I don't approve of comparisons between Senna and G.Villeneuve. Senna would never leave room for another driver like Gilles would do. For Gilles, driving an F1 car was really like a sport, he had a sense of fair play that Senna never had. Senna drove because he only wanted to be a World Champion. Gilles drove because he loved it. Didn't matter what position he was on the starting grid, he would make the same effort to finish 12th as he would to win. This is why Enzo loved him so much.
as a 45 yr old canadian male i was so thrilled to find this movie. I had heard of it but never had a chance to see it thanx so much for posting this . Gilles was the reason i became an f1 fan his skills and spectacular style were showcaseed for us on the cbc back in the day . i wonder if any of the video tape will ever see the light of day again there were so many sundays where our whole family was glued to the tv watching the antics of our own canadian born f1 god R.I.P. Gilles
thanks for sharing gilles was the greatest driver I have ever seen,i was a big f1 fan at the time when gilles was driving,it took me a long time to start watching f1 again after he was killed, there has been no driver since he died who can compare .
Gilles died and Pironi was mamed in freak accidents. Nothing broke. They did not make a mistake. Gilles died a few weeks before I attended my first Grand Prix. I fully intended to meet my hero that day. He most certainly would have been World Champion in 1982. The fact that Ferrari won the constructor championship in 1982 bears this fact out. The Ferrari 126C2 was a excellent if tragic car. Mario Andretti was a sub for Didier Pironi and nearly won his first race in it with minimal testing.
It has taken decades for me to mentally and emotionally process the death of Gilles Villeneuve. Didier Pironi's career ending wreck and subsequent death in a boating accident only underscores the tragedy.
I have finally stopped blaming Didier Pironi, another favorite driver of mine, for Gilles death. Others blamed Jochen Mass. The accident was a freak accident which could have happened to anyone. Gilles was being Gilles that day. He was driving as he always did. I've even heard Niki Lauda say the same thing.
Given a choice of; talking with Enzo Ferrari OR owning a Ferrari, I would definitely choose the second option. Given the choice of chatting with Gilles, OR watching him thrash the living fuck outta his Ferrari 312T's or 126C's, I would again choose the latter. As interesting as he may have been, personally, he was, to me, a televisual entertainer. This hour is solely 'blah, blah, blah' from men & woman who know. But it shows ZERO of the driving passion that was Joseph Gilles Henri Villeneuve.
Gill Villenueve. One of the best pilot of the history of the races. Thank you to made people dream all over the world.

You can see why everyone loved Senna so much, he reminded them of Giles. The similarity is uncanny

1979 world champion Jody Scheckter
was ok documentary but for god sake not a single clip or interview of him talkin ..
Horrido pironi...
1:59 Gilles was fully aware of the risks ? Unfortunately he never suspected his own team mate would be his murderer. Shame on your memory, Pironi.

dubbing is horrible ! the dubbers tried to imitate the drivers accent
