  • Romantic comedy following the fortunes of old friends Sunny (Inday Ba) and Tom (Philip Glenister) who are about to get married -- to other people -- when they meet again at a wedding fair. Sunny teaches boisterous four-year-olds; Tom watches old Hollywood films for a living; Sunny is West Indian; and Tom is white and comes from Wandsworth. With their respective weddings fast approaching they have to face the fact that they're still in love with each other.

Another one of these movies, who only care about the "eternal LOVE" between two, to hell with their spouses/fiancés, who spent many years with them trying to build a life TOGETHER.
If the "great feelings" a.k.a. lust are there, nothing can stop them at cheating, lying, finally kicking out their fiancés, and the writers of this film didn't even bother to find some better sentences than "I am sorry, it is not your fault, you are a great person - but now get lost, looser".
0:52: How easy SHE kicks her fiancé out: "Look honey, it's better to split. It's not gonna work" . No word about her fucking another guy, no word about her cheating, lying. And all the hollow phrases, and there is the lie: "It has nothing to do with you, it's me" ==> NO, it's not you, it's this other guy, you liar.
And even after he asks "you found another guy", she lies more, by not answering, but saying instead such sentences which are an insult to anybody who is just being kicked out of their relationship: she says: "you are really a nice guy"...She only admits her fucking with Tom after he demands the truth.
1:11: Tom is even worse, he avoids talking to his fiancé until they accidentally bump into Sunny.
Tom says almost nothing, only admits, after her requesting answers, that he already slept with Sunny three times.
She yells "This is real life, Tom, if you screw up, it is for real. I spent the last two years trying to build a FUTURE for BOTH of us, and now what? We can still be friends, like in the movies? Fuck you, Tom", and storms out.
1:15 Later, she looks at her, dressed in her wedding gown and tells Tom, who comes watching her, "I just want to lokk at it one more time before it goes back to the store....". Again, Tom just stands there, staring sheepishly.
1:16 Tom adds more bad behavior: He even meets Sunnies fiancé and has a drink with him. Tom asks him to find Sunny. Her fiancé finds the right words for Tom: "as I see it, you stole my woman, you are a bastard, and an asshole, asking ME how to find her".
Tom seems to look for trouble, or he is really that stupid. His answer: "I am glad we had a chance to talk".
===> what is wrong with this Tom? Doesn't he LISTEN? Or is he autistic, that what he says is so off (if he bothers to say something at all)????
The end scene is ridiculous. Almost like in nowadays "Death in Paradise" series. Sunny is somewhere at a southern beach, in a typical local dress, Tom shows up there in his black business suite.

I ADORE her completely. I feel a huge rush of joy and sadness watching her. She is so talented, bright and gorgeous. For a young mixed girl, it was important to see people like me reflected on screen. It's awful to think that she was taken from us so early, and in such a painful way. She is a brave woman, God Bless her and her mom. They made a documentary about her illness, just the two of them. Her mom finished it after her death, and it received incredible acclaim. Mike Leigh (Secrets and Lies) asked for a copy immediately after it got a standing ovation when it was previewed at BAFTA.

Awesome - features the great Lennie James as well. One of those actors most people will recognise but won't know him just by name. It's a shame as he's superb. Thnx for uploading.

I kept passing this up, but it kept coming around... For months!!! I'm so glad I watched it. Thanks for sharing! Have a few questions: Why is it harder for a man to be honest & faithful, if she gives him all he wants? Why won't a man admit to himself he loves a woman before hurting her first? And why do some men not appreciate a good, honest, faithful, fun, happy - not grouchy, smart, and kind, very loving woman, who is a lady in every way, but is also a very sensual woman behind closed doors? Why do they think it's wrong to marry someone like that. Especially when it's what they really want. And a true lady never shares her secrets anyway......just wondering. I'm glad they made up. It took him long enough to do and say all the things that mattered.... Including buying a new sofa!! lol. Blessings and Happy Thanksgiving 2018

They're making the biggest mistake. You don't want to marry passion cause it doesn't last
