As a taxi driver in Scotland, the confidence I have in the presentation and cleanliness of my taxi just skyrocketed thanks to the taxi in Dili. 😂😂
As a general rule in Australia, the passenger sits next to the taxi driver in the front.
@@joelbibleman9648this wasn’t in Australia tho
@@joelbibleman9648 and yet none of my friends or family do this
…Amen, brother!
Yes, not many tourists and the ones who do go will never go again!
QantasLink's (Alliance's) E190s can also be found in Wellington NZ and Honiara, Solomon Islands outside of Australia
I'm sure I
Yes but Wellington is like a 4 hour flight from SYD.
@@oliverjumelle Regardless. It's still outside of Australia. And it actually comes from Brisbane.
That's correct. As a Wellingtonian I can confirm this.
WLG- BNE is definitely an E190 route at present - I did read recently that this will be changed (back) to a B737 in around Sept. 24.
That taxi seat cleanliness…1 out of 5 ⭐️.
I’d say 0 / no stars ⭐️ 🤔🤷♂️😂🤡

Noel’s face told the whole story.
QantasLink worker here! I’m super excited to see a familiar plane that I myself have serviced, in your video!
I wish they would bring the QantasLink jets here to Wagga, only have the turboprops here.
8:55 wow a fly flying while sitting still!
I wonder if it has to fill in an entry card too😂😂🪰
The fly didn't HAVE any contraband, it WAS the contraband!!!
I just hope it wasn't an invasive species...
Yes the flight from Dili is pretty short. When I lived in Timor Leste, I would meet up with my partner for weekends in Darwin. Often he was halfway through his flight from Sydney before I left my home in Dili to go to the airport.
We would still arrive in Darwin at the same time.
Seeing that entry card for Australia makes me think of all those Australian border force shows where they constantly ask smugglers "Is this your card? Did you read it? Why did you check NO when you have a bag full of high-risk food?! That'll be $340." 😂
I didn’t realize flying to Indonesia and than stopping in Australia will trigger a warning? Add this to one of many things not to do before heading to Australia.
English-speaking countries tend to have the most ridiculous border checks.
@@JeanClaudeCOCOBecause of Foot & Mouth disease i think is why they ask on the declaration card.
@paddymelon94 If you ever watched the show, it's more Biosecurity given Australia's unique wildlife. That's why on the show they go after anyone with raw or controlled foods.
@@JeanClaudeCOCOAccording to the Australian Border Control shows, there is lots of drug trafficking between Indonesia and Oz.
You should have a flight on Airnorth, The northern terrritories airline. Airnorth is also the 2nd oldest operating airline in australia too!
Summer is the rainy season in Australia's tropical regions.
@@rolfgren9076 It's currently early Autumn here in Australia.
In the NT its either the dry season or the wet season - no summer or winter.
1:57 …channel 4 ‘The IT Crowd’ loved that show 😂
Air North has been flying this route for many years well before Covid. At one stage they flew Australia's only non-jet international flight by using an Embraer Brasilia. The flights operated with an Air North flight number and a QF codeshare flight number
Great to see you back in Oz ! look forward to the videos.
The Indonesia check at passport control is because of foot and mouth outbreak in Indonesia so they want to check peoples shoes etc.
Happy Easter Noel! Hope you are feeling better and on the mend! Take care of yourself out there...
Qantas E190 also flys international from Brisbane to Wellington
Great review and a great idea to visit before heading onwards to Australia. Your videos make my day much better. I appreciate what you do. Hello to your family as well!
I flew from Darwin to Dili in 1973. East Timor was still a Portuguese colony. As you might expect it was quite rustic, but wonderfully exotic. From Dili I flew to Kupang in an Otter. Timor was perhaps the most memorable experience of my2 1/2 years on the ‘road’!
They also used de Havilland Doves back then as well.
@@adriaandeleeuw8339 if memory serves me correctly, I think I was on a Fokker from Darwin to Bacău and probably a Fokker from Kupang to Den Pasar
I hope you're feeling better and a very happy Easter to you and your family.
UPDATE: The stowaway fly has been taken into custody and is being questioned.
Lol
Do they still walk though the planes with bug spray when you land in Australia?
Why would they do that i live here and no bugs to worry about @fixpacifica
@@lorrainemcintyre807I flew into Sydney years ago and upon landing the flight attendants walked through the cabin spraying bug spray.
😂😂😂
That snack pack you were given on this short flight all-in-all is pretty good for a hour flight, it’s all you need / a lite refreshment is better than nothing at all i reckon!. Awesome✈️travel review Noel, hope you & family all enjoyed your Easter long weekend break!., looking forward to your next video👍
Happy Easter Noel! Excellent video as always! Hope you're feeling a bit better and have a speedy recovery! Take it easy 🫶🏼
Northern Australia is tropical. Rainy season is between November and April. Go south of the Tropic of Capricorn for hot dry summer weather. Work on that accent while you are about it 🤭
Happy to see you back great Noel, love you from Nigeria 🇳🇬
Happy Easter Noel and Family!!!
This Was Nice Short Flight To Australia. Quantaslink Was Not Bad For E190 Flight. Australia Is Somewhere I Have Always Wanted To Go. Happy Easter @noelphilips & Wishing You & Your Family The Best Sunday. ❤️
Great video as always Noel, QantasLink also have E190 services on Brisbane to Wellington and Brisbane to Honiara as well :)
Rather do the Solomon Airlines A320 that was a better flight for me than the Embraer
Great review again mate. Welcome back to Aus.
The E190 also does Brisbane - Wellington and Brisbane - Honiara ❤
Happy Easter to you & the family Noel. Hope the rib is feeling better
Love your videos and nice to see you fly into my neck of the woods, hope you enjoyed it.
Alway a pleasure when I see new content by Noel.
Great stuff Noel, always enjoy your content 😊
Could always call it a bog inspection plus review 😅
Many thanks mate.
Love the embraer series. Currently in flight school to fly the E175
I love this variant.
seriously better as a passenger in a 175 than a middle seat of a 737
I'm fond of them as well. I find them quite comfortable. They are used as a regional carrier in my area after a long 737 Max flight. And it's honestly a pleasure to get off that United 737 and onto the embraer.
@@nataliesutherland6655 yup! Republic airways flies all of United, delta, and American embraers. I’m in their flight program. I completely agree with you
I love your videos sooo much and never thought you would come here!!!
Ur the best Noel. I love you and your beautiful wonderful family!!!
Hi Noel - happy Easter to you and your family!
Good to see another video Noel. Love thjs shortest flight !
Love the videos every week Noel , look forward to them 👍
Glad you like them!
Nothing in the waiting room. You should of bought a suitcase full on Noel's merch. Everyone need a pair of Noel's socks!😂😂😂😂😂
Happy Easter Noel to you and your family , keep up the good work I love it 👍
Haven't been to Darwin yet but it's on our to-go places list now, thanks to you!
Love Australia!
You'll never, never know if you never, never go!
A family friend of mine had flown from Dili to Darwin in the late 60's dring the Portuguese era. He went across Asia on land and that was the only plane he had used. He recalled as it being a small plane, possibly a biplane or something.
ususally that trip ended with a ferry to darwin, if my source remembers correctly.
Awesome content as always.
Happy Easter Noel!
Hope you're going to have a look around Darwin. I've only been there once but I absolutely loved it. People were chilled and friendly and there were some wonderful sights to visit. Another great video. Definitely an unusual flight to take to enter Australia.
Another great video as always Noel. Watching it on a Monday, but it is bank holiday here. And as it’s still early, well before 12:00, there’s no wine and cheese this week, just more Easter egg chocolate. Happy Easter to you and yours!
Happy Easter, Noel!
👏👏 great vlog Noel, keep up the good work mate. 👏👏🙏
Thanks 👍
Qantaslink is meant for regional flights within Australia, but this... Quite an exception.
Not just regional these days. They also fly all ADL-BNE flights.
Coincidentally Alliance also fly ADL-BNE for Virgin, but with Fokker F100’s instead of the E190’s.
Yeah not just regional anymore, Perth to Darwin is another one Qantaslink service.
Qantaslink will also be flying to Singapore from Darwin from December 2024
Or to put it another way, Qantaslink is becoming more of an American style regional carrier. Some American regional flights can be as long as 2 to 3 hours in length.
@@Tvsnumber1fan Makes sense given Australia is a vast country like the US, and even more sparsely populated.
I’m impressed by the snack pack but I was genuinely impressed with getting a cereal bar and cup on tea on a recent E190 BA flight between Edinburgh and LCY. Last time I took that route there was nothing, even though I’m old enough to remember getting a sandwich and glass of wine on the same route.
I was in Colombia a few months ago, and the mini bar was fully stocked in my Holiday Inn room. I don't touch the stuff. I usually walk over to a supermarket and get my own stuff for less than 50% of the mini bar prices.
The only time I touch a mini bar is when it's included.
You don't get "summer, autumn, winter and spring" in the tropical north. Being a tropical monsoon climate, there's "the wet," "the dry," and the "the buildup." The buildup is way more unpleasant than the wet season.
Haha! The IT Crowd cut in…classic! 😂. Love this channel! Noel is so polite.
Thanks for watching!
I love to see that you are in Australia again! Keep up the great work, if you are looking for any museums I recommend the South Australian aviation museum i have been and it is worth it.
summer is the rainy season in northern Australia - its the tropics!
Happy easter to all those that celebrate! and If not happy sunday!
Nice little aircraft the E190! Also Noel I have to agree with You that Lindor are the best chocs!❤
Just so you know, Darwin and the Top End of Australia does not have four seasons. They have two: dry season and wet season. So when you said summer, it was the wet season. Because for most of six months of the year, it rains every day and the other six in the cooler months (but still warm) it never rains.
Always good to travel with the NOEL
Nice video Noel! Glad to see the QantasLink E190 on your channel? Will you try to fly their A220-300 this trip?
Cheers 🍻 mate!
Caleb’s Aviation 😊
Looking forward to the Australia videos!
Great video Noel! Just a quick correction: Qantas was already flying Darwin - Dili in its Embraer 170 way before covid. I know that because I took that exact route back in 2019. Keep up the good work! 👍
As you can tell by the interior, that E190 used to fly for American Airlines. It looked familiar when i flew with them in December. They picked up a handful of them back in 2022.
I believe the Indonesia thing was to do with a farm type disease outbreak. Can't remember the specific one but I know the 'have you been there in the last 7 days' question started throughout my travels to Australia.
BNE-WLG
BNE-HIR are also E190 routes and soon DRW-SIN will start. Great video as always.
Hello Noel! Yes, I agree with you about East Timor! The best!
Another good video 📹 Noel. I have to agree Lindor are amazing, I had the strawberry 🍓 & cream version recently & they were fab.
Your videos are so interesting, is there anywhere you haven't been that you want to visit? Apologies if you have answered that previously I admit I haven't seen your whole back catalogue!
OK take care
In the Far North of Australia we have only 2 seasons, the wet and the dry. The Tropic of Capricorn extends north from Rockhampton QLD on the east coast, Alice Springs NT in Central Australia and the Carnarvon/Exmouth WA area on the west coast. The further north you travel the wetter it gets...monsoon rainfall wet.
I do like the Embraer 190. A very comfortable small jet.
It's not the only international flight Qantas does with the Embraer 190, they also fly between Wellington New Zealand and Brisbane Australia 🙂
Just loving hearing that Qantas boarding music
Noel, love your reviews as always. I have flown through IAH a half dozen times in the last few months, and I am always on the lookout for you since you moved to Texas. I thought I saw your wife in the United Club yesterday, and was hopeful to get to meet you both, but it turned out it was a different lovely lady. Maybe next time!
E190s also fly Brisbane to Wellington, NZ - I'm going on one soon! Unfortunately they're being replaced by 737s from October so get in while you can!
I took this flight from Darwin to Timor Leste for the eclipse last year. A fantastic sight to see, in a country that is clearly in its early strides of independence. AC was broken during taxi, until about 20 mins in the air, so a bit sweaty to say the least 😅
Darwin is the main place I want to visit in Oz but I wasn't expecting it to be raining! Love to see more of Darwin.
Happy Easter!
Great video and thanks for keeping us aware and conscious of these unique places in the world exist. How was the descent into Darwin?
I've only been to Darwin during the wet season (Summer) & its quiet but laborious to breath air because of the humidity. Workers are up there during the Dry Season mostly but, it still has a busy nightlife during the wet.
The trash on the beach is flowing in from Indonesia, Bali has the same issue, it is not localized. You can actually see huge plooms of trash floating around when you see some satellite shots of he area
Not totally. The Timorese have not yet got the anti littering bug. There is rubbish and plastic litter all over the island, including in mountain villages.
I was in one of the microlets (vans that serve as public transport) one day, and watched one of my fellow passengers finish their drink, open a window and toss the empty bottle out.
@@brontewcat horrible. We Australians detest littering, and I'm glad
Non sense, it because there is no any janitors in Dili
@@jj-if6it To be fair we were also pretty bad in the 1970s, and we had kerbside rubbish collection and bins on the streets.
I was amazed several years ago when I visited my father-in-law in his shop house in Indonesia; he made some lunch and afterwards I offered to help him clear away the scraps. He gave me a plate with some scraps, took one himself, led me outside and threw the contents of the plate into a stream running alongside his house.
What a lovely addition to my Easter 😄
Good review buddy, can also see them in Honiara and Wellington from Brisbane. Heading to Darwin in a few months on one of these from Melbourne via Adelaide. But yeah all the E190’s are leased from Alliance Airlines, the jets are mainly based in Darwin and Brisbane, i think a few in Adelaide as well.
The QantasLink E190 now flies to Wellington in NZ as well.
Always love your content Phil!!!
Phil?!
@@damcoentertainment3956Phil Noellips
Love the IT Crowd clip thrown in there
Dili isn’t the only QantasLink international destination, they also fly to Port Moresby, PNG with Dash-8-Q400s.
The E190 is a wet lease flown by Alliance (QQ) which is about 25% owned by Qantas.
BTW, we have CROCODILES in Australia, NOT Alligators. Crocs are MUCH bigger.
Especially the "salties" - they are big buggers.
I will say Lindor chocolate is my favorite. The chocolate just melts in your mouth. Great video
No mention to the crocodile on the hotel bed in Darwin? hahaha it looked awesome 15:19
Noel, if you think Lindt is good, you should try its older brother, Sprüngli chocolate, next time you're passing through Zürich.
Ugh Lindt sucks
Welcome to Australia Noel. Just to let you know, the Shangri-La hotel's are still stocking mini bars. The Hilton Doubletree in Melbourne did, but very basic I have to say. Looking forward to seeing your Trip Review from The Overland.
Enjoyed...thanks
What a lovely Easter video.
Hi Noel & Family. I found your channel about 4 weeks ago & I love it. I subscribed and watch constantly. Hope Rachel is doing ok. I feel her pain as I have severe Fibromyalgia plus multiple other illnesses. Fibromyalgia is very very debilitating & painful. I am too sick to travel now. Hope you have had a happy Easter. Hope life in Texas is good. I am born and bred in Manchester although I don’t live there any more. I live by the sea on an island in North Wales. Take care to you and your lovely family. 🤗xx
"Where is everyone"?
Well, if you're a citizen of a developing country such as Timor-Leste and you want a tourist visa to Australia, it is *super* hard. You need to do a medical, get travel insurance, prove you have a job to go back to in your country, prove you have enough money to sustain your visit, prove you have the return ticket and accommodation, and apply (in person, I think) at an embassy or consulate. And pay $200 per person as an application fee. And you might still get knocked back.
Sometimes Australia shoots itself in the foot.
By the way, dont think you could become a permanent resident of a developed country to avoid all this pain. It wont help. Also, if you have family in Australia this is likely to work *against* you.
I live in Australia, with relatives and friends living in Singapore on Indonesian passports, and they simply dont visit us because of the hassle of getting a visa.
So that's why the plane is empty. The Australians prefer to go to Bali for holidays, and the Timorese likely cant get a visa withour jumping through a load of hoops.
I felt the same after going from Bali to Darwin. Just to put in context the size of Australia, Melbourne is closer to Antarctica than it is to Darwin.
Adelaide is the closest capital city to Darwin, but Darwin is the farthest capital city from Adelaide
3:22 the e190 flys to wellington nz aswell.
Wow East Timor sure has some WEIRD vibes! That was an awesome adventure!
I really like the Embraer 190...flew from Darwin to Melbourne a few weeks ago on one. QANTAS are always handing out Lindt chocolates at random times lol. In Australia, Darwin is known as the Gateway to Asia.... Its seasonal...Wet season / Dry season.
Welcome to Australia, Noel!
From Brian in Sydney
As someone who works around the QantasLink E190, they fly 3 international flights currently. BNE-WEL Mon-Sun, BNE-HIR Mon, Fri, Sun and DRW-DIL Mon-Sun.
great video Noel! I hope you’re doing well
There's hardly anyone on the plane because we don't go to East Timor for holidays, unfortunately. It's not on people's minds as a tourist destination for various reasons (e.g. unsafe and as you can see, dirty and run down). It's a bit sad because our lives are so much different in Australia and it's just next door! I think most Australians who are going there probably work for the government or similar
That's the sane between Indonesia and Australia too though. Australian tourists completely oblivious how locals live.
