Does anyone else feel refreshed to hear a song about a character who has gone through a difficult situation, but instead of moping around and crying (like a lot of films, series, anime... you name it, they all do it eventually) the character ACTUALLY took this to heart and decided to improve, overcome their weaknesses and come back stronger than before? Right now, this is personal for her, and whoever stands in her way better pick a god and pray... Because she's armed and ready for action. Dunno, just feel like we don't see enough characters like these in media nowadays, and instead we get crying snoozefests until something happens.

However what I meant was that they all managed to reignite their fire and find a reason to fight again (Volume 5 was pretty much this). We don't know how much time passed, but I was more talking about characters going through these events and supposedly "recovering" they still aren't fully back up on their feet and they make stupid mistakes (when Yang passes up the opportunity to beat Mercury's shit-eating grin and instead opts to go for the relic I jumped for joy). This is character development, not having them become some edgy shadow of their former selves.
Like I TRIED so hard and compromised my comfortability to try and make it work. Even after everything I've heard about him, I still even now have a glimmer of hope for us. But I have to end this. It hasn't made me feel good in a LONG time. I just trusted too much.
The moral of this story is; "ADAM GET YOUR ASS OVER HERE I WILL BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF YOU AND MAKE YOU MY BITCH! NOW GO GET ME MY GODDAMNED STRAWBERRY SUNRISE!"
Man I can't wait for Volume 5 but the main reason is to see our badass fireball kick ass again... like she's suppose to. Seeing her with her confidence back at the end of volume 4 made me so damn happy.
Thing is, Adam's Sembelence seems to be based on blocking hits with his SWORD, and using that energy. (Look how Blake took his sword from him.) I'm willing to bet he's like Ruby, useless in a fight without Wilt

Yang b stubborn... Not stupid.... Important distinction there :D But I think the point of the song is less that she's pissed at Adam and more that she's not letting him get to her. When they meet again, she won't have flashbacks and nightmares about the last time. It's just going to be her new fist and his face getting to know each other for a short period of time. Anger has always been her forte really. It triggers her semblance and also helped her get over her PTSD. When she had the flashbacks and panic attacks, she got pissed at them instead of letting them control her. She still had nightmares but she learned to face them. It's what I love about her, she controls her rage and uses it to her advantage instead of being dominated by it.
I honestly cant wait to see when/if Yang gets payback on Adam, but I wont lie I'd also burst out laughing if just like the first time they fought she charges at him with this song playing only to get her other arm cut off
Pierre Anglade Well, we got a girl who deals twice the damage she receives and someone who has a massively powerful slash that usually instantly settles things. Either she takes the hit (maybe indeed losing her arm) but dealing Adam twice the damage back, probably sending him to the moon or something, or she learnt from her dad and fakes the head-on approach of the first encounter, preparing to dodge past his slash and then punishing him at ahort range, kind of like Blake did at the end of Vol5 but a lot more... Yang-y.

Not sure if anyone made this theory yet, but I have one for this song. When she says "I'm racing to her side, there's nothing that I won't do for her", what if she's not talking about Blake, but about Ruby? Specifically, the young Ruby that she brought with her in the small pull-cart? The one that she failed to protect, but was instead saved by Qrow's timely interference. What if, then, "my mind repeats the scene, I can't forget it and it's torture" is not only talking about how loosing her arm traumatized her, but is also about how her inability to protect Blake brought back her pain from not being able to protect her sister? She's not just traumatized because she lost her arm and saw Blake get stabbed. She's traumatized because even with all the effort she's put into training herself, with all the effort she put into getting in Beacon, she couldn't do the one thing for her dearest teammate that she failed to do so many years ago - the one reason she decided to be a Huntress in the first place. And with her stump being a constant reminder of that, her self-esteem keeps dropping and dropping. And yet with Taiyang knocking sense back into her noggin, she was able to gain the resolve to move past that trauma (for the most part) and actually function as a human being again. Weiss never went through that. Ruby only recently went through that with Pyrrha and Penny, and she still hasn't really recovered; she's lost a lot of that spark she used to have before the FoB. Blake's the only one to have gone through similar problems (likely even more), but she's also notorious in the team for running away from her problems. Yang...this girl's taken this head-on and went through hell, and she was able to bounce back. This girl's tough as balls.

She's talking specifically about the tragedy of losing her arm. Her PTSD stems from that night, not from what happened years ago with Ruby.
Sadly you can't really get past trauma. It's always there but you learn to deal with it, and *that's* what Yang is in the process of doing. It never stops when it comes to trauma, there will always be reminders and memories, but you learn to cope with them so it's not as bad. Given by Yang's rand seizing up after a fight I'm not so sure she's learned to cope with it all perfectly just yet. Basically you never really "recover" from trauma, but you're always in the process of recovery? Also: I mean yeah Weiss didn't go through getting a limb severed, but she did have to deal with a controlling and verbally/physically abusive parent which left its own scars on her and I wouldn't be too surprised if we started seeing more things about her issues too.

Questions about any PTSD will be answered as the series goes along and if they ever touch on it again. As far as if Korra handled it better, I don’t think that’s really a fair question because both cases were very different. Korra was basically tortured, like chained up in a cave and tormented by crazy people. She had her body broken down and her mind fucked with and she dealt with a lot more trauma than Yang did. Honestly, I think Miles and Kerry would be the first people to tell you that they’re not as talented as writers as the guys who wrote Avatar/Korra. They’re both still in their mid-20s and learning as they go and when they took this show on I doubt they expected it to reach the heights it has. For me, with RWBY and what Yang’s gone through, I’m just glad it exists you know? I’m glad they went there and are taking these characters to these kinds of places. Like let’s be real, when the trailers came out and even the first two seasons, I don’t think anybody expected RWBY to go to the places it has. So I think it’s good that they’re taking these chances. Writing about disability and writing about abusive families/abusive relationships and making characters that could have easily been cliched/over the top heroes, and grounding them with these kinds of things that make them relatable. Is it executed perfectly all the time? Nope - but I appreciate the effort and the intent and I respect the work and care that I know goes into the writing of the show. My biggest thing with the writing in RWBY is that too many people are trying to dictate the story instead of just letting the story be told to them. Just my opinion though and how I approach the show every episode/volume :) My thoughts exactly.
TheEman590 I think Yang's ptsd was handled as well as it could in a closed off environment, since she's now going back out in the world it will obviously have a greater impact than it did while she just just chilling at home especially since the people of Mistral haven't forgotten about what she did to mercury so she could get persecuted because of that and someone could do something to trigger her ptsd

I’d say the same thing for any of my friends too. BlackSun and other shippers can enjoy this song without worrying about there ship. I’m personally a Bumblebee shipper, but I understand that this verse isn’t really romantic at all, and it’s just a sign of s strong friendship.

Pierre Anglade Well, we got a girl who deals twice the damage she receives and someone who has a massively powerful slash that usually instantly settles things. Either she takes the hit (maybe indeed losing her arm) but dealing Adam twice the damage back, probably sending him to the moon or something, or she learnt from her dad and fakes the head-on approach of the first encounter, preparing to dodge past his slash and then punishing him at ahort range, kind of like Blake did at the end of Vol5 but a lot more... Yang-y.

Not sure if anyone made this theory yet, but I have one for this song.
When she says "I'm racing to her side, there's nothing that I won't do for her", what if she's not talking about Blake, but about Ruby? Specifically, the young Ruby that she brought with her in the small pull-cart? The one that she failed to protect, but was instead saved by Qrow's timely interference. What if, then, "my mind repeats the scene, I can't forget it and it's torture" is not only talking about how loosing her arm traumatized her, but is also about how her inability to protect Blake brought back her pain from not being able to protect her sister?
She's not just traumatized because she lost her arm and saw Blake get stabbed. She's traumatized because even with all the effort she's put into training herself, with all the effort she put into getting in Beacon, she couldn't do the one thing for her dearest teammate that she failed to do so many years ago - the one reason she decided to be a Huntress in the first place. And with her stump being a constant reminder of that, her self-esteem keeps dropping and dropping. And yet with Taiyang knocking sense back into her noggin, she was able to gain the resolve to move past that trauma (for the most part) and actually function as a human being again.
Weiss never went through that. Ruby only recently went through that with Pyrrha and Penny, and she still hasn't really recovered; she's lost a lot of that spark she used to have before the FoB. Blake's the only one to have gone through similar problems (likely even more), but she's also notorious in the team for running away from her problems. Yang...this girl's taken this head-on and went through hell, and she was able to bounce back. This girl's tough as balls.

She's talking specifically about the tragedy of losing her arm. Her PTSD stems from that night, not from what happened years ago with Ruby.
Sadly you can't really get past trauma. It's always there but you learn to deal with it, and *that's* what Yang is in the process of doing. It never stops when it comes to trauma, there will always be reminders and memories, but you learn to cope with them so it's not as bad. Given by Yang's rand seizing up after a fight I'm not so sure she's learned to cope with it all perfectly just yet. Basically you never really "recover" from trauma, but you're always in the process of recovery?
Also: I mean yeah Weiss didn't go through getting a limb severed, but she did have to deal with a controlling and verbally/physically abusive parent which left its own scars on her and I wouldn't be too surprised if we started seeing more things about her issues too.
Of course she's talking about Ruby. Yang isn't ready to look for Blake yet, she's still upset that she left without telling her anything. People are so perverted they take literally anything and turn it into a gay joke.

do you think RWBY handles Yang's PTSD well? also, do you think Legend of Korra did it better or RWBY?
I think RWBY handles Yang’s disability really well. Questions about any PTSD will be answered as the series goes along and if they ever touch on it again.
As far as if Korra handled it better, I don’t think that’s really a fair question because both cases were very different. Korra was basically tortured, like chained up in a cave and tormented by crazy people. She had her body broken down and her mind fucked with and she dealt with a lot more trauma than Yang did.
Honestly, I think Miles and Kerry would be the first people to tell you that they’re not as talented as writers as the guys who wrote Avatar/Korra. They’re both still in their mid-20s and learning as they go and when they took this show on I doubt they expected it to reach the heights it has.
For me, with RWBY and what Yang’s gone through, I’m just glad it exists you know? I’m glad they went there and are taking these characters to these kinds of places.
Like let’s be real, when the trailers came out and even the first two seasons, I don’t think anybody expected RWBY to go to the places it has. So I think it’s good that they’re taking these chances. Writing about disability and writing about abusive families/abusive relationships and making characters that could have easily been cliched/over the top heroes, and grounding them with these kinds of things that make them relatable.
Is it executed perfectly all the time? Nope - but I appreciate the effort and the intent and I respect the work and care that I know goes into the writing of the show.
My biggest thing with the writing in RWBY is that too many people are trying to dictate the story instead of just letting the story be told to them.
Just my opinion though and how I approach the show every episode/volume :)

I know that there’s a whole war going on about the verse “I’m racing to her side, there’s nothing I won’t do for her” The argument is if it’s Yang or Ruby. looking back to season 4, Yang was more focused or affected by Blake. Also remember that the verse after involves Adam and the scene of her arm. Ruby wasn’t there, so it kinda has to be Blake. Though, we don’t have to take it in a romantic way. I’d say the same thing for any of my friends too. BlackSun and other shippers can enjoy this song without worrying about there ship. I’m personally a Bumblebee shipper, but I understand that this verse isn’t really romantic at all, and it’s just a sign of s strong friendship.
