Ok I'm no audio professional, only a performing classical musician .... I picked up a pair of AKG K371 to replace my Audio Technica M40x. Granted, I haven't listened to the Concertgebouw Orkest with Mahler's 3rd with Bayerdynamic DT 770 Pro, but ... I find nothing lacking in the soundstage of the concert hall in which the orchestra played in Budapest a couple of months ago. They use the standard european division of violins of firsts left and seconds right and you can very easily hear the part division L/R when they're playing with each other. You can distinctly hear te placement of the trombones/Tuba vs trumpets in the back rows. The fingertip playing of the bass drum was wonderful as were the explosions on the same instrument a few miutes later. All-in-all, a wonderful performance by the orchestra and the headphones. Such a shame, no one, literally no one reviews headphones with socalled "classical" (actually late romantic) music in orchestral setting. Obviosly someone at AKG dsoes listen to orchestral music.
Hello musicofnote1, I want to return my ATH M40X because it is very uncomfortable, despite the great sound quality. Do the K371 fit your ears better? After many comparisons, the DT 770 Pro has the sound that most closely matches reality, but the price...
You were more than patient with AKG and good for you for bringing the QC issues out in the open. I have been lucky with my pair and would only cautiously recommend them due to QC. Sound is excellent. I have a pari of DT990 pros and are likely the only headphone I have that wouldn't bother me if it fell off my desk. Others are a lot more fragile.
If there's one headphone brand that will still be around after the apocalypse, it will be Beyerdynamic. Historians will be digging them up in 1000 years alongside Nokia 3310's and marvelling at our ancient technologies
@@WheezyTech Unless your cable breaks with the XXX-series, since you can't swap it easily. It's really sad that they only changed that flaw in the 300 € more expensive 1xxx models.
@@Assimilator702 Then why didn't BeyerDynamic do this, if it's so easy? The price of these newer cans are high enough. Way cheaper headphones have detachable cables. For a professional brand bringing newer models on the market with this pricetag, this is a weird, greedy decision.
@@Wuppie62 The DT series from Beyer was designed before removable cables was common. Beyer Dynamic could easily make a simple revision but for some reason only new models have that feature.
I feel a bit guilty about these, a friend outside the music hobby asked me for recommendations for headphones within a budget headphone enthusiasts might consider low cost but which for him was extravagant. He bought the K371 as a result and was amazed by how good they were until the headband snapped in two. The retailer replaced them, but headbands shouldn't snap. While they're not expensive neither are they that cheap, much cheaper headphones can last for years.
To anyone considering buying the AKG 371 (BT), I can honestly say they are well worth their price tag! Did a lot of research and considerations including this well-presented review before choosing to go for the 371 and was not dissappointed! Yes, the only thing I found was I have to adjust them each time I put them on so they set perfectly on my ears, but you can easily hear when they are settled right for you on your ears, so no big problem at all. Also, I find them very comfortable wearing for a long time and don't find them too tight on my rather big (sweaty head). Great sound, too, but I do not not have that much to compare with in that matter. I am extremely satisfied with the sound quality.
I have a question coz Im interested in getting the BT version of this. does it make sense to still buy it in 2023 as it has a micro usb connection for charging? (I do have the cables for micro usb, but still..) I had an AKG earphone set that came with my samsung phone, it was a brilliant set of earphones and impressed me a lot. I really was keen to get another AKG as the audio quality (and the call quality was crystal clear and rich) on those. Do these bt headphones have mics as well , or are they just for studio sound monitoring? Or should I look at a newer model? I am getting a K371 bt on a bargain, but kinda on the fence regarding the micro usb charging.
@@lidiyav5276 I wouldn't know why that would make you not buy a great headset at an even greater price. So that's up to you. Microphone works like it should.
I bought the k371 right away when the came out, and i had no issues with the build qulity so far...guess i was really lucky with my unit. Also like the sound a lot.
Have had them for more than a year now and other than the earcups getting spoilt no other issue, got myself a pair of brainwavz earpads instead. The sound reproduction is good enough for me too.
That hinge design is awful - a built-in structural weak point. This is exactly the sort of brand degradation I feared would happen when Samsung bought out Harman and closed down AKG in Austria.
@Pantomath First , Samsung closed all of the locations in Austria and moved some employees to still existing branches in Germany or Hungary, but most were let go. It's such a damn shame. The basically killed the company and sold its organs
I'm glad to see a follow up. I don't use mine often enough but they are a unique experience and while they can sound odd at first I end up adjusting and finding them unexpectedly natural sounding. I've had mine for at least 5 months and nothing has gotten worse. The left side adjustment was loose new but holds when in use.
I've had the k371 for 5 months with no build issues so far. The clamp has become very light and is the most comfortable headphone i have that sounds THIS good. Fantastic headphone all around
1. akg k371 2. sennheiser hd 280 pro 3. Beyerdynamic Dt 770 Pro which one you suggest? i want only one out of these. i will be using it on my Desktop, DAC, not a heavy user though Music i listen to, Trance, House, Jazz
I have a K275 and absolutely love the build quality. They are about the same price, though they are the only closed headphone I have. I don't have a reference for the sound since there is very little information about it online.
There is no issue on my K361 build wlse. The problem is it's sound quality. After long term usage (about 5 months), the hollow in the mid range become noticeable when I listen to my 6XX. I end up selling it and now waiting for my new headphone to arrive.
I've had a pair a little over a month. Out of the box I checked them over carefully for all the issues you've highlighted and found all to be good. Just yesterday I noticed that left hand pivot/slider has become very noticeably slack. They'll be going back to the supplier a.s.a.p. but I'm still undecided whether to seek a like for like replacement or look for an alternative. On balance I'm probably going to look again at a Sennheiser. Whilst the 371s are a pleasure to listen to I can't be doing with the constant worry that they'll fail mechanically. Thanks wheezy for all the visa on this topic, just a shame these headphones have some fundamental design flaws.
2nd pair today. They're functional but the headband adjustment is so loose it adjusts by itself. My old K361 in comparison requires actual force to adjust and won't adjust by itself. Sound is also worse than K361. Too boomy
My pair have held up for almost a year and a half. The QC issue is such a massive drawback for what are a genuinely great pair of headphones that punch well above their weight class at the price point they're at. Its borderline absurd how great the sound quality is given the price. If it wasn't for the build/QC issues I unironically believe they would become more standard than the DT 770 and the m50x/m70x.
I had no QC issues with the K371. My issue with it was the sound. They simply don't sound as good as my DT770 Pro 250 Ohm. I sold the AKG just yesterday. The mini-XLR connector is too long and can hit your shoulders. The short cable is very microphonic.
I'm 2 years late I know, but this comment is so funny and people are so different lol. I've heard the exact opposite alot. People often prefer these over 770
I just pulled the trigger on two pairs of the k371. Will definitely update and state my experiences once I receive them. Hope both the pairs turn out fine for now!
Hello wheezy! Just received both the headphones, and they're in pristine conditions. Found no issues in the build and drivers. Coming to the sound quality, I think it'll take some time for my ears to break in and get used to the music. It sounds really good, but my ears aren't really used to this curve yet. (I'm coming from really treble heavy headphones). I'm sure these will grow on me. A good purchase nonetheless!
@@bernardoblanchetramirez6032 Wow it's been 10 months. They're holding up well, although the earpads will wear out by the 10 month mark. I'm gonna replace them with brainwavz ovals
@@WheezyTech Well, my d770's plastic slider parts became lose real quick years ago, and looks like even if you buy replacement parts they loose quickly again. Also recently my right side stopped working so now I have to send them into a shop for repair. And this is a 600 ohm manufaktur version from back then so supposedly they had extra care. They are 10 years old tho. I assume its only the cable and it will be easy and cheap to repair. I cant do it myself unfortunately so I have to go to a shop.
@@sanmarinojr I have those as well. The real Problem is finding decent replacement pads. I tried the Brainwavz Round XL, but those were too large and made them sound very hollow
@@WheezyTech Thanks. I'm surprised you had the patience to put up with something like that, it really is unacceptable that you went through 5 of them and finally got something good, glad it's all sorted anyway. I once saw a Reddit post by a guy who went through 27 ASUS monitors, 27 RMAs until he finally got a good unit, now that guy has patience. If it was me I would have given up after like the 5th and just asked for a refund and gone with a different brand.
@@elementzero7083 Funny you should mention ASUS. My ASUS monitor has been developing clusters of dead pixels for the last four years and will sometimes not connect unless I unplug the power for about ten seconds.
5:42 hinge is good though - perfect for monoaural music work or voice calls where you need to be able to hear your voice. Very few headphones can pivot one earcup out of the way like this.
So I own the BT version and I am pretty happy. The left side of the band was too loose and it bothered me allot. Instead of getting into the game of returning and waiting for a lucky pair I fixed it myself. By using a pipe wrench with a towel to protect the steel part, I applied moderate pressure and the band does not slide loosely anymore. One question though, why does the BT version have 4 pin mini xlr and the regular version does not? Was hoping to use my 3 pin mini xlr cables :( Looking forward to the BT video!
@@shervinsardari That would've made sense but unfortunately all added cables end in TRS. So I could only get the mic to work when connected to Bluetooth.
This is the thing, is it wired for balanced, is it for a mic? If so why are all of the cables TRS? And if it has been wired for balanced, seems like an odd choice, not sure why you would want to run such an efficient monitoring style headphone in balanced. But ok assuming its balanced, it doesn't mention it anywhere in the spec sheet and again, all of the cables have 3.5mm TRS connectors. But most of all, if it is wired for balanced, why this model and not the original? Doesn't make sense.
Mine has a pad whose inner ring is not glued on well and leaves it a tad loose, however I haven't noticed differences in sound between sides even when swapping the pads. Other than that they've been pretty solid, though admittedly with 12 other headphones I don't use them a lot. I'm scared about taking them outdoors though, not sure if it's because I'm scared of them being damaged or because I'm afraid of going through the same odyssey you did to get a good pair if mine are damaged... Edit: so I ended up getting a new pair and sending the old one back, these are fine, pads are the same, folding mechanism is a bit stiffer and sound is largely the same, though they have a bit less subbass, which is better imo because on the old ones it felt a bit too disjointed from the rest of the frequencies at times.
I'm interested to know how other glasses wearers have got on with the K371s. With glasses on the low end is just missing (unless corrected with EQ) whereas without glasses the low end is absolutely brilliant extending way down and rounding out the sound pretty wonderfully. I assume that the problem is that the arms of the glasses mess with the seal between headphone and head and that this is absolutely critical to the performance of these cans (because they're closed back?). Has anyone else found this to be the case? Had anyone found a remedy, other than taking your glasses off? Different East pads maybe? Suggestions please because I'm not sure I'll be keeping these if I can't fix this despite their "glasses off" sound being very much the best I've experienced (at this price and my limited experience). Would I be better off with open back headphones?
Spoiler alert: despite the hype and positive reviews, it sucks. Have fun sending it back to Shenzen Audio in China at a 20 EUR loss. Metallic upper mids. Unusable, unlistenable (not a word). I am quite sure that none of the reviewers who said this is good used them for another minute after the review was done.
@@thelastrhino2581 I had the same issue with the Tin T4. Not sure if my pair was faulty but they were very harsh and metalic sounding. Most EDM and tracks with female vocals were herendous
Tin T4 does have a bit of energy at 5kHz that some people find a bit harsh, its right at the upper limit of acceptability to me so I find it more lively than harsh. There is something going on in the upper mids on the Starfield too but I haven't quite put my finger on what it is yet, I've not had enough time to listen to them critically yet. Certainly though, its a long way from unlistenable, I mean its not a ZSN Pro, that thing is just pure ear pain.
For what it’s worth I just bought these, the sound is fuckin awesome, hear all the details and the bass is good notboosted, and you can eq for when you want to color things. Don’t forget when you listen to things, if something sounds bad, it most likely is the play back settings. Some stuff from iTunes sounds like shit, go listen to the same song from a different source, it may sound amazing.
One thing i noticed about AKG regarding professional use, is that they are mostly built for aesthetics rather than longevity, akgs arent meant to be tossed around or treated roughly like other pro cans, def meant for the stand
is there any sound quality diffferences between the k371 and the k371-bt ? i did read something in this direction and wonder if there is something like this.
I bought the K371 BT and their Touch gestures stopped functioning in less than 4 hrs of listening . Will update on unit 2. Found the mechanism sturdy though in my little experience with my unit.
akg doesn't sell the original pads... strange. In Italy even the not stock replaced models are not available. Are they durable at least today or they crumbled?
After going through all your review videos I decided to order these from Amazon India which are releasing in 3 days from now and on launch offer, I am able to grab these for 130 US. Thanks for putting up such detailed video. Cheers!!
Hi. I really like the style of your videos. They are well presented and I find them informative, substantive, useful, and interesting! Thank you. In this video, however, I found the background music to be distracting. And I prefer the old intro :-) I own the HD 650 and the K371. Best wishes.
Thanks for the feedback, I have been experimenting with adding music for the past few videos, its a bit of a balancing act getting the right music and volume level. I cut down the old intro as I felt it was a bit too long, basically I removed the music and play the video at 60fps so its smoother and quicker. I think it helps the start of the video flow a bit better being quicker, I think its about half as long as it used to be.
@@WheezyTech Since you mentioned that you're using the K371 for video editing: in my experience it helps a lot to NOT use headphones while balancing dialog and background music, but instead use the monitors at moderate levels.
I returned mine after few days, as the bass is noticebly reduced by wearing glasses. I noticed while taking on/off glasses while listening. Glasses on = less bass. Glasses off = more bass (best sound) For me the seal is not good enough.
I got a near launch unit around December 2019, and the slide adjust wouldn't click anymore, and just last month, it got too loose to work reliably, essentially with one side being a very janky slide adjust. I did a warranty replacement, and I got a brand new in box unit with extra accessories. Keep in mind, I received this last week- time will tell if this is a second production run that won't have any issues. I'm excited to not have to worry about slide adjust mechanisms. As the top commenter said, using my HD580 feels much more rugged, I would never do this, but I feel like I could drop it down the stairs no problem. Either way, I think the 580 and the K371 have a more confidence inspiring build than my Aurorus Audio Borealis headband.
Wheezy Reviews I just got a brand new headphone when I sent in just the old headphone. So now I just have duplicate cables and stuff. Should’ve specified but it’s still nice of them.
I think my problem with these were the headphone cables so i think one of them broke the audio quality gets pretty glitched out when i move my head around with that 1 headphone cable i have 3 different sized pairs of the cable so 1 breaking not a big deal but yeah im just wondering how i could fix the 1 broken headphone cable.
Don't keep folding them up, and using them as portable? I got a pair for home use, and they seemed bright and forward or aggressive at first, but settled down after a bit of use and burning in. At the moment, I like them and hope I get many years service from them.
AGK didn't manage to solve the issues as stated in this video 4 years ago. Last year I had two AKG 371 that both broke at the exact same spot after about 6 weeks. After owning several headphones from this brand since I first purchased the K141 some 20 years ago, I now moved on to other manufacturers. Never again AKG.

How about the isolation of external sounds? I have heard that external sounds leak in easier than other closed backs. What isbyour experience in this? Thank you
Really like your reviews. I was wondering, where did you get that Kallax insert for your network gear? I love how well the space is used and I was also looking for a way to organise the Unifi gear in my kallax.
I was wondering if anyone would ever ask that. Its the IKEA Hutten wine rack. You might need to sand down the legs a little bit otherwise its a really tight fit. But its the perfect size for the Unifi switch. Plenty of room for my pfsense box in the middle too.
I've already got the open-backed DT 900 Pro X for mixing/mastering, but I'm looking for something closed-back & cheaper like the K371 or Rode NHT-100 for monitoring vocals as i speak/sing, and also sound samples/field recordings with my Tascam recorder. So I don't need the _best_ quality headphones for that stuff, but I'd still like them to be as neutral & objective as possible for that general price-range. Have you tried the Rode NHT-100 yet?
I just returned my pair after just one day. The sound felt, to my ears, too mid forward and lacking in bass. I realize that is NOT what others have found so I'm thinking the ear pads do not mix with glasses wearers very well. The sound was much better if I pushed the ear cups onto my head but that's unworkable. I was curious about these because of their "Harman Target" sound, but given this experience, I'll stick to my Beyerdynamic DT770Pro as my closed backs.
I'm going to start producing cinematic orchestral music, is the k371 better than athm50x for this purpose and also for listening to classical and piano music?
Really enjoyed your reviews and metal571's of the k371, k361 and dt770. I'm searching for a pair of headphones for mixing music, I have read many reviews and I'm a bit concerned about the dips at 4Khz and 5,5Khz masking sibilance. Do you think they adequate for mixing/have other suggestions?
bro what did u get ?? im having the same problem. during lockdown i need a headphone for my home studio but im not sure about what should i get . Any suggestions?
Nice review. Build quality issues are a bit worrying. Can I ask if these would be a suitable model for purely listening to music please? No monitoring just listening for pleasure. I prefer something that has not been coloured too much.
I wish I could see this review before I buy. I got this unit and Im using it since 1 year. I mostly agree to this review. I was a little bit fan of AKG series. I used their K240 and K702 series for while. Both was ok K702 was impressed me about sound signature but It was very unpleasent in hot climates, my ears were really sweating and its was a little bit heavy. Not comfort as much as K240 series. I bought this one for to use in different conditions, because of versatilty promise. But hell as the guy mentioned this unit is very low in quality. It was too obvious pads was gonna start to peel very fastly. And Its started to peel in three months time. I cant say Im so attracted by the sound. Other AKGs was better. Also my ears starting to suffer with this unit in one hour. Maybe because of the pads your ears touching the inside surface or something and its hurting. Also one of my main reason by this unit is to use in live situations because Im djing sometimes. But oops isolation is really bad. You cant hear anything with this in a noisy enviroement. So in my case versatility also failing. This thing far below my expectations. I was thinking to pay some more and buy and Beyerdynamic when I choose this thing. Later I get a chance to use A BD in a studio. Maan that thing is reall deal. Far far away from this. You re almost like watching the stereo image. A real reference. I should say I just used maybe 30 minutes or something and I was feeling like Im listening a high graded speakers. I regret very much cause of buying this. Probably my last AKG product. I didn use too much models from AKG but maybe only K240s are ok because of the price. That one really soft and light.
@Wheezy Tech, How would these compare in terms of audio, so detail, separation, sounds stage to my Sony WH1000-XM4's. I have never owned passive headphones and am getting a pair of Sennheiser HD 560s for open back usage and wondered if these would serve as my entry point for closed back for my first foray into audiophile style Headphones or the DT770 PRO, again these will be my first pair. If either are not noticably better than the Sony driven passively or powered then I see no point in getting them, would appreciate your advice plz.
I don't think you can compare wireless cans to wired pairs, the sound quality overall would be much more accurate and better on a decent pair of Wired closed headphones. Wireless and Bluetooth tech just has not caught up from what I have read, its also the main reason why I avoid wireless headphones like xm3/4 or bose qc35+ etc
@@mrpurpleman9698 As I found out, I started with a Phillips SHP 9600 as my first open back then the Sennheiser/Drop 6xx and now looking at the Hifiman Sundara or the Harmonicdyan Zeus which I will try back to back. Great video. Love these headphones. The only issue I have with my pair is that the height adjustment seems to be loose and it sometimes adjusts a notch down by itself while on my head. Has anyone else experienced this?
I bought an amazon return unit (discounted) that had this issue from day one. A few months later I finally had the courage to try to repair it. I lifted the inner rubber pad and was relieved to find a Philips screw under there. Tightened it a bit, checked the hinge and tightened it a tiny bit more until I was happy with the resistance. It works fine now. It's good to know that I could tighten it every day if I had to :-) hasn't become loose again yet
I think long term most of us will have to get under that rubber cover and tighten the screw eventually. The only reason I didn't do that with the originals were because they were brand new. Is that pad glued on or does it clip into place?
@@kantenschneider I ended up trying to tighten the screw you mentioned, and it would not tighten any more. Although loose, maybe they are intended to be that way? Maybe mine just are not as loose as some.
Mine had to be replaced once however after 8 months of using with a cable in one spot and never having been removed from their spot the hinge near where it says L and R has come off on one side. Such poor design
My hinges were too loose from the beginning.. I always lose my adjustment when I take them out of my head. Any way to stiffen that without having to return it?
do they klick and fall down when handling or shaking the headphones? My left hinge did that. I removed the inner rubber pad. The screw under there was quite loose. I tightened it carefully twice (you have to check the resistance of the klicks. don't overdo it). For me it helped but I'm not shure if it's the same problem with yours and how long it lasts.
@@kantenschneider Dude, how did you manage to open the inner rubber pad and which rubber pad? I'm confused. My unit is perfectly fine, sounds great, and no cosmetic issues but the left hinge became a bit lose, hence the left adjuster is also loose and improper. Please guide me so that I can tighten the screw. I can remove that rubber pad permanently too.
@Arya Sengupta Look at the outer symbol with the 3 heart shaped objects that meet in the middle. On the opposite side (on the inside) there is a smaller round rubber cap with no symbol that is surrounded by a grey ring. Insert a thin tool (or fingernail) right between the black round rubber piece and the gray ring that surrounds it and pry out the rubber. It will take a bit of trial and error to find the right tightness of the screw. Good luck!
I just got these last week. Can someone tell me if I'm nuts, cause my pair sound great overall, but way too flat for my tastes. The bass is weak imo, and I know that's at least partly because I do like a lot of bass. My previous pair were a rather cheap pair of EKG E900 Pro gaming headphones which were the most bass-heavy headphones I've ever had. It was a bit more than they could handle, but I did enjoy it more often than not especially when listening to hip hop/rap. I've tried oratory1990's EqualizerAPO/Peace preset, and it's a lil better but not really. He mentions that the third band/105hz is where I can adjust for bass and increasing it from 5.5 to 8.2 helps but it's still...idk, eh? This bothers me the most because I've seen several people talk about how bass heavy they can be and I'm just not seeing that. Any ideas?
I'm looking for a lightweight on ear headphone. I have the old AKG K450 which I've greatly enjoyed until recently when they started sounding screechy. I have my eye on this 371 or the wired version of the Beyerdynamic Aventho, can't make mind up but still looking.
Please make a video on Yamaha hph mt 5. You mentioned in the the video that you would prefer open backs for music. Which one would you recommend for music and movies?
Hello will these work used on the headphones monitor output of a Zoom livetrak l-8 mixer? I heard in a review that it does not work with mini 3 pin xrl connectors headphones and in fact my akg240 mkII do not work, yet i don't really know why they technically don't. Is there any adapter that could be used that won't alter the sound quality?
Could you recommend an over ear headphone for use with mainly android phone with occasional use with a Yamaha stereo amp ? Im about to return a pair of Philips SHP 9600 and want a closed back replacement. Im disappointed with the sound. My short list is K361/371 , DT770 Pro (32 ohm? ) . Also maybe Sennheiser HD569. Thanks
For that use K361/371 are ideal, great sound and portable. I'd avoid the Sennheiser, those closed backs don't sound as good as a Sennheiser should. DT770 is your comfort and durability pick if that's more important to you.
I've had two pair's of BayerDynamic DT 770 pro's break in the same exact spot. the right side where the slide adjustor is for the right ear cup where it says "made in germany". i'll never buy bayer dynamic again. i love my audio-technica ath m50x's way more than any bayer dynamic i've had.
Hi, are they still holding up? Im looking to buy closed back headphones for music listening at around 100 euro. Is this the best option for this price ? tnx
Great video mate. How would describe the bass on these headphones. I pretend to but them and use them for casual/competitive gaming, listening to music, a bit of everthing i would say. For example in gamer ifa explosion would happen or in bass heavy musicm will i feel a puchy bass with these headphones or not. Not looking for anything extreme, i just want to feel the bass and feel imersed in my games/music etc. Thank you.
I am no expert at audio but judging by price, the k371 competes with the M50X Audio Technica, which is supposed to be thrice the cost of the M20X. So i'm guessing the k371s are way better.
@@zerotactix5739 after seeing this video,I feel like k371 is not sturdy enough, cause in the video..its like the guy replaces 3..4 ..times..so I'm a bit worried about selecting the k371.If you assure me that its sturdy enough .I'll buy that😁
@@yzeemusic7963 I dont even have these headphones lol. From what I hear there are some defective pieces. If you're worried so much then just get something else.
For studio use, the DT 770's are still pretty decent. Good detail, comfort, and build. But for casual music listening, I prefer the K361 for its less piercing treble and less bloated bass compared to the 80 ohm DT 770. The only problem with the K361, for me, are the pads and how they make the sound inconsistent every time you put the headphones on. The Beyers are a little better in that regard, especially if you wear glasses. Overall, they both sound good, so it mostly depends on what you'll use them for. For studio/at-home use (if you can stand the treble), the DT 770's; for casual/on-the-go use, the K361's.
thanks for sharing. 4 returned units = AKG Public Relations disaster. I surely wouldn't buy their product after watching less than 3mins of your video. Hello Sennheiser...
WTH mate, 4 faulty device from this kind of brand. There are many less-known alternatives for this class headphones and they're almost half priced. I only choosing these brands for quality-control and usage lifetime. But they cant even deal with this. If I was in Europe or USA I would buy alternatives. Sadly In my country most unknown brands are not exported. I dont believe AKG's sound signature something that much valuable. I used AKG702 more than 2 years. I wouldnt say that I impressed much when it comes to budget. Maybe that level flatness is too important for high-level industry production. But I dont think most viewers in here are not inside that level of production line. Now I'll probably buy a K361 for just design and portability.
I don't understand these companies. They ask pretty penny but produce these type of garbage and expect customers to accept and then just move on? Fucking ridiculous! Beyerdynamic has very good build quality but it still has some weak points (the plastic parts which hold the ear cups break over time), the clamp never goes away and any company which makes round shaped ear cups/ ear pads is plain dumb. I have not experience more pain than I did with the 770s. But still compared to this AKG, it seems infinitely better in terms of durability. Sennheiser is the only company I have observed not making any round shaped earcups, maybe they have more common sense than these other lots, who knows. Wish there was a good closed back Senn. People who look for durability should always stay away from products which have many hinges, rotating/swivelling earcup design, foldable and all that jazz. Just make plain basic headphones which work ffs. Not everyone cares for portability, those who do that's their problem and they will choose what suits them. For us, who value our money, please stop making garbage like this, AKG. And also Beyer, start making headphones with oval earcups, or at least oval earpads.
The only regret I have is that I did NOT get the BT version for added flexibility.
Hello musicofnote1, I want to return my ATH M40X because it is very uncomfortable, despite the great sound quality.
Do the K371 fit your ears better? After many comparisons, the DT 770 Pro has the sound that most closely matches reality, but the price...

It is great that you do these long term reviews. Thanks man!

Then why didn't BeyerDynamic do this, if it's so easy? The price of these newer cans are high enough. Way cheaper headphones have detachable cables. For a professional brand bringing newer models on the market with this pricetag, this is a weird, greedy decision.
@@Wuppie62 The DT series from Beyer was designed before removable cables was common. Beyer Dynamic could easily make a simple revision but for some reason only new models have that feature.
I just got the k371’s yesterday and the sound is excellent! Nice warm natural sounds.

What about the loudness? And trouble?

I've had them for a year and they're solid, still intact, sound great and they've performed brilliantly. I guess I'm lucky...
Have had them for more than a year now and other than the earcups getting spoilt no other issue, got myself a pair of brainwavz earpads instead. The sound reproduction is good enough for me too.

thank you so much for the " REAL REVIEW".... been looking for a cheap but not low quality for my home studio....

Got my 1st pair of k371 today and right side dead out of box... I've had K361 since launch with no issues
Yeah I noticed the microphonics quite a lot with these too, it can be quite annoying at times

Was hoping to use my 3 pin mini xlr cables :(
Looking forward to the BT video!
That 4 pin XLR... Very good question indeed, I was wondering that too.

@@shervinsardari That would've made sense but unfortunately all added cables end in TRS. So I could only get the mic to work when connected to Bluetooth.
@@lemao7688 Strange...
I see Starfield arrived. Looking forward to your review.
I'm liking them so far for sure
Please review the Moondrop Starfield.

Spoiler alert: despite the hype and positive reviews, it sucks. Have fun sending it back to Shenzen Audio in China at a 20 EUR loss. Metallic upper mids. Unusable, unlistenable (not a word).

I don't think you can compare wireless cans to wired pairs, the sound quality overall would be much more accurate and better on a decent pair of Wired closed headphones.
It's good to know that I could tighten it every day if I had to :-) hasn't become loose again yet
kantenschneider Wow, I will have definitely check that out. Thank you
I think long term most of us will have to get under that rubber cover and tighten the screw eventually. The only reason I didn't do that with the originals were because they were brand new. Is that pad glued on or does it clip into place?
@@WheezyTech the rubber is held by a white double sided tape (white, looks like paper). it was still sticky so I could reinsert the rubber cap.
Good luck!
@@kantenschneider Thanks!! I'm trying it today. Can you connect to me over mail or something so that I can share pictures?
@@kantenschneider Also, How did you managed to insert a screw driver? It is interfering with the ear cups.
Do these sound better than Hd650? I honestly prefer my little Denon speaker over those bassless claustrophobic things lmao
You should review the DT880, and possibly compare it against the HE4XX.
I will be doing an 880 video soon hopefully. I have a fair bit in my review queue atm but I do want to do that one sooner rather than later.
nice work space
Any ideas?
flat = accurate. Accurate = realistic,
I'm looking for a lightweight on ear headphone.
@@WheezyTech thanks for your reply. I listen to a lot of radio dramas, would you still choose the AKGs over the DT770s ? Thanks again
@@WheezyTech I now have the K371s and really like them, cant find anything i dont like about them. Thanks for the advice and helping me decide.
Can these be used for casual listening? I've never wrapped my head around "professional" headphones.
Yeah they have a good tuning for casual use for sure
Hi Wheezy , how do i check if the right and left calibration is correct after buying them?
Hopefully you just used your ears.
I'll stick with KNS8400
Hi, are they still holding up? Im looking to buy closed back headphones for music listening at around 100 euro. Is this the best option for this price ? tnx
The K361 has better tuning.
Thank you.
What do you think is better?? audio technica m20x or akg k371?
I'd say K371
I am no expert at audio but judging by price, the k371 competes with the M50X Audio Technica, which is supposed to be thrice the cost of the M20X. So i'm guessing the k371s are way better.
@@zerotactix5739 after seeing this video,I feel like k371 is not sturdy enough, cause in the video..its like the guy replaces 3..4 ..times..so I'm a bit worried about selecting the k371.If you assure me that its sturdy enough .I'll buy that😁
@@zerotactix5739 and thanks for the reply ..you are amazing❤
@@yzeemusic7963 I dont even have these headphones lol. From what I hear there are some defective pieces. If you're worried so much then just get something else.
Great video! Subbed on the spot.
This or DT770?
Akg 371 best Or waste tell me 🙆🤙⏳ now there r waithing for answer for people 🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪
thanks for sharing. 4 returned units = AKG Public Relations disaster. I surely wouldn't buy their product after watching less than 3mins of your video. Hello Sennheiser...
oneplus case made me immediately trust you
Let's face it, AKG is no more. All Vienna hq people left for founding Austrian Audio.
Austrian Audio's new headphones are an oddball. Impeccable build quality, finish etc., but they tuned it really weirdly.
@@TerribleUsernameAmirite Everybody should trust their own ears only. And compare, blind test as much cans as possible. Next on my list HEDD.
I wanted these to be good so bad... They definitely are not "monitors".
AKG is known for Bad quality products ...Tiesto agrees :)
Akg is Hi-fi & lo-q :-/
Bad headphones. Go for ATH m50x or DT 770 Pro.
......if you like unnaturally boosted treble.
really obscure picks, never heard of them
