"Katherine was pretty moist but soon dried up as I approached" - Ok
Felt that one
😬😬😬
Katherine is definitely an old woman.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
'i have pulled out of katherine' Noel Philips 2024
You missed and moved onto Rachel
“Katherine is pretty moist today”
@@JebKJ21 'tis a joke my dude
Katherine was pretty moist today.
Superb!
"Unlike Darwin, Katherine was pretty moist today" - Noel Philips 2024 😂
“But soon dried up as I approached” 😂
He said "much like Darwin"
"I've just pulled out of Katherine then move on to Alice"
Let us not forget Katherines landing strip
and then he went riding on a Virgin
Glad Katherine had a good landing strip.
Glad so many got off on it, too.
It’s part of an Air Force base…
HA you beat me to it.
😂
Crikey, there are so many things I could say to this 😂
How many innuendos can you get in one video ,a lot 🤣🤣🤣
Nothing like a good in your endo.
Catherine was pretty moist
"Katherine, where most people seem to get off" 🤣
That man looked at your bag on that luggage scale and was like “nooooooo no no nooooooo. 😂😂😂
It was like Dikembe Mutombo was working the luggage desk.
Too honest Noel
That was a Charlie Veitch "not allowed!"
School boy Noel enjoying the innuendos 😂
I enjoyed it too! 🤣
The reason the airfield at Katherine is so large for such a small settlement is that it is also a Royal Australian Air Force base, hosting 75 Sqn with F35 Lightning aircraft.
I just love how you threw "Katherine's landing strip" in the narration just to get one last innuendo before heading down south.
Heading down South, huh? I see who ... errm ... what you did there!
We all enjoyed watching Noel get into Alice after pulling out of Katherine and then catching a virgin to Adelaide 😂. Only in Australia 🇦🇺 😂
Well said, mate 👍
Katherine Airport is also known as RAAF Base Tindal.
It is home to No 75 Squadron which is currently equipped with F-35A strike fighters, which have recently replaced the fleet of F/A-18 Hornets.
The aircraft parked at Alice Springs started to become a thing during Covid, it is more of a storage facility than a boneyard /scrapyard, a lot of aircraft originally stored have returned back to commercial service.
Yes Australia is more ‘greener’ that a lot of overseas people think, it’s not just one big desert with a bit of green around the edges.
Only about 18% of Australia is actual desert, adding areas of dry and arid regions brings the total of ‘desert/dry arid’ to a bit more than 30%, The rest of the landscape can vary from tropical rain forests to snow covered mountains in winter, and everything in between.
Cheers,
looks like a new runway....
The runway is being extended and there are a whole range of other upgrades for other visiting RAAF aircraft to use when deployed to Tindal.
Last I read they are over half way with the upgrades.
Australia has all of America's old technology lol
And what ‘old’ technology would that be?
@@johnnewman366 those jets lol and the submarines Australia will be getting in 20 years 🤦♂️👍
I drove this route over 2 weeks. It was super dry back then. So cool to see it from the air. Enjoy Australia!
The train , called The Ghan is another great option to get from the Northern Territory through all the little towns in the centre of Australia, down to Adelaide
Definitely on my bucket list.
@adamcole4623 It was on my bucket list as well until I saw the cost Adelaide-Alice Springs-Darwin. 😮
@@PlanesTrainsEverything It's ridiculously expensive, isn't it? I've been looking at The Spirit of the Outback or the Indian Pacific; still expensive, but not Ghan prices!
Done this in 04 and I can thoroughly recommend it
ill check it out - worth doing
I love the first guy who checked in your luggage, his smile was everything lol
Rain in the red centre is pretty rare mate, you were very lucky - only sees water a few times a year. We had the same luck a few years ago - managed to see the Todd River flowing in Alice - it's dry 360 days a year - quite the sight.
As an aviation fanatic, I have to say that the aircraft with the turbo prop looked a lot like a P 51 Mustang as you were sitting there looking at that polished engine cowling and propeller! Pretty cool!
Katherine Airport is both a military and civil aviation facility. Otherwise known as RAAF Base Tindal.....#75 Squadron is based there and operate F35A's.
I would have done this milk run; if for no other reason, it would have been a sentimental journey. I spent many hours on the Embraer 120's back in the 1990's. I think the last time was in 1997 between Beaumont Texas to Houston. It saved my buddy a 90 mile drive to IAH. I really miss the days of the turboprops in the US regional markets.
The helicopter at 12:30 has a New Zealand registration, ZK-HNR. Just checked on flightradar and it flew to Australia in Jan 2024 via Kerikeri, Norfolk Island, Lord Howe Island to the Gold Coast. Can't help wondering what it is doing in Australia. Really enjoy following along with Noel on these flights.
The Embraer 120 will always have a special place in my heart! One of my favorite rides! Especially flying into Palm Springs on a hot windy sunmer day! I learned to love turbulence from that plane!
“Cathrine was pretty moist today” 😂😂😂
That Embraer 120 looked pretty awesome. Streamlined and beautiful. I have only been on one turbo prop and it was the best flight of my life. It was awesome to see you take the longer trip to enjoy that special aircraft... save the small Loo lmao. ✈✈
I love Air North. One of my favourite airlines to fly, great grew and the catering in their E-Jets is great too
You’re at the back end of the wet season up there Noel, that’s why it’s so green.
As an Australian the highlight of any visit to the NT is to check the NT News headlines!
I've done some work at Katherine airport which is also RAAF Tindal airbase, thus the size. There is a road that crosses the runway with a set of traffic lights on it controlled by the control tower. You are basically warned failure to comply with those lights is grounds for being kicked off the base, especially as a non military person!
Also the drive from Darwin to Katherine is interesting also, as there are all the old WWII era airstrips beside the road.
Had a friend who was touring Africa years ago and had a croc bite her head (she has a photo of blood pouring down her face).
Many years later shes in Darwin and one of her drinking friends is a NT times reporter, she tells this story and he bloody loves it..Loves it so much that the headline a few days later was "CROC ATTACKS DARWIN WOMEN!"
Katherine's landing strip. Oh Noel!!!
🤣🤣🤣
Nice seating layout on the Embraer 120. Very friendly airline & security staff at Alice Springs.
i worked for westair in the 90s, and i really liked tghe 120s. They were headquartered in Fresno California with major hubs in LAX and SFO.
I adore these sorts of videos Noel, small airlines you'd never even know about unless you'd been there and done it. Also, the chrome on the cowling off that Embraer 120 😍😍😍
Yeah the chrome was stunning. (Or polished aluminium idk.)
definitely not chrome
@alanmacdonald7435 what a productive comment, well done you.
Katherine is a shared military airport hence the size
The same with Darwin.
and you could see work on the adjacent runway
So they share Katherine?
Also the closest airport to Pine Gap too isn't it?
@@Rosenburge no Pine Gap is just outside of Alice Springs. About 1300 km away!
That ground staff woman at checkin was like 'no theres a camera' 😂😂😂 This flight review is full of inuendo love it ❤❤❤
Great video Noel! Also the Embraer EMB-120 Brasilia flying the route is also always cool! 🇧🇷 Flying Embraer’s old turboprops are always fun and remind me of the aviation past from my early years!
Cheers 🥂 mate!
-Caleb’s Aviation 😊
Australia is absolutely the top of my bucket list places to go. Much appreciate you taking us along until I can get there, and on a tiny plane!
Aussie here... Never heard of this airline. Thanks for sharing. Do come back some time in July. The dry season is beautiful in the NT
You made it to my city, Adelaide. I'm a British Expat and absolutely LOVE Adelaide. 😊
Was there last December for five weeks, loved it especially Grange and Henley beach, back home in Ireland now
The innuendos are priceless and so fitting for Australia and the Australian audience. 😂
not a Sunday without a noel Phillips video
Oh man, I haven't been on an EMB 120 in over 20 years. Delta Connection used to use them to get to an airport near family. If it tells you anything about the 120, when they were replaced by the CRJ 200 I immediately thought "wow, these are comfortable!"
EMB-120 was the first turboprop I remember flying on back in August 1989! I remember the drink very nearly vibrating off my tray table.
Was anyone else kind of hoping he'd get stuck in Alice Springs so we could get some more Alice Springs? I like seeing the out-of-the-way places where Noel gets stuck!
The innuendos continue 👍
Alice Springs is NOT the sort of town you want to visit at the moment. Too dangerous with the local gangs of kids.
@@coover65 I've been to far worse places than Alice Springs. The media exagerates the issues somewhat.
@@JustinWatson23 It's definitely a hole. Makes Mount Isa seem like Vienna.
@@JustinWatson23 I've never been to Alice, but as a retired cop I keep an ear to the ground via police chats. You're absolutely right though; the media rarely paints an accurate picture.
Loved the plethora of double entendres in this episode. Always look forward to Noel on Sunday. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Noel is the best flight reviewer. He makes me laugh every report. Even better with arriving in Katherine 😂
Pity he can't get basic facts right.
As usual, the least tourist-traveled route is the most interesting .. and a time to learn and appreciate. Lots of fun!!!
Flew Alice springs to Darwin last year, drove a camper van round to Katherine, it's a nice town in the wet season the fords have depth gauges at the side of the road in metres. Not desert. The boneyard at Alice springs was great wish I'd had time to look around.
We had a 6 hour bus from uluru as there's no flights from uluru to Darwin when we were there.
09:49 Should have said "That was the Noel Philips Loo Review. What a tight one"
"Slight Stink, sorry flight link" Gottem 😲😱😝
I used to love flying the 120's here in the Northeast U.S. years ago!!
"I've pulled out of Katherine and I'm moving on to Alice."
What a player.
8:58 That MUST be the SMALLEST Aeroplane Lavatory you've ever been in, Noel❔️ ❗️🤔I am severely claustrophobic, so I'm gonna stick to traveling on the bigger planes 👀👍❗️🤣
That's a pretty good price for all of that. I would be so stressed with that tight connection so I would absolutely take the one flight if possible! Thank you for another fun and interesting video, look forward to the next one.
Wait posted 2 days ago when it was only uploaded today

Really dont be. Those tiny town airports are usually very helpful.
Looks like sitting on private jet plane
But this one can see clear view propellor
I grew up flying on the EMB120, so good to know if I want to fly it one last time, I can still find them down in AUS!
15:19 What a gorgeous little stroll! I think that’s how I’d imagine Australia
I flew out of Darwin on the day of joint maneuvers between th USAF and the RAAF. USAF F15s and F16s, and RAAF F18s; Ospreys; C130s and a C17. I wasn't bored waiting for my flight.
I've flown from Darwin a few months ago... had exact same brekky :)))
Welcome to Adelaide Noel!
If you’re ever here again, feel free to reach out and I’ll show you around some of our wonderful sites! I hope you enjoyed your time here.
Thank You Noel for to wonderful video. It brought back so many memories flying on the EMB 120. Your previous EMB 120 flights in Africa i was actually on that same tail number twice when it flew for United Skywest in the states SFO MRY and LAX SAN. Not this plane. There are so few Brasilias left still flying. Thanks for sharing and bringing past memories back to life
Glad you enjoyed it.
6:28 - well you just flew between two military airbases (RAAF Darwin, to RAAF Tindal) yes, both airstrips are military operated strips, the guys in the tower wear military uniforms.
Hi Noel, the AW139 helicopter was on a delivery flight from New Zealand heading to Western Australia to support the oil and gas industry. Of course, it was wet season in tropical Northern Australia, but from late April to November it will be as dry as a Pom’s towel.
"Taxiing out to Catherines landing strip" 😂😂😂
Great coverage Noel yet again. 👍
And hilarious, as an Aussie we love this and you got away with it beautifully.😂
AirNorth used to fly down to my home airport OOL (Gold Coast) from Townsville, the Embraer E170 flight originated in Darwin.
Bonza Airlines now do this route three times a week.
Glad you enjoyed it
Loving the shine from those engines ✈️
I would love to be able to fly on an old EMB120 again. Flew out of Bakersfield California to L.A. a few times and once to San Francisco. Great fun riding in a prop aircraft.
"Pulled out of Catherine and I am moving onto Alice and by Golly you really feel the vibration in the seat of your pants when thins thing takes off from the thrust! It’s incredible". Noel the Legend!
Thank you for all of the innuendoes
Noel, you were definitely leap frogging across Australia 🦘😂. Great video as Always ❤. Safe travels 😘.
Love that the flight attendant uses the plane's propeller as an umbrella.
“Pulled out of Katherine, and on to Alice”….😂😂
I’ve got ya beat with crossing the country in a small plane. I rented a Piper Cherokee and am spending 100 hours flying around the country. Just started yesterday and am 6.6 hours in. Only 93.4 to go. 😢 This is going to be a long 2 weeks! I’d rather be in a EMB-120! Great video as always!
Which country? Madagascar?
@@americanbobtail1 Haha, no. The U.S. in the next 2 weeks. Started in Illinois yesterday, overnighted in Texas, and flew this morning to Kansas. Tomorrow who knows where.
@16:19 I believe the artwork in the background Is part of the Fire Line Paintings by Tim Storrier. An amazing Australian artist
Yes-great Australian artist. That painting is actually what I remember most fondly about living in Alice Springs about 15 years ago!
Did I forget to see this one? I never miss one of your vids….. oh well I guess I can have another coffee and watch
Noel wonderful vlog lovely to see the Emb120 , brings back happy memories for me flying on Skywest & Comair examples on spotting trips in the US years ago .😃👍
Brilliant video noel thanks so much for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it
Those EMB-120s were a dime a dozen at my hometown airport of Tallahassee Florida. They flew with ASA, Comair, and I think Continental Express back in the 90s
Blimey Charlie? I love learning new phrases. You are brave for doing those flights. I am a "get there as fast as you can".
Noel felt the vibration from the Thrust.
“I have pulled out of Katherine now to Alice” - Noel Phillips 😂
😂😂😂
Love the milk run Noel great video, thanks. Yes I would do it.
The double endentres Noel, cheeky boy
Thanks for flying through the NT! I always love content that includes us here
I love all these quiet airports. So stress free compared to busy airports and the staff are also more personal. Brings back some nice memories of a trip I did in 1996. Darwin to Alice by road, stopped at Katherine a d Tennant creek then flew out of Alice. Great vid noel
It’s wet season up north, lovely to see it green. Dry season totally different.
That’s some trip Noel! Great video.
This is a joy to watch ❤️
Love traveling with you Noel!!!
Love watching ur Aussie adventures.
Enjoy Adelaide, if you get time go visit the library, it's architecture is stunning plus you have a statue of Rabbie burns. There are lovely park walks that all interconnect. Loved it there when I visited
Pulled out of Catherine and moving onto Alice…feeling the vibration…the thrust is incredible 😂😂😂😂
Well done Noel, another star studded show !
Great little plane hops , really enjoyed seeing Ozzie,
Thanking you 😁
Glad you enjoyed it
Great to see you in my home town, Adelaide Noel! I hope you enjoyed your stay
Noel is in his bag with the double entendres 💥
Cool vid! I’m an Aussie and I’ve never done the guts of this great southern land. Thanks for the video!
Great video Noel, remember doing this in the early 2000’s did Darwin to the Alice via Katherine on a bus, loved the Alice and the desert stayed for 3 weeks 😊
Great memories of my trip around Australia. I’ll never forget how small the airport was in Broome and then even smaller in Kununurra. Hope they are on your list. Have fun, Noel. ❤
Love the 1-2 seating, same as on the REX Saab 340 ✈️
I flew the Embraer 110 Bandeirante I will never forget the turbulence inside that plane was crazy !!!!
Great video Noel, reminds me of couple Comair EMB120s I flew is USA many moons ago. Love the super shiny engine! 😃
Hi Noel another great video great to see a Emb-120 also the ZK Agusta was smart
Glad you enjoyed it
Your always very polite and always have a smile on your face.
You never seem to be stressed although I assume some of your travel is stressful
Katherine has a large airfield because it’s an RAAF base …. The civilian airport is on one side of the strip and the airforce on the other. It was a WWII strip which was extended and expanded in the 1980s (I was one of the first to be posted there 😊).
