Woke up due to pain and found this beautiful version of this song. Very relaxing with lovely views. My old cat enjoys it too because she is purring whilst watching!
This was the first song I learned to sing way back in the early 1950s when I was in school and was a sea scout. We would go camping and someone would bring out a guitar and we would gather round and sing this among other song s like South of the borders. Never fail to bring back a tear thinking of the good old days when the world was so innocent.
🌹Oh, my Dad loved this song and Gene, too. Dad used to bring us out in a green🛶rowboat on the middle of the St. Lawrence🌊River (whilst Navy🛳frigates sailed by) and he taught us songs and I learned this one at🐥3yo. It was my first introduction to french too, I learned the word "adieu". 🌹Merci beaucoup et adieu. 🇨🇦✌🏻🎶♥️(+🇺🇦)✨🌎💫
This is the first song I learned to sing at age 3 or 4 in the early 1960's. On an old 45 RPM record player. On the flip side of that record was "Big Rock Candy Mountain." On another record I had (at first I only had 2 records) was "She'll be Coming Around the Mountain." I don't remember what was on the flip side of that record.

Where did you camp? We're there bears etc?

@@charleschoe7805 I'm not sure which would be worse. A snake in your sleeping back would be scary too

Beautifully done. I'm not an American but we learnt this song while in primary school back in early 60s. Brings back tons of sweet memories.

But those that do not have the will to fight, in this world of STRUGGLE, have no right to prosper.
Wow, I love the "feeling" in the voice! Very unique done. Reminds me of John Anderson vocals!

Huh, learnt some very different lyrics for this one from my Canadian mate. Brings back memory from traversing Canada back in 1970.
As I understand it is a Canadian song
