The Blues and Hawks round one felt like a conference final. That Game 7 is still one of the best game 7s in Blues history. It had it all. Instant classic. This is the best Blues team to NOT win the cup. Still heartbroken the Blues did not win the cup this year. The Blues just ran out of steam by the conference final vs the Sharks.

@TheShadowflare1 Historically, the, Blues', biggest problems were that they kept getting fleeced, while, consistently making the, (diluted), Playoffs, their ruinous mediocrity meant that they were never going to improve through the draft, and, management had a, built-in, excuse to never blow up the stagnant franchise that clearly never could get over the hump.

The Stars win a division title for the first time since 2006 and finish with the #1 seed in the Western Conference for the first time since 2003. Unfortunately, they couldn't take advantage of having home-ice advantage throughout the Western Conference playoffs to get to the SCF at least as they would pull a "no-show" at home in Game 7 against the Blues. This pretty much was the end of Kari Lehtonen as the starting goaltender for the Stars.

San Jose was like Ottawa a decade before. When they had their best teams they choked in the playoffs and when they finally made it to the final round they were past their prime so didn't give a good showing.
