- Inspired by a bunch of RUclips channels like @thepaintingphase and @BroadswordWargaming, I've decided to embark on some 28mm Napoleonic wargaming on the tabletop. The first port of call obviously has to be Sharpe's Chosen Men and the British Riflemen that you can get in plastic from Wargames Atlantic.

I have a look at the sprues that you get in the box and chat about making your Napoleonic troops from the standpoint of someone who knows very little beyond what's in Sharpe! I also have a chat about using them for my game of choice, Chosen Men, from Osprey Games.
I have some plans for a small set of skirmishing forces for the French and the British so that I can replay some of those gallant adventures that Sharpe and his men get into.

Perkins, Harris and hagman. Perkins was the young one, Harris was the book smart one and hagman was the old poacher
Thank you haha - I remembered Hagman after I finished the unboxing but I'm going to mark the names on the bottom of the bases so I don't forget in the future :)
Then there was Cooper the Londoner with the lockpicks and tongue tall thin one with bandana
I remember watching Sharpe's Rifles as a young man on PBS (btw - while I have a boxed UK set of the series, I believe a quick search on YT will yield an HD quality list)! Those minis look incredible and I'm looking forward to seeing the completed squad.
I'm wowed that Wargames Atlantic basically sells boxed sets for $1.50/fig. Such a different approach than some companies (GW). It baffles me that fans show such love to a company where often a single fig will cost as much as $50+. It's like a dysfunctional relationship.
I have indeed been watching the version of Sharpe on RUclips (with the Spanish subtitles haha) - it has been fun. I need to watch the episodes that were filmed later based in India. Haven't seen those in ages.
Yeah, Wargames Atlantic are pretty darn good with their plastic kits. They are properly awesome value for money
Never done 28mm Naps, might give it a try that looks fun.
Yeah I think Chosen Men keeps the hefty miniature count of other games managable and with kits like this one around, you can have some real fun. Especially if you're coming at things from a more "Hollywood" approach where things are a bit more swash and buckle!
These are nice minis, with great scope for kitbashing. I have made some as early American settlers, protecting their log cabins from the natives. Nice review. Haven't seen the rules yet.
Ah awesome idea - I'll be going into the rules a bit more either this weekend or next week :)
Really enjoyed this,I've just subbed, great review on a very nice box, justin
Thanks for watching and subbing - glad you enjoyed the review!
Nice unboxing. Looking forward to seeing what Chosen Men is like.
Should be getting a look at it soon - will do a flick through of it :)
Dammm you Ben you made buy a book lol . Minis are looking great
Hah neat - I hope you enjoy reading it! Yeah, the miniatures are ace :)
Ben? I love that you have your own channel! Thanks for covering historical minis, so few do. Great video.
Thanks :) Usually just use this for my odd ramblings haha. Yeah, been going down a little bit of a historical rabbit hole. Cheers for watching!
My box has 16 Riflemen and 16 WWII French resistance fighters! Came here to make sure that wasn't intentional :D
How odd!
Awesome execution with sharp! I think you nailed the uniform colors
Thanks! I was worried that it was going to look too "army man" - been working on Harper and Hagman this week and been an interesting little journey!
3 rounds a minute - in any weather Sir!
The only way to do it ;)
Haven’t seen those rules yet, looking forward to a look through them
Will let you know what I think as well!
I’m just about to start assembling these and have the Warlord games equivalent on order. Plan to use them in a diorama alongside some Warhammer space marines and tank for a “War of the Worlds “/ Futuristic Nazis time travel vibe.
Ah sounds awesome!
If you liked what I do and fancy giving me a little donation, a Ko-Fi is always welcome ko-fi.com/becauseofdragons
Sharpe hardly ever wears a pelise…he only really wears it when he’s in London during Regiment. Usually just wears his standard jacket or great coat. Shame WA put in the Nock gun but completely omitted Sharpe’s preferred straight heavy cavalry sword…I used a later set of arms from a Zulu War British officer as they came with a more appropriate straight sword.
Ah that's true - looks swish though. I do agree on the sword though - would have preferred that heavy son of a gun!
So... uuuhhhh... anyone else just really wanting to kitbash these into some new 40K imperial guard regiment?
I think that would be pretty neat - it would be interesting to see if you could find some Sci-Fi bits that worked to the same proportions
What paints are you using for the chosen men?
Using regular Citadel paints for my Chosen Men. I am tempted to try Contrast to see if I can get the green looking any better though
Your not Gerry
...yet ;)
