The dancing is also to distract you from what’s going on in the background. ..It’s proving Gambinos point of getting so caught up in dances and crazes that you can’t even focus on the bigger picture.. which is the chaos going on in the background ...genius music video !!
Yes but only school aged children get caught up in 'dances and crazes'.the average adult is not worried about that kind of shit
I was distracted by all the background stuff that i didnt notice thoes crazy dances.
+John Ward
I don't even know where to start with your comment.
"So we should stop making a life for ourselves because others get kill?
J. P. Preach
I'm glad you replied. His comment was just...wow. Incredibly ignorant. He's the reason a music video like this is needed.
You forgot the 17 seconds of silence before he hops on top of the car and dances. It's for the 17 victims of the parkland shooting
17 likes btw lol
omg thats sad i just got chills
Another thing you missed when he makes the finger gun, 17 seconds of silence for the 17 victims in the florida school shooting.
Frettin Frosty I find out this is more disturbing than the other two. In both racism and gun violent, second one is more serious imo(don’t get me wrong, both of them are very worldwide affect towards audience). Someday will have a new thing to worry about daily: about getting shot from everyone everywhere any day
I never caught that!!!!!
That's pretty deep
One of my favorite observations is how the guns get covered by a red rag each time, symbolizing how "red" states will do anything to keep their guns, including covering up gun violence.
*shoots hostage at beginning*
*puts gun into a rag to keep it safe and clean*
*shoots choir*
*handles gun with care again*
*no one runs away from scene or towards him*
*at end of video he points a finger gun*
*everyone runs*
The red rag represents republicans protecting gun laws
They're going to be writing dissertations about this video for a long time. There is so much nuance, and so many layers to peel back from this, and its interpretation is completely dependent on the perspective of the viewer. It's more than just a social commentary on black lives, or police brutality, or gun violence, or celebrity stardom, or popular trends, or appropriation, or even music videos as the medium itself. Glover and Murai have constructed a masterpiece that uses dance, lyrics, musical composition, camera angles and cinematography that captures the real essence of what it is to live in America right now, and it is incredible to watch.
I spent a long time just watching the reaction videos, seeing the looks of horror, confusion and awe as they watched Glover shoot e'm up, dance, flex, and sprint his way through the warehouse. It didn't matter what age, gender, or race they were, because this music video *RESONATED* with every single one of them, because it is so damn honest. This video encompasses all of the things that make America both inspiring and absolutely terrifying. If you're a fan of Childish Gambino or not, this video is a must watch.
Basically art. Or at least my taste of art.
BrokeredHeart 👏👏👏
This is an underrated comment.
I agree. My kid is in an arts high school and they're talking about this in various classes already. I love it.
My feelings exactly. Video isn't even the right word I feel, this is art. Like all great works of art it's going to inspire many interpretations, reactions and discussions.
Jim Crow scares the crap out of me
Everything Girl I know!!
Everything Girl Fax
Well, Jim Crow has been gone for about 55 years. Nothing to be scared of.
Hell yea
that posee just dont sittttt with meeeeee
Omg I learnt even more from just reading the comments
In the beginning, he's standing back to the camera.
Then, he gets a gun from nowhere and shoots that guy.
It is a symbol of how easy it is to hide a gun/acquire a gun.
So watchmojo does the significance of dancing, but not how a guy jumped off a balcony and killing himself in the video, this pretty much signifies that people ignore suicide.
Woaaahh I ain't see that
Yeah and those two chickens
Facts.
"Stay woke", he said. Because you're being distracted.
G Nickson Exactly
Yeah people focus more on fame and being popular than changing the community
But wouldn't this music video count as a distraction? But seriously, people aren't unwittingly being distracted. They WANT to be distracted. Go talk to someone who you don't consider socially conscious about something that you consider important and watch them bolt or change the subject
G Nickson True
G Nickson u cute
After the music stops there is 17 seconds of silence, 17 seconds of silence for the 17 lives lost in the parkland shooting.
See how he's chased after lighting a joint but not after killing people?
l e g a l i z e
Niko Bellic personally i think it’s because nobody in the media cares about black on black violence, while everybody and their mom has an argument for or against the legalization of weed, idk i might be wrong lol
I can also see that as the mob of white people who want him to be quiet.
I smoke cannabis because I can’t cope with the world, let alone my own neighborhood.
OH SHIT. You a genius bro!!!
This is how music should be, music that you must listen/watch series of times to take in the full message. Glad to see artist still make music.....WAKE THE F**K UP Kanye......
Foreshadowing...
The dancing is to show how people are too distracted on memes than things like shootings and to distract want is happening in the background
shut up normie
Bena GD he’s right
Faze Midget He just became a meme
Faze Midget I think u mean Entertainment in general not just memes my guy
THIS IS NOT ANOTHER STUPID LOVE SONG, this not a love song....!! This is AMERIKA
You guys missed the Toyota Corollas, there are like 15 of them in this video from 1980 to now
Timmy Joe PC Tech are the model dates significant? Might be.
A reference to the Vincent Chin murder? Nah, that's another music video in the series of "This is America."
Timmy Joe PC Tech guy lol 😝
Crack epidemic?
Alvin Gil cars of the poor. Also most sold car ever
3:44 when he is holding a invisible gun as it seems and the dancers around him run away, he holds the stance for 17 seconds in the music video for the 17 people killed in the Florida high school shooting
AceTheDiamond nerd
dani Daniels
At least nerds have higher IQs than you.
Zygarden at least your mommy has a higher iq than you. Ah burn! Biatch
dani Daniels Stfu ypu idiot
AceTheDiamond so true
Nobody mentions the fact that this video brings up reparations to the descendants of slaves. When he gets on top the car, the lyrics state "America, you MF-ers owe me". The music goes on with the chorus, "Get your money! Black man, black man, get your money!"
Ryan Moss Oh wow I didn't notice that lmao
Ryan Moss reparations destroy communities, just go to a native reservation, kids growing up and some have never seen their parents go to work, WTF...I think he means, get off the democratic plantation, leave the slave, oppressed, victim mentality that prevents blacks from moving up and get your money.
Diosa Allen I doubt it
Diosa Allen, when did Native Americans get reparations? It doesn't seem to have hurt Japanese Americans.
Diosa Allen Black man dancing= black man getting his money by entertaining Caucasians and the like. That's my perception.
I'm impressed how the gun comes into his hands in the intro, with no camera cuts and you can see he doesn't have it in his trousers to begin with.
The whole thing is only 6 camera shots, that's amazing choreography.
"shirtless and muscled" My man has a dad bod now and I could never be prouder
Not one mention of the lyric, "get your money, black man."
That lyric sticks out to me the most, idk why.
John Stowell all the nonsense that stops us from focusing unity and trust.
It may be too late not just for the black community but America as a whole.
Or, or just maybe he's referencing the black people who get their money and turn a blind eye to the struggle still happening to blacks in an effort to keep the approval of non-blacks and that money instead of investing in the betterment of blacks or using their platform wisely. The collective is more important...Talk all you want about how black people keep blaming others for their lack of ambition so to speak but I'm well read making a high livable wage and I still get the treatment...
Btw, black on black crime is just crime. Segregation in America will show you crime is committed on you by those who look like you because proximity. And if you don't think stats can be skewed for an intended purpose then you should research fats in the food industry.
It like saying a number over and over till it sticks
There’s so many things in this video that could explain a dozen things... All I know, Childish Gambino is a legend cause of this video!!!
XxFr3sh BoyxX He has always been a legend
He was a legend before and will be a icon when all said is done.
He's been a legend. It's just no one wants to admit it
Abraxo Cleaner Facts. Hiro always, if not most, works with Donald Glover on any video or production. And I love Hiro's directing!
XxFr3sh BoyxX He been a legend since his work 30 rock and camp mixtape
Honestly thought watch mojo would mess up with this but they actually did well take my like please.
agree
calante ryan agreed. This was well thought out
Except for the whole “mob of white peoples” thing
Girl shut up
Kadrea Brazil and the "anti gun message"
Wrong from the start, the ending scene is referencing the way slaves ran to escape the south to gain freedom
How's Donald doing these days? You seem to have personal insight into this mindset, so you must know. BTW, the director of "Get Out" was Jordan Peele, the guy in the front center of the church choir. Hard to believe such a prominent cameo would be unrelated.
Bolshoi333 that is not jordan peele
Seems more like he was running from a lynch mob to me.
Bolshoi333 thinks all black people look the same jordan peele not in this video idiot
after he killed a bunch of black people
The video describes perfectly of what the title says, This truly is America
Violence is a global thing but most of the references in the video are related to US not all the continent.
Well he just showed the negative side
no life america has covered the dark things with other things like cartoons, and others reference those dark things or show them and again, such as in video games and cartoons
OMG!
Thank you! Black Twitter was going off on Sunday and people were saying it's murder porn or making light of the situation. But it's dark Satire. Donald isn't a dummy. This was powerful
The ending made me think about slaves running away at night, I like the sunken place idea too!
there was another theory on youtube referrencing the maroons, backed by the various usage of the color throughout the video... the chair, choir robes and wall behind choir to name a few.
I thought more of someone running to avoid being lynched.
Yah made me think more back to lynching and “Run N** Run. Especially with all the Jim Crow references, but could be the sunken place to.
MsUnique idk it wasn't just him running from white people. I think it was just symbolism that the crimes of America (who he was portraying throughout the video) would catch up with us
Both Get Out and this video is referencing the same thing, the narrator/editors just didn’t mention the run-away slave/lynching connection.
Happy for childish gambino been a fan since freaks and geeks video and community 👌🏾
King Slayer Right and let's not forget his new show Atlanta. So good. I've never felt White guilt until watching that show. Love it.
Him and his friends use to make skits in college. Look up Derrick Comedy.
Did you just poop your pants?
Ron Nicklas dude, you shouldn't be guilty cause you're white.
OmegaRant yea u should dawg
Thank you WatchMojo for not being afraid to talk about it. I love that the conversation being had
This song sent chills down my spine
Also the dancing is to distract and entertain while everyone in the background is killing themselves and going through problems
Gary Gadiel 👏
More stuff people missed:
-SZA made a cameo on the car near the end
-Camera pans to kids looking at their phones while their mouths are covered. Could be referencing phone/social media addiction
-21 Savage, Slim Jxmmy, Quavo, and a couple more rappers did the ad-libs for the song
*-I was in the video as an extra*
Well, I wasn't but I thought I was
There was also a spec of dust on that red corolla they shown a few times.
I think the covered mouths might also be showing how the 'wiser' adults aren't listening to the kids who are rallying for change: their voices are dismissed and/or silenced because current voting adults and government officials aren't willing to listen to minors.
TheHuskyK9 also; after he fake held up a firearm and all of his dancers ran off (dressed as school children, mind you) there was seventeen seconds of silence while he lit his joint before the music started back up which was representing the seventeen students killed in the shooting in that one high school in Florida
Ain't that sza on dat car??????
Bryan Ntengerenji yup
Did you watch the video
Bryan Ntengerenji nah her cousin pza
Damn! I always confuse em
Bryan Ntengerenji I thought the same thing and was looking for comments to notice it too 😂😂
The man at the end with the bag over his head while playing the guitar could show the blindness off those who have found peace despite surroundings
This video and song are really amazing. It's not the kind of music I normally listen to in terms of style, but the story it's telling hits home. I love it.
This is the video of the year so far.
Mike Tank Brown ll I agree ! It’s a powerful message ! And the tune bass is dope !
Mike Tank Brown ll j.cole atm is up there
I think at the end when he is running away its a reference to the folk song "Run N* Run".
Maliha Intikhab yep. That was the face of a lynching coming...
No. Its a conditioning that black Americans have a fear of white folks so when he's doing all tje stuff like black on black crime etc he doesn't display the same aggression towards white folks but instead runs
It’s actually him running from a white mob trying to put him in the sunken place (from the movie Get Out.) If you notice it looks the same when he’s finish dancing on the car roof & the dark square looks like the sunken place entrance. The guy from the movie Daniel Kaluuya was also in his music video Red Bone
On first watch I thought he was running from the people behind him but on the second watch they don't seem to be chasing him, but running with him. I wonder if he is running with fear from the America he just showed us.
And what's the point of that? Is it the 1800s?
This should have been top 10.
SZA's cameo as The Statue of Liberty was pretty rad too
This is my favorite music video of all time.
Flickawho this vid is definitely one of the best vids of all time up there with thriller bruh it was pure genius stuff
Da Chop Up for real. I’m not like a 15 year old either, I’m 33. I can’t recall a more poignant, timely and smart video. There are other great ones, but this hits that next level.
kanye could have done something like this to get his message across but he fucked up and just blabbed his mouth with out using his head. while childish gambino took his time and put out a thought provoking music video that a lot of people will not understand but appreciate.
Nick Donald Glover is what Kanye tries to be. A real genius.
@dmarcusBaus ,very true man.
Everyone comparing between CG and Kanye is clearly a highschool kid who never witnessed the impact of kanye on the rap community and how he paved the path for so many artists including gambino himself .. enough with the ignorance
Can you pls stop making everything about race ?? GOD .. we are talking about two artists who gives a F if they are black or not ??
Just because Kanye is not very subtle with what he's saying, doesn't mean he's not coming to the same conclusions as this video is. Honestly, he wouldn't be Kanye if he had some tact. People were okay with his blunt force reactions before this.
The song is about how a shooting happens all the time in the US and we’re sad about it for one day and go back to living our lives forgetting about it, after gambino shoots someone he starts the “this is America” part but quickly switches back to the fun happy music
Gabriel Napoleao EXACTLY, THATS WHAT IVE BEEN SAYING
This is really and eye opener
That's one thing this song is about, but there's a lot going on here. I think the song as several different messages, and a lot is left up to interpretation. It's a great conversation starter, and it gets people thinking about where we are and where we're going as a country.
Gabriel Napoleao True about how we are so num to violence we just ignore it now. People were playing on their phones in the video
I think the chior scene was based on the church killing... It was nine dead and in the music video he shot nine chior members
In the music video he shot ten choir members...
chris L didnt see the tenth one at first "buddy"
Jon Doe Nope you are right. The tenth person didnt die.
all 10 in video died
Um,that 10 tho....
Success history right there. Graduating from community college, to work in NASA and being key in saving an astronaut stranded in Mars to having a great career in the music business. Such a inspiration is Troy
Hey mojo keep up the good work love everything you post
I love WatchMojo.
It's a miracle "they" had a response!👈👈😨
Yes diamonddigger 365, I, too love everything they post :)))))
ruclips.net/video/JLkeGUN5504/видео.html
Best music video in a long time!
This is the most Hyped that Childish has gotten for a long time .🙌🏾🙌🏾🙏🏾, now everyone has finally put some respect on his name .
Love this. Good for Watchmojo not censoring or omitting footage of the executions. That's understanding the importance of the music video and wanting to present rather than just profit.
As soon as he smoked that joint, the music stops and everything seems so calm and relaxed. Then in the next scene we can hear and see the guy with the guitar and we also hear the chior sing, they are back like nothing ever happened and there is no chaos surrounding him. I guess this is kind of a representation of how many people escape their problems and mind using drugs.
You can also see that they are zooming out and going through a door and then we get the shot where he is chased. It's like behind that door is his brain, his mind, and as soon as we take a look outside the "box" we can see that these consequenses or whaterver are chasing after him. The reality.
genius video
important for hip hop culture
simplyrecommended American culture as a whole
Absolutely!
This video is important to far more than just hip hop culture.
it's only important if we talk about it with friends and people we meet who have seen it. Sparking conversations, exchanging opinions and educating ourselves on whats wrong and how we can help fix it
And they say rap/hip hop music is the reason behind the murders and everything today without it we wouldn't be able to Express and shed like on things like this
Can someone please get Childish Gambino aka Mr. Glover to explain and break down his song and video. All the speculation is torture.
He was asked about it at the MET Gala recently and he said "I was just trying to make a good song" I think his statement is part of the message he is sending. That the violence is normalized in our culture. He said it really seriously like he was taking on a personality.
Carla Pena he pulled out the old Bob Dylan trick.
Did anyine see SZA ??? She was in this too? So dope!
Donald Glover sneezes...
*What's the meaning behind this?*
Dodo not funny
@@tassi1362 please shut up
Covid lol
Wait why did the guy with the bag on his head come back to life after he got shot at the beginning?
This may mean that the black community is not completely free of what's happening
I didn’t even think about the sunken place towards the end lol
Hunt Nation cuz it's not a reference

Incoming this “song is stupid” comments. Clearly some people missing the point
Kameron79 or get the point but think it is a stupid point
Frankie Campos Or are just too afraid to admit that there might be some actual truth to it or just didn’t watch the whole video.
DmarcusBaus I don't know why that would scare someone
Frankie Campos Not legit scared, but feel uncomfortable to admit that there is some truth in this music video.
This song is actually amazing, and has such a powerful meaning behind. The beat isn't bad either.
if you imagine that Childish is white, it makes a lot more sense. The dance crazes are also supposed to be "cultural appropriation", how white people love our dance crazes and entertainment but the majority seem to stay silent when it comes to REAL issues like police brutality and mass incarceration. The dance crazes are taking away from what's really going on. Selective attention.
What do we do about police brutality and mass incarceration?
We drink juice
jade You were almost there....until you called Trump supporters idiots. You want to bring peace and equality together for everyone, you have to learn to accept everyone. By calling an entire group of people idiots not even knowing the reason they voted for Trump just alienates you from a large majority of people who could be changed. I know it's trendy to bash conservative white people today. But remember...they are a big chunk of the votes.
jade
I'm 6ft 2inches tall 240lbs. If I corner you in a alley and decide to do some terrible deed who has the power? Who has the control? I do of course 9 times out of ten you would be defenseless. If my little girl wound up in that situation I would sure want her to have a gun. It is the great equalizer. Men no longer have physical power over women. U can call it control cause that is what it is. The power to control a possible dangerous situation and make it out alive.
This is anecdotal but everyone I know owns a gun of some sorts. Not one person has ever had to kill anyone. This idea that people get power hungry when they have a gun is bullshit.
“Cultureal appropriation?” Lmfao you can keep your twerking, aids, and welfare. We can keep iPhones, capitalism, and BMWs thanks.
i love this video, and song. the dancing is that america is distracted by pop culture and memes and don’t pay attention to the violence and discrimination that happen in this country. anyways i love everything in this video. also the silent part in the middle is 17 seconds of silence for the 17 teens killed at the school shooting.
I noticed that the entire video takes place within a warehouse. To me, this is a very subtle but important supporter to the theme "This Is America" and capitalism.
America is built on capitalism, and warehouses are a key component of our economic system, since they provide a central location for receiving, storing and distributing products.
I still maintain that the dancing on top of the car is a MJ callback. Remember his back alley dancing in the long Black or White video?
And to think 3 years ago middle America was outraged by a lil ol’ police car 🚔 sinking under water in Beyoncé Formation music video. Wait till they get a load of this 🤣.
#ThisisAmerikkka
Judas Iscariot ummm the black community should be criticized. We aren’t perfect and people should see a reflection of themselves in this video and how aloof they are to what’s happening in the background. But as long as their favorite rapper is dancing and dropping an album, who cares about the sinister things that’s happening in the world. But for some reason, it isn’t blacks who are outraged by this video. Check out Faux News and Alex Jones and any other Alt Right media interpretation on this video. They are PISSED and I love it 😍
Judas Iscariot you’re talking to a different kind of Black. Yes we all come in different shades and mindsets too😂. My original comment was showing the irony and outraged people had when Beyoncé debuted her Formation video which wasn’t even a quarter as political as this video. Donald Glover is showing how carefully the Guns are taken cared of by being covered in a RED cloth after it goes into a human person’s body. That’s reminiscent of our social climate today. Protect the guns, sweep away the bodies. Who protects the guns most? NRA. Who backs NRA? Republicans. So there was no secret why he chose to have the guns wrapped in a red cloth.
Judas Iscariot it’s funny how you say you’re not a Fox News fan but totally ran with their talking points 😂. Anyway if you ask me, both Republicans and Liberals are two wings on one bird. Especially the bought elitist. Neither is good for the black community. One side oppresses the other and want to roll back Civil Rights legislation and the side wants to keep them needy, dependent and subservient. I’ve been a independent voter since 2006 and a strong supporter of Jesse Ventura and his policies. There’s a lot both the black and white communities need to do to fix themselves but I won’t even begin to get in to that because I feel like I’m typing to someone who wears rose colored glasses anyway. Have a good day. ✊🏿
Hey, Fragile Keisha, you hate hate America so much, you’re free to move to shithole Africa.
Austin Matthew we don't hate America, look in the mirror
The song taking place in an empty warehouse is one of the biggest symbols in this song for Americas problems. America is filled with cities of empty warehouses from when all manufacturing got moved overseas. All the workers had mortgages on houses they could no longer afford, that were now worth nothing because they were in cities with no jobs. This led to people turning to crime to survive, and turning to drugs and alcohol to try and dull the pain of their lives.
The brown and white chicken facing opposite directions could symbolize how the black and white community are divided up in a way, basically racism
the top 1 thing people didn't notice is definitely the guy standing to the right side holding water bottles during the zoom out shot with gambino on top of the car at the ending around 3:33-3:34 or so lmao
I've notice the second time I watched it but no one talk about it.
Soooo not as existential, but you can see Sza sitting on a car at the end of the video.
I want to know why they selected the cars that they did?
Philando Castile was shot in a car similar to the ones in the video.
Makanvi
Which one? There’s cars in it from 1980-2010.
In most other artists music video you'll see flashy cars, i think childish gambino is creating a strong contrast to that, and also the fact that most people in america in the more poor areas, use such vehicles
I think it might be because a lot of Americans are buying foreign cars and not supporting American cars which if we all bought American cars, there would be more jobs they money would stay in the USA,however it could be because rappers use flashy cars and Toyota isn't flashy but idk. This is America
I thought the cars represent all the people that get stopped by the cops on the highway and have to leave their cars. Those are usually the everyday kinds of cars people drive.
The music is far from my taste in music. However, Donald Golover, Childish Gambino, is beyond genius. Those offended by the music video honestly are part of the target audience he plans to shock, while the other half who absolutely adore it understand where he's coming from. It's to shock and provoke while portraying a message of his version of America. It's genius!!
Donald Glover has done so much in his career, he can sing, rap, write, act, do stand up comedy, dance.... he’s one of the most creative artists of all time & a multi-talented person. But 10,15,20 years from now or even when he dies he’ll be remembered mostly for this video/song at a time where it was needed! This is the kinda music you teach in schools.
This song is very true but lets be honest america will never change it will forever be like this sadly even if we ban guns it will never end
Thats the white bronco from oj
This is America is only a masterpiece. Nothing more...and Gambino is a genius!
I really liked watching this video, yeah it's hard to watch but sometimes we need a push to see the reality of our world we live in. Truth is sometimes what people don't want to hear. Which is why I'm glad he did do this video.
The music video is just gold, his dance moves and expressions 😂😂 on point
It simply takes a ton of a lot of thoughts and ideals, and things he knows will make people say 'what the fuck?' and get drawn further into debating. That's pretty much a lot of marketing now. It's about getting every other reaction you can and thus being relevant. Throw every other thing you can think of against the wall and see what sticks and then concentrate the most juicy into the final cut to fit the time frame. Art and great things can often luckily happen to benefit from it at some times more than others thus.
It simply did it's job to grab attention and maybe have a few thoughts, but sure enough it could've been hit or miss and happened to fly through the needle as a hit and doubled back for a better re thread given events and timing. You can be pretty impressive when you put enough things together that work together and intentionally set things to jar people when you throw them out of the process again and again adding chaos among what's in such contrast to the orderly processes you put in front of them.
The simple jarring art of taking things familiar and comfortable, and then ripping the stability of it away in every other random ideal to see if people catch a deeper meaning or not.
Bangcat I bet it sucks knowing that nobody cared
What about the Young Thug vocals??
MrMadeye2020 man. Talkin bout a movie n shit
I just came from snl where he performed this
Tbh the dancing is a good distraction because as much as I try to focus on the back ground my eyes always go back to the dancing
Also there's 17 seconds of the video where Glover stands there in silence. I think those 17 seconds were for the 17 victims of the Parkland shooting. Someone else noticed this and I thought it made sense.
How disconnected am I that this video doesn't represent America to me at all?
lol i feel the same, im white with privilege i guess
Number 2?
Literal lyrics:
Yeah, this is America (woo, ayy)
Guns in my area (word, my area)
I got the strap (ayy, ayy)
I gotta carry 'em
I get the rhetoric he is trying to invoke. But anti gun? There does need to be a discussion but anti gun?
Yes the guns were treated with care and the bodies were dragged off.
is there any reference on why is Gambino Shirtless???
To draw more focus to the pants.
Whenever he has a gun around he kills. The moment he wants to kill, but he has no gun around, he points his hand as if having a pistol, but all the school children around him run, and he chills with a joint. People, maybe even more teens, are emotional, they get mad, irrational. Having guns in those moments is a recipe for tragedy.
He's super fucking creative, I'm seriously impressed by the intricacy in its layers.
The most surprising thing is this got nominated for a Grammy and I don't know why
And I'm black.
because it’s a good song AND has a lot of subtle messages. some people aren’t smart enough to catch them tho so i don’t blame ya😌💞
yeah. and i’m black.
Cars in the final, in my opinion, based on historical content.
Models very popular in segregation time in the USA. The last model car shows SZA, American singer, with hair like crown. Reference to the Statue of Liberty. It's a distraction for the public.
"Only intellectuals get the meaning of this video im special" no its a pretty easy understood message
you must watch rick and morty then.
Only intellectuals take these videos and change their lives
You forgot the part he said” this a celly that’s a tool!” He means everyone records violence and bad things happening instead of helping therefore a cellphone is a tool
I wish people would also acknowledge that in the part where he makes the gesture of the gun with his hands and everyone runs away, before he smokes, was the image that an unarmed black man is the scariest thing in America.
I think the end of the world is near cuz of all these hidden

Y'all shoulda got Morgan Freeman to narrate this one. These comments are a very sad reflection to the ignorance and denial that racism doesn't exist... or that Black people "victimize" ourselves with it. Clearly, you are not educated on how the impact of "redlining" created these communities you disparage that were driven by the discrimination of banking institutions. We had our own black- wealth enterprise with Black Wall Street, but that was burned down and taken from us, too. When we try to stand up to the system of oppression with non-violent, organized revolution, we are put into FBI Terror watchlists, just because we want the right to live in a world that's not even right, which is subjective... but FAIR and EQUAL. I am a person who respects all points of view whether I agree with them or not, but to discard racism as nonrelevant today, or to say It's our own fault that we have bad communities means that you have not educated yourselves on the true history of this country, and you are out of touch with the horrors that WE as a BLACK COLLECTIVE still experience today. I hope if nothing else, this video helps people take accountability for the pillaging and plundering that has been endured for hundreds of years on the backs of Black and Brown people. This message is not conveyed with bitterness or resentment. This is FACT. Bless up, y'all.
SAY IT LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK
This!! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Jazzy Moni black individuals need to start thinking for themselves and not as a victimized community
Mark Wilkie Yah. Uh-huh. The entire premise of this video is the victimization of Black people. And for the record, most of us are educated and get up every day to work and make a living with hope and optimism. We dont ask to be oppressed, slain, racially profiled and thrown into indentured servitude in the privatized prison industry, but it is our reality. So thanks for your privileged and clearly blind feedback. It will not be taken under advisement. Please go read up more before you stereotype an entire group of people into a Groupthink mindset.
Mark Wilkie We will disagree agreeably.
I do agree with most of this. But it’s nothing new. It’s been done before. MJ tried a similar video before but to bring all races together.
iTechUOutGuy no shit. It's all pretty stock standard messages
its a combination of delivery and message that makes it different
I think this is not about bringing races together, this is about how abusive and opressive one race is over another.
Tyler Williams no
Francys Codecido yeah that's a good point
"Why you love your guns more than our sons. Why you citizens first? why you worshiping a flag?" Each time gun talk comes out I think of that line.
the dancing represents entertainment and how it covers up everything

Don’t know if anyone else noticed but Glover stops for 17 secs near the end, in memoriam to the victims of the Parkland shooting.
Has anyone noticed how when he hit the blunt everything calmed down? Because today in Black America that’s a relaxer and a distraction/pain reliever to take our minds off the pain of America
You get a dislike because you forgot the chicken
Freak Unleashed I seen chicken
