- Bonjour! When we discovered this beautiful traditional French stoneware we both fell in love with it, well...primarily Justin and it was he who encouraged our trip to the factory sale, held only once a year over the course of three days. The factory des Grès et Poteries de Digoin was a family business founded in 1875 but went through nearly a complete transformation by its newest owner Corinne Jourdain Gros who added a new range of colours and shapes. {I'll leave it up to you do the rest of the research into her past and part on google.}
I must admit that visiting the factory was a memorable experience. To be surrounded by all that pottery and to touch many of them for ourselves. WOW! We both noticed the tiny nuances of their character were distinguishable between each piece. Can you believe that all the pieces are shaped and glazed\enameled by hand, making each one unique! Yikes! The dedication artistry and skill is to be admired. We encourage you all a visit!

About the color of the cups, you're right about the reason. They didn't make all the beautiful colors they do nowadays. The factory was not doing well at the beginning of the 2000's and about 10 years ago the factory was about to close when a woman decided to give the factory a second chance and take another direction. She decided to modernize the designs and that's when they started adding the colors. Like you, I never find any other colors than neutrals and browns second hand, the colored items are simply too new. I absolutely loved everything you showed and will go to the vente next year. Been wanting to go last year but am waiting for my kitchen to be finished, it'll make more sense to go then! Thanks for taking us!
Corrine has done some good work! Next year, I’d like to invest in the more intricate pitchers.
You are not talking to yourself, we are not hiding, promise! This video gives me a great sense of beautiful pottery for sure! I will never look at a single piece without a full admiration! What beautiful Christmas gifts for you both. What a lovely stop at the factory! It is so stunning!

Thanks so much for watching! I imagine there exists a person with all the colors in their possession! A collection of rainbow pottery. 🤣
Lovely finds. Those dark green pots!!! I was shouting get that, ooh get that! It would be lethal for me to go there 🫣thanks as always for taking us along x
When I look back I always think, “why didn’t I get that?!”
Paradise❤
Love the Digoin .. so happy you’re both supporting Marloes and her book 😊
The book is wonderful! 💕 Bon weekend
Everything was beautiful- especially the fish casserole and green bowl.
Very unique! I imagine in 50 years time, that fish will be a novelty! 🤣
OMG! Had to pause the video where you're at the Digoin vente. Definitely coming with you next time!!
Please do! 💕
OH, WOW! I would have purchased everything white there. Also loved the big flower pot looking pieces that were blue/greenish but not quite teal. I'm sure you will now look for more of the used pieces after seeing the factory. Please go there again and film it.
Me too Colleen, I wanted everything from that “one section.” 🫶 As much as I appreciate the newer ones, I prefer the feeling of the used ones. I’m so strange that way. It’s a feeling in after. Thank you so much for your order! I can’t wait for you to tell me what you think/feel about your pre-loved Digoin!
14:48 très belle visite merci 15:21
Jeni -- We sooo love watching (and learning from) your videos. Also, I may have an answer to your question about the numbers on the base of your mixing bowls. You were wondering why the larger bowls have smaller numbers and why the numbers get larger as the bowls get smaller. I heard that the number denotes how many bowls can be placed on a board in a kiln.
Thank you for your support here and for potentially solving the pottery mystery.💕
Wow that factory was lust causing.
My kind of outing. Your excitement is fun to watch. I wouldn't have thought I like the dark green with the white, but it looks beautiful at your place. And these beautiful dishes would be a shame to put inside a cupboard.
Thank you for watching. Yes, another reason to appreciate open spaces, to see and enjoy what we own. Happy Holidays S & D
I love all the pottery and all the colours 😍
We'll definitely be stopping off at MD this summer on our way back from the south of France
We would love to check out the Brocante shop too. Can you give us the name of the town
We would be delighted
Hello it’s in the village of Digoin. 💕
i need these mixing bowls in my life
They are addicting!!🤣
@@Frenchcountryfriends i went straight to Tradera the Swedish equivalent to eBay and found vintage bowl for 5£ ☺️☺️ a little Christmas gift from me to me hehe
so grateful to Marloes - I follow her vlog and that's how I found yours! Waiting for her book to arrive
Hi Alma, It's so good, you will enjoy every beautiful page. 💕
@@Frenchcountryfriends - I follow quite a few wonderful vlogs but must say if/when I visit France yours will be one I must stay with. You are a delight.
💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
I sympathize with your pottery obsession.
For me it has lasted 40 years!
Between the look, touch and feel…whew!!!!! I wonder what your collection looks like! 🫶
I really admire the pottery, it's lovely, however they are not entirely glazed which make them rough in touch .
😍 Hi! Yes great observation! The new ones are rough but will eventually soften because of the sandstone. The vintage ones are much softer which is definitely why I prefer those.
🙂@@Frenchcountryfriends
Love all your finds i collect all these things too what is your etzy site
Yay! Birds of feather flock together. Our store name is also French Country Friends. 💫
What is the plate with holes for.... curious.
A colander. I always keep one in the sink to help wash veggies or for straining my pasta and beans.
Microwave, oven, dishwasher, stovetop safe?
Lovely but, you're going to use it, right?
Absolutely! 💕
