Nice one! Tried it two times already, for the first time in october last year shortly when it was first launched and came to the same conclusion! I've documented my results detailed to our Google rep but no help from them.
John’s first point about the disconnect between cold traffic and new customers is definitely worth pointing out as a heads up strategist. Still, the point of NCA is for google to ultimately bid more or exclusively on customers who have not converted yet regardless of the Omni channel origins. However, his second point about googles technical ability actually identify who’s new or returning makes the whole thing obsolete 😅 Perhaps the happy medium is just using bid higher on new customers? Personally, I feel like the whole NCA feature is just a cute way to encourage advertisers they are doing something impactful more so than it actually being a legitimate targeting tool.
Also curious your thoughts on this 3-campaign strategy idea I've seen suggested. Weakness might be that PMax would be better at the later touchpoints to close sales, rather than being confined to the top-of-funnel first-touches? PMax - Non-branded | (Excludes Brand names) ↓ Standard Shopping - Non-branded (Low manual bids, High Priority) | (Excludes Brand names) | Shared Budget with other Standard Shopping ↓ Standard Shopping - Branded (High manual bids, Medium Priority) | No exclusions | Shared Budget with other Standard Shopping
This seems like a pretty legit/simple strategy that could work. Although I don't think the weakness you flagged is necessarily a weakness... Assuming the PMax portion of this is fully decked out with assets?
If you were to take some of your videos and put them in a paid class type format. Which videos would they be? With the intention of teaching a summary of google ads, getting started to minimizing CAC and really using it in a profitable way.
With new updates now there are 3 options, tehcnically first options is to click everything off so google bids equally on new and existing, option 2) is new customers only, which you do not recommend, option 3) is Big higher on new customer while targeting existing . our of this 3 new options which one would you use, can you make an updated video ?

You mention “new customers only,” but what about “bidding MORE for new customers?”

Thanks for the great question! We've passed this along to our strategy team, and keep an eye out for new content!
Superb thanks
Hello King,
Did you tryout the new future on Search ads! (“Bid higher for new customers” or “Bid only for new customers”) ?
18-19-20, 18-19-20 Got it 🤣
