. Thank you for sharing your knowlegde!
Your welcome!
Boom!
Good job, dude
🤜🏻💥🤛🏻
Thanks Pete!
Where’d the footage of grinding the bevels go? Great videos btw
I just realized I left that out! I have a whole section about it!
@@Aleeknivesthanks for sharing these videos, did you ever upload part 2.5?
i was actually just trying to figure out the heat treatment with some of my first 1095 knives. i heard it is finicky to heat treat. thanks for the tips!
Great info again as usual where did you find your maker’s mark for cold steel? The ones I have seen are designed for hot metal
Those would work on cold annealed steel also, I would think
😎 👍🏼
Coming along nicely bud, it's gonna look sick. Where's the rest of the grinder build?
The grinder is finished all of the videos are in the grinder playlist
@@Aleeknives I guess I somehow missed the last one. I typically watch the day you drop a video
It was a couple weeks ago when I dropped the last one I've been on vacation
Thank you for the content! I was curious if you were headed to BladeShow in June?
Is unfortunately not this year
@@Aleeknives Bummer, I was hoping to meet you. Maybe next year.
I really hope I get to make it next year
Where is part 4?
Do you have any videos or info about the stand your forge is on? It kinda looks like a BBQ grill stand. I need one for my forge and I like the open style yours has.
That is exactly what it is! I found it in the trash and took the grill off the top and mounted my forge! Super easy and people throw away grills all the time!
Where did you get your flat cap?
Is there a part where you do the initial grind for the blade?
Yes, Go to the stock removal knife tutorial part 2 and start the video at 19:00
Hey mate love your channel!
Are you in Canada or US?
ie. °C or °F?
Freedomheit in America😉
Did I miss Part 2.5? When did you do the initial grinding?
😂🤣 no you didn’t miss it. I did😂 I have the footage but need to edit it and re-label the videos
@@Aleeknives All good, still an enjoyable watch.
At around 3:30 you referred to a book. Which book?
What type of 2x72 grinder do you have? Thanks gene
Revolution gen 2
does this heat treat process only apply to 1095 or can this be done with 80CRV2
Simple high carbon steels. 10xx steels. With 1095 being at the harder to heat treat side of the scale. I would start with 1075
