      Have you ever done anything about moving on and healing after a traumatically hostile workplace? I am a magnet for bad workplaces and after the last few I had to just stay home and heal for a while. (Shoutout to my husband for supporting me in that). I'm honestly afraid to go back to work at this point though. Logically I know everyone isn't going to be that way, but it's still anxiety inducing. Also on that note, what are some things to look for to identify toxic workplaces and poor management BEFORE accepting the job?

    I am a hiring manager, and this is so true! Every interview I enter, I just wish for the person to be THAT person which I am just going to hire.
    Honestly, conducting interviews is absolutely no fun (people are cool, but the way it eats your time is not). So nobody wants to not hire you if you were invited!
    And remember, it‘s not just us choosing you. You are also choosing.

      Thank you for your comment it helped me to always remember that a rejection afterwards isn't ment personal but maybe someone else just fits this position better. Unfortunately I tend to take it a little bit personal and feel like the biggest failer ever. 😅

    Interviews are also expensive for a company to do, as often the hiring manager isn't doing their normal responsibilities for that day. So they wouldn't waste money interviewing you if they didn't think you'd be right for the job

    You make such a good job at explaining things to even someone like me in High school. You are truly inspiring and I hope you know that. I'm young but I still want to begin making a living for myself and help my family out. You make economics and other various topics so easy to understand and process, even for someone on my level of expertise (which is basically zero). Thank you for everything, Erin!! 🙏

    Thank you. This changed my mindset so much. I get so nervous that my mind goes all over the place and my mouth splutters out gibberish. I know I'm a great worker. I know I'm dedicated and quick thinking. I know my work ethic. I get so worked up in my own head, that I can't convince them of that.
    I have two interviews this week. Hopefully they'll go well and I'll get an offer at at least one of them.

    Interviews are actually fine for me, I've only had one interview in my life where I didn't get hired. It's just getting TO the interview. I swear I sent out like 50 applications on indeed the last time I need to look for a job. I could easily have talked my way into a job if any of them had interviewed me.

    As an interviewer I can confirm this is accurate. Don't forget to do your research on the company and pay attention to the role spec they advertise. This tells you exactly what they are looking for. Make sure you have examples of things you've done that relate to things on the job advert to show you have transferable skills.

    Sometimes they interview everyone who applies, are just seeing who's out there and waste your time. (Typo edit.)

    • @jh2471
      @jh2471 Год назад +3

      And sometimes they have some computer system weeding out people who could do a really good job… but because buzz words aren’t in their CV air resume, they don’t get the opportunity and the company loses out.
      So don’t get discouraged if you don’t get an interview. A lot of the time, the people sorting out resumes don’t actually know shit about the position

    My country has a scheme that an employer have to interview reasonably qualified candidates if they’re disabled so it sucks wondering whether those employers actually like you or just don’t want to loose the badge they get with that scheme because some of them make it pretty obvious they don’t want you and I’ve heard some complain they have to make up lies to not hire the person because the only thing the recruiter didn’t like was a trait associated with the disability so they’re no allowed to say that.

    I worked for a company that interviewed every single applicant. There didn't need to be a position. They had such high turnover that they just kept a list of people they'd hire when someone inevitably walked out. They didn't do any prescreening. The interview was the prescreening.

    I feel like they always see the disabilities rather than my personality and actual skills. I cant manage to get a job due to this. Its not deliberate but, i feel like they cannot see past my disability
