  • Bonjour friends! How are you? It's been awhile. We hope that you've all been well.
We were in the USA visiting family and finally put my step dad to rest in Arlington Military Cemetery in Virgina, after a long 2 year wait. He married my Mom when I was 2 years old when he had already spent most of his career in the Army, serving in Vietnam and retiring after 30 years of dedicated service. He always dreamed of Arlington as his final resting place and we are happy to have made that happen, albeit the continuous postponements for his cremated remains. It was a quiet ceremony and definitely trip to remember.
    Have a beautiful day!
    Jeni

The white covered dish -- hen on a nest -- that you picked up at the beginning is made by an American company called Avon. It's a door-to-door sales company, not unlike Tupperware. The hen dish sells used for around $8. It takes time to develop your eye to distinguish the kitsch from the valuable. Eventually you will :)

Not sure there looking for valuable exactly
I think they have a great eye and in design it’s not really the value but the style
If you have you have it

@@hazel1960 They absolutely are looking for things with value. They run an Etsy shop and ship things overseas. It wouldn't make sense to go through all of the time and effort that that takes only to make 2 or 3 dollars. People can learn from one another's experience. As Martha Stewart would say, "It's a good thing." ☺

What a fabulous piece of property you have. And wow, it sure grew a lot in one month based on what you told us. I too think having your step-dad finally buried in Arlington National Cemetery (where valor rests) 😢is a wonderful thing. We go there from southern Pennsylvania to visit an uncle buried there.

Good to see you back. You are always missed. Hope you had a nice break. Love your home with or without mowing. There was so much rain where I am at in Oregon that I had weeds like you. I think of weed pulling as therapeutic, but this year there was too much therapy. :)

Thank you K! Our neighbor told us that it rained most of the time that we were away. The garden growth makes sense now. 🤪

Thank you B! Do you have help for your garden? 🪴 We feel the most overwhelmed this year...compared to the last 2 years and have both decided that May is never a good time to leave. Let alone for 1 month!

Great you’re back. It certainly feels good to come back home in the beginning of summer and take care of your beautiful garden… the bees and other pollinators thank you from the bottom of their hearts for the month where they ran free around your garden.

What a great tribute to your stepdad. I'm happy to hear his family honored his request. I bet the ceremony was solemn but amazing at the same time, in a place such as Arlington.

We are still at the Frankfurt airport. Scared how my yard will look, after 3 weeks without care. Your place looks still beautifully romantic. ❤

We left for a month in October 2 years ago, but didn’t experience that much growth then. Are coming across bramble or nettles issues in your areas???

Well I missed you. Hello darlings. Wow the orchard is so big and Hairy is needing haircut. Jeni your new hairstyle is becoming. Justin collect the clover blooms for clover tea before you mow. It dries well and is great with honey in winter. Glad you made it home safe.

Glad to know you were away cause I was worried we might not see you back since your etsy shop was nowhere to be found and I have an overactive imagination. lol. Wonderful scenery and picks as usual. What region part of France are you guys in? I love the mountain views. Just doing some research for the future when I can convince him to move to France. ;o)

I think the tall green ones are borage. It seems that it has rained a lot in France lately. You certainly have a lot of work to do. Can you rent goats?

Renting animals?! Great idea. We’ve discussed having owners come over with their animals and eating for free. 🤪
