      Kobe tries to play that it was cause Shaq was lazy and Kobe followers repeat it.
      1. A guy averaging 40 and 20 and all the other numbers he put up in the finals ain’t lazy
      2. If he is lazy like Kobe said, what’s that say about Kobe who is in the gym 15 hours a day and had no chance winning an mvp while Shaq was on the roster

    • @Levi-lr4vi
      @Levi-lr4vi 2 месяца назад

      @@bobbyjohnson9409 I think it really escalated when Shaq got injured in the beginning of the 02-03 season and refused to rehab UNTIL the middle of the season. Quote 'I got hurt on company time, so I rehab on company time'. That's a little immature, especially when your team is fighting for seeding. Now OBVIOUSLY Kobe played a big part in the divorce(snitching to the police) but that's when the problems between them started peaking.

    I still honestly think it was Shaq's fault for not being willing to take backseat to Kobe since his game was declining. Yes Kobe could be tough to deal with but honestly they could've done the Magic-Kareem thing where Kareem dominated the first couple titles, then Magic took over and lead them to more.

    • @scyanks7
      @scyanks7 10 лет назад +48

      Feud started during Kobe's rape trial because Kobe accused Shaq of paying off women so they wouldn't leak stuff about him. Basically Kobe called Shaq a rapist. Kobe is a snitch and has always been bitch made. Do some research, the feud was all Kobe's fault.

    • @itsjustmarcus2242
      @itsjustmarcus2242 10 лет назад +36

      It was Shaq's fault. Kobe is hard to deal with only if u don't work hard. Shaq used to show up to training camp out of shape all the time. Phil Jackson even agrees with Kobe that Shaq is lazy ass fuck. Listen a lot of people don't like Shaq too; Kobe, Phil, Charles Barkley, Pat Riley, even D-Wade all hate him. Yes Pat Riley and D-Wade hate Shaq cause during training camp in 2007, Jason Williams showed up late and Pat Riley kicked him out of practice. Then Shaq, got into a big argument with him and hated the fact that D-Wade didn't stand up for him. I heard D-Wade and Shaq hate each other to this day as well. After that incident, Pat Riley trades him to Phoenix. Know ur facts and stories bro.

Jerry bus called shaq and said that he was starting to age and he didn't want to loose Kobe so he kept Kobe and traded shaq to Miami because they didn't want to pay shaq being the old head for the LAKERS so they kept Kobe. Kobe signed a $136 million dollar 7 year deal over the CLIPPERS.

      I love Kobe, but the narrative he tried to create about what happened from 99-04 is garbage; lakers didn’t win til Phil Jackson showed up and built the triangle offense around Shaq, because Shaq was the better player then, by far; Shaq won 3 straight finals mvps, a league mvp and a scoring title while Kobe won nothing except in every playoffs from 01-04 Kobe attempted more shots than Shaq to the dismay of Phil Jackson; but Shaq was still the lakers leading scorer every year they won rings from 99-02; in 03 playoffs and 04 playoffs kobe increased his fga over shaqs by astronomical amounts and Kobe became the leading scorer, by like 1ppg, but the lakers lost; Kobe said the triangle offense was “holding him back”, he got rape charge, Phil Jackson left, and Kobe didn’t get past the first round for 3 years; Phil returns brings back triangle offense “expert” Derek Fisher to run the triangle and smart euro player gasol, and other rebounders to make up for Kobe’s high amounts of missed shots as Phil and Tex build a new triangle around kobe who ends up with two rings in the triangle offense he claimed was holding him back in 04; The league and Kobe try to push the “Kobe’s chasing jordan” thing, so the narrative about what happened from 03-04 is constantly put out about “shaqs work ethic” hoping you’ll forget and just blindly go with the “5 rings” narrative; Kobe is a top great with bird and magic; but he has 2 finals mvps; he was the best player in a finals 2 times; 2 less than Lebron, and 4 less than jordan;

    Two alphas that are dominant unfortunately sometimes need to separate and do what's best for themselves. Respectfully saying don't get me wrong during the Era that Kobe and Shaq played together they dominated together and accomplish great memories and championship moments for the Lakers . No team at that time could stop them. To me when they went there own pathways was hard to believe but at the end of the day with respect of saying it turned out to be a blessing. Kobe got 2more rings for a total of 5 with the Lakers and Shaq got one more ring with the Miami Heat for a total of 4 rings all together . Kobe retired with The Lakers and Shaq retired with the Celtics.

If they didnt split up they would have like 10 or 11 nba championships by now. noone could stop shaq by himself or kobe by himself. so how do you stop both on the floor? you cant double team 2 diff people so that is impossible. you cant have 4 guys guarding just 2 too many people open. plus shaq dominated inside the paint Kobe dominated outside with jumpers 3s fadeaways. they were the perfect duo ever in NBA history. but hey thats just my opinion so is the 10 NBA championships they could have won.....

Then Kobe would win 2-3 more ring, maybe 3-peated the 2008-2010 finals. And then he could retire as the best Laker, shooting guard and possibly player ever.

      JG32 Shaq averaged 27 pts 11 RBS shooting 63℅ against defensive player of year in Ben wallace in NBA finals.
      Kobe averaged 22 shooting 38℅ from field and an 18% from 3.
      Kobe shot 118 times compared to shaqs 84 times. Kobe shot 34 more times than Shaq in 6 games and Shaq still averaged 5 more points than Kobe.
      A declined Shaq still better than Kobe. Look at lakers next year with Kobe as leader. loosing record while Shaq was leading Heat to title.
      Kobe is just lucky because he played for Lakers where it's easy to get free agents because they want to go to LA

    After seeing other interviews after Kobe retired, I get the feeling the media during this time overdramatized this situation. Kobe sounds well spoken, articulate and mature here. On the other hand, Shaq sounds upset and disappointed. You can see the difference between their two personalities. Kobe's just different. He's more serious and has a vision of where he wants to go and what he wants to achieve. Shaq is more laid back and casual. You can see how their two personalities would clash.
    I can understand why Kobe would not play team ball at that time. Lots of other NBA players in other interviews said he didn't quite respect anyone who didn't commit, work hard or take the game as serious has he did. Shaq does seem immature in this interview. I can see why their relationship strained. Shaq said he left for Miami because he wanted more money than what they were giving him. But if they gave him more money then there would be fewer quality role players. That team was getting old and injury plagued. I think Phil left because he didn't want to coach a rebuilding team. He wanted a contender.
    It's interesting to see how Kobe came to mature after this point, figuring out the balance of the game, and lead his new teams to championships.

Notice no one has come close not because there was better coaching or players back then but because competition, coaching, and players have gotten better year by year. 10 championships back then would roughly be equivalent to 4 championships now (not that anyone can get that estimation 100% accurate) just shows how much sports grow throughout time.
