hi, guy who made the long punirunes comment again! i wanted to clarify that the squishy button is not, in fact filled with air, thinking about it more, i think the right word would really be that it can “deform,” kind of like memory foam flattening after a bunch of pressure. (it’s not memory foam, either, im not quite sure what it is, but i wont spoil any surprises.) it takes a lot of pressure for an extended period of time, so as long as you’re not trying to, say, dig your finger into the button, you should probably be good. looking forward to reviews for all of these, both the summiko friend and bitzee interested me a lot when they first came out, but i never ended up buying either of them. curious to get a second opinion.
also, for additional suspense, don’t put your finger in the punirunes until the egg inside hatches, it’s what i did when i got mine back in 2023 and it made the whole experience so much more enjoyable… and nerve wracking 😂
there’s no real reason to do it other than realism, i suppose, but the added suspense leading up to petting the thing is an experience in and of itself

So the Sumikko Friend one sort of has a doll mode, where you carry it around as a creature and play with it. That's neat.

If Spin master’s global release of Punirunes works out maybe they’ll do the same with Sumikko. There’s always the option of getting the Japanese version. The lady who’s produced the English version of the instructions in PDF form has done a fantastic job - I’m sure they’ll make it usable.
