    So I’m nervous about using coconut oil for two reasons-clogging the drain and leaving a gooey film on the tub. Have you found this to be true for yourself?

    • @Soul.7
      @Soul.7 Год назад +1

      I made this bath bomb a few days ago, and OMGoodness. Using 3/4 cup of the heavy coconut oil is a real no no, way too much for body, bath and bathroom drains. I have a big batch now of VERY oily BBs, a greasy bath tub, ruined cleaning sponge and am at a loss at how to make use of this so it is not wasted. I may mix 1tbsp of it in a luxury bath salts - including a starch, some clay, and a milk powder. Many bath bomb recipes use 1-2 tbsps max of a light oil, some even less. Will try much less, and spritzing with witch hazel as its wetness doesn't activate the fizzing. And newer recipes as they develop over time.

      Corn starch is corn flour... (Some people call it by different names, but same product). Yes, you can use corn starch.

    Do you measure the cup for the salt before you ground it up? Or after?

    • @cupidlov3r
      @cupidlov3r 7 лет назад +1

      Also I was wondering to you measure the oil before or after its melt into the liquid state

    • @OurRawBeauty
      @OurRawBeauty  7 лет назад

      Hiya, I grind up the Himalayan salt, but I leave the Epsom salt as it is, you could grind that up to if you want but I don't. So the measurements are all done before I put them into the bowl so depending on how you would like your bath bombs to be either ground up or more grainy that is up to you. So when I have the ingredients how I want them I then do the measuring before placing into the mixing bowl. Hope that helps :)

      Living in the U.K and where I live the natural state of my coconut oil in the cupboards stay at a solid most of the year. So because I need the oil to be runny for the bath both mixture, I melt the oil and then measure into my cup measurement. if I melted to much I just place it back into the jar for no waste. Hope that helps :)

    what can I use instead of epsom salts? I want to make these but I don't have it:(

    • @OurRawBeauty
      @OurRawBeauty  7 лет назад +4

      Hi, Good question! It can be hard to find Epsom salts....There are a couple of dry ingredients that could help and can replace the dry ingredients ratio of the Epsom salts so that bath bomb mixture still works out. Sea salt is an alternative, Sea salt being natural and with many minerals again, it draws out impurities. Also clay so the natural clays you can buy for D.I.Y face masks, there are a few different ones but again they draw out impurities of the skin and body. Magneisum is a main component in Epsom salt and magnesium relaxes muscles and helps remove lactic acid build up in the body and also helps regulate the nerve system, so all things that contributes to aches and pains. So there are many foods with high magnesium but that doesn't help with making these bath bombs! :) I think you can get magnesium suppliments and powders, I guess adding a powdered magnesium would work? The easyiest and less commplicted way I guess would be to use sea salt instead it would draw out impurities from your body. That along side the Himalayan salt would draw out and replenish your body adding many minerals to your system that the himalayan salt provides. Also adding more essential oils could help boost up the muscle aches problem.
      If you find it doesn't work out as well for you then there are things you could do after the bath or before, like essential oils onto the skin ( But not all can be used directly onto the skin without dilution ) massage, heat, and natural foods that could help, things to work in conjunction with a warm bath and a bath bomb.
      I hope that helps you :) ❤︎

    Could i just use lemons instrad of citric acid

    • @OurRawBeauty
      @OurRawBeauty  7 лет назад

      Hiya, good question... Because lemon juice is a liquid and contains citric acid the reaction would start when your mixing the mixture. The reaction happens when a liquid (water) combines the bi carbonate soda with the citric acid together, so that is why we use the dried versions of these 2 when making up the both bomb. With my recipe there is no reaction in the bowl when mixing, but a lot of bath bomb recipes use a little water when mixing. the reaction would be the similar to those.... Hope that helps ✌︎
