Bento Box with Pork Belly Chashu
Ingredients
For the Chashu
1 Tbsp vegetable oil
2 lb pork belly
1 cup water
3/4 cup soy sauce
3/4 cup sake
3/4 cup mirin
1/2 cup honey
1 bulb garlic, cut into halves
2 oz ginger, sliced
1 large leek, cleaned and cut into 3-inch long pieces
For the Bento Box (For 1)
1 cup warm cooked rice or any of starch you’d like
1 boiled egg, cut in half
1 green onion, cut into long thin strips or chopped, soak in ice water

Okay...I didn’t have an actual “bento box” I just dished on a small plate. First let me say that I have been wanting to make this for at least 2 months. I finally got around to getting the ingredients yesterday. I followed your directions to a “T”...let me just say OMG!!!! It’s everything I dreamed it would be! I made this using your recipe. It was soooo delicious. My mom (new recipes skeptic) took one bite and immediately went to get more sauce. It's bottled in our fridge right now. I would ask how long it keeps for, but I don't see it remaining for more than a day. A million thumbs up.

I was thinking the same thing... the sauce would be even more infused into the meat!
But the meat will be too soft, loose the chewy texture.
Lam Bui I think don’t pressure cook it for too long. Then the meat will be more tender. Its either way actually, depending on the texture desired.
Seonkyoung, I really loved this one! I've been looking at Bento boxes for a bit, I'd like to learn more about them and get ideas for filling them up for my granddaughter who is 2 years old. I think that she would love it! Any suggestions for little ones? She loves Thai, Vietnamese and Korean food already so she's open to trying new flavors and textures. Introducing her to chopsticks as well.
