Love that you decided to lengthen the veranda and used the solar panels to do so. Looks like it freed up an area that you can use for something else. Nice job!
It's a porch, or a veranda, or a patio. Most people I know use those terms interchangeably (I'm in the western US). Fun to see Zoe & Akira protecting you by barking down the thunderclouds.
No Saturday without the Ghost Town Vlog❣️👻 Amazing work you put into this property. I am very sure the previous owner is pleased to see it, who wouldn't? 😊 You caught a double rainbow, those are rare. Weird that the rain is still on, but it was the same here in Turkey until the end of May, which is not normal. You could have needed some help building that solar panel roof, but you master so much on your own, good you are tall. 🎉 I loved the clip from the early morning (my favourite time) and the last glimpse of the house and land from the drone. Looks stunning!❤ I hope you can get the land next to you, would be really great extension.... And a lot more work. 😅 Have a nice week!
You are really fun to watch, throwing a box over your shoulder, dogs barking at thunder. All in a days work. It will be fun watching everything come together. Great rainbows!🌈
Hey, Jasper! I don't know if you are aware, but there is a reason you angle solar panels up to the sun. It's called the 'angle of insolation', which basically means the further towards the poles you are, the lower the angle of the sun relative to the ground, and so the higher the angle the panels must be tilted. The general rule of thumb is to use latitude as the 'optimum' or best guess, so your latitude at Castelo is about 39degN, so the panels should be at a similar angle to maximise insolation - and so maximise power generation. The lower the angle, the less power you will get from them. Now I gather you had the old 'mixed voltage strings' issue, as you mentioned the string with the least panels affected the other, and this is a common problem with offgrid solar setups with mismatched 'strings' of panels, or mismatched current/voltage. Whichever is the lesser, the one with the greater capacity reduces output to match. I don't know why either. Electrickery. It just does this. So there are a couple of things you can do to fix this, but the simplest is to utilise an MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracker) as this has the effect of cancelling out the votage/current differences and maximises power output. Sometimes you need a MPPT for each 'string'. So, given this previous problem, you might not immediately realise you aren't producing as much power as you *could be*, becasue you might actually be making a little bt more than you were before, but with the panels on the near flat roof, I can assure you, total production is reduced, over time. So EITHER you need to angle the panels as they were in the garden, OR add some more panels at the same flat angle to increase overall power production. It can be a seriously noticeable loss, going from 30+ deg 'angle of insolation' down to what, about 15deg...??? That's like half. So if you were not aware of this issue of the angle, be aware now! My suggestion would be to put more plastic corrugated roof sheets where the solar is, and then use the old aluminium angled mounts to put the panels up to the correct angle, on top of the roofign sheets. This way you avoid the leaks and have a much larger waterproof outdoor area. And don't have to look at the underside of the panels! I think it WAS a 'porch' but now with a roof over it it is a 'verandah'. But the terms are semi-interchangeable. I would go with verandah, as it's a bit more upmarket. lol Good luck with the solar..!! You are making good progress with the restoration. And your colleague is doing great things with the gardens. Enjoy! Cheers Mark in Oz
You should connect the posts to the concrete to protect from wind. Might want to invest in a impact driver as straining your drill driving screws is not good for the drill. Chipping freshly cut branches will run and feed much better in your chipper. Great job on the solar install.
Ziet er goed uit. Alleen als je de volgende keer een balk verlengt maak dan de verbinding 2.5 keer de breedte van de balk dan is de balk bijna net zo sterk als een hele balk. En gebruik houtlijm.

Hey Jasper nice work. Especially solo. The dewalt jigsaw is an easy fix. Just tight the nut on the cam so the lever locks the angle plate. It’s probably come loose or worn slightly. Still looks like a good tool.
In excited about your solar veranda.. It’s a very practical use of the panels. You have so much more outside living space now.. This space is called a veranda in Oz . We could not live without them😊
Love watching you Jesper! I live vicariously through you and other adventurers. If I were younger I would be there giving you my 2 cents (useless advice). Should those posts supporting the solar panels be secured to the concrete walk? (My 2 cents 😉💗)
The word veranda, likely derived from the Portuguese word varanda, meaning "long balcony or terrace." Extending along the outside of a building, this architectural structure has a roof and usually opens up to the outside.and covers a large area A veranda is a common feature on houses at a beach resort or in other warm climates.usually built right on the ground and a porch is built in front of the building entrance. It is an outside extension on the same floor level as the interior. Porches can often be enclosed for protection from the weather, insects, and other external factors. Sometimes, the enclosure is more stylistic and consists of columns, railings, or short walls. In other cases, a porch can be entirely isolated with screens or full-height walls. Finally, porches are always covered, mainly by a roof extension.and usually built up off the ground, --- From "UNDERSTANDING THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PORCH, PATIO, VERANDAH, OR LANAI ENCLOSURE' by Antony the Researcher 😁
Jasper, to the looks of it, thats an old key. You know that thoose keys has han corrisponding number ingraved right? Thoose are most of time, atleast at you homeland, nit be made by a keymaker, but they just have thoose😜 and the number corrispons with the number on the lock itself. Basicly... Your never out of keys in the end😋 That is... If i am not mistaken, but the interior locks in the 60s 70s were like that and the key look from that time atleast😜🤣
your house is looking very nice. But your garden needs alot of work. It looks very disorganized. You need to remove all of the rocks and your garden look really tidy.
To me, his focus is all over the place, the entire ghost town. And till now, his initial building is not done. How long has it been? I am disappointed. I was planning to visit and I am not able now.

This is just like watching a Star wars movie 🎥 everything is coming out in reverse lol have fun 🐿️🛸🕊️
You"ve made a miracle out of this poor little house!!! Congratulations on your hard job!!!
Congratulations on extending the patio roofing and incorporating the solar panels on top of it.
Great news that you might get some traction on buying some more properties in the village, you have got the patience of a saint, just what is needed

Did you fix your posts to the concrete? I hope so as it would be a shame to loose the panels in a storm.😊

Hi Jasper, great job on the solar. Congratulations on purchasing more property. 🎉😊
Have a good weekend.
With the extension all the rain water will go straight to the garden perfecto

I'd call it a veranda. The solar panels look good on top. Fingers x'd the lady sells the land with shed.
Rain has not stopped play
that version is called a Patio
Shortening up the length of the cables will also make your solar panels more efficient. Good call.👍

Awesome job Jasper👌👌👌💯💯💯💯💯💯
I love what you did with the panels. It's more efficient for them to be part of your home. Your so patient!!
Patio is the word you’re looking for I guess
You should feel proud of your self for all the improvements you are making in your ghost village. We feel your pride.
Good afternoon!!! 🌹🌹🌹🌹
Hi Jasper I have the same Greenhouse. I got mine at Aldi. I love it ! What the heck happened to Duarte. did he flee the country ?🤣😂 Jasper you are becoming a Portuguese Land Baron ! way to go 👍
Capture the water frm roof and veranda , with a pvc tank you have lots of water, maybe a water filter system for drinking water .
Best place to put the panels things are coming along nicely good luck

a whole load of surface area on the roof to collect the rain for the garden in one of those big plastic cubes now. ✌
One of your best episodes
the dead grass and stones, pallets and all of the junk it does look good.

I always look forward to your videos, I love your work❤
Looks great Jasper.🦋🎉💙☺👍
