You brought up an interesting point about the Flareon VMAX PSA 10 Rate. I shopped around on Mercari for the right deal on the Premium Collection boxes that had good Promo Pics w/ good centering. I got 2 sets of these boxes, 1 to open and one to keep sealed. Luckly, The Vaporeon and Jolteons came back x3 PSA9 and x1 PSA10 (Jolteon VMAX) but both Flareons were in rough shape so I kept them in the boxes sealed for now. I'm doing like you now, and hunting for raw cards. I've been lucky enough to buy some middle level hitters in the $10-30 range that sell PSA8 @$25-35, PSA9 @$50-$60, and PSA10 @$100+. It's a very nice risk to reward safe zone. Thanks for the awesome vid as always.
Looovvveeee that you look at the 8 values as well to encompass it into the downside risk protection. You won’t get a ton of them but knowing that there is a market and a decent price waiting for you is genius!! It’s been tough sledding on the EBay front trying to find those hidden gems. They def didn’t do these poor cards any favors with the packaging that’s for sure!! Always appreciate you Mark, have a great one brother!!
great video! im sure your pre screener you have worked with for a long time and trust them. the one thing i worry about with cards that are not serial numbered sending to someone before grading is them switching the card for a worse condition version as i heard that before.
Yeah I can totally see how that’s a concern! I feel secure as I’ve been to their physical location, they send me pictures and have an excellent reputation. I’ve also got enough big dollar 10’s through them that if they are skimming they are doing a poor job of it 😂😂. However, even with all that it’s still a bit never wracking!! Absolutely! This might be a good video topic but at a high level I’ve been in the sports card grading space for a long time and I found a card shop in Georgia that really is a throw back to old school card shops and is run/owned by a guy who’s been in the biz for over 40 years. I’ve been there in person and have used them for a ton of submissions so the trust and rapport is there. The only downside is that sometimes I don’t get the same discounts as if I were a PSA club member. However, in my mind, the upside fat outweighs that. They have saved me a ton in grading fees over the years by noticing things I’ve missed and on the flip side there have been times where I might have not subbed a card but had nothing to lose by sending it to them and they’ve subbed and I’ve got awesome grades!! Ok after typing all this out I’ve decided I need a whole video on it LOL!! More to come but I hope this at least helps!! Feel free to ping me with more questions and I’ll be happy to answer!! I have a question on these modern plays where first to market gives the ultimate premium until there's no more margin as more gets graded. If I graded 10 cards and all of them were PSA 10s and I'm first to market, would you flood all 10 slabs to auction, trickle them down with auctions day by day, do 1 listing post with 10 available and trickle down the BIN price to market value. What would be the best play here, are there options I'm not considering, maybe spread the listings to other selling platforms like mercari?

I’ll check eBay sold listings first and if multiple 10’s are selling everyday at prices I like I have no problem doing multiple BIN listings and I might run an auction or two with different end times. In addition I’ll use other platforms in conjunction just as you described. I’m a fan of FB Marketplace and I’m in a few B/S/T FB groups where I can post cards as well. I haven’t done mercari or OfferUp yet not for any reason other then I just haven’t lol. Usually I don’t have a problem moving cards. I’be got a pretty decent system for finding cards that are in demand thus helping with the liquidity factor. Again, awesome question and I appreciate it!! Have a great one!!

promo cards have a higher chance of having flaws straight out of the pack compared to cards you can pull because of the packaging differences so that's what the deal is with that flareon having a worse gem rate. it's usually whitening.
Superb question!! I’ve seen several “lots” with all 3 graded in 10 and I didn’t see any premium realized. It was an extremely small sample size and mostly auctions so it would be interesting to try a BIN with a 5-10% premium baked in. My gut tells me it would sell… haven’t fixed the discord yet BUT that is my project this week!! I’m determined to figure it out 😂. Have a great one brother!!

Awesome question, Uncle Sam always gets his cut!! I think it's a case by case basis where you have to know your tax bracket and selling volume. You'd have to factor in some sales where you have some loss which would offset the gains. For us we do our Pokémon buying/selling/content through a DBA under our LLC so we have some abilities that are unique. There is an old saying in investing that you should always be aware of taxes but don't make a move based solely off them. If what you would pay in taxes would completely negate your upside it's probably not a good investment vehicle. That's at least my thoughts. EPIC question man!!!
PSA GEM guideline are front within a tolerance not to exceed 55/45 to 60/40 front and 75/25 on back. I’ve found in my grading times that if centering is off everything else needs to be an absolute 11 if centering is spot on you can have some wiggle room. Eye appeal is a big part of the PSA grading process in my opinion and I look for centering before I look at anything else. Freaking epic question, I love it!! Thank you!!
If you really wanna make some bank and got the time, go look at prices on diamond and pearl era holos. Talking 700 dollars or more for a psa 10 and raw cards costing about 10$. And psa 9s for over 100. Torterra and infernape from diamond and pearl and articuno from majestic dawn are huge chases and payoffs in a psa 10. Thats what im going after right now, hard to source though

Its ebay for japan and ylu have to use google translate but you can find some serious gems there with very low pops in good raw condition. I just picked up a mint copy of a rayquaza ex 3/12 promo from a starter deck thats worth 250 in a 9 and 600 in a 10 for about 20$. Youll only find crummy copies of these types of cards on ebay that people have already imported and sold back to the market as NON psa 10 candidates but if you actually look in japan you can have some pretty amazing luck somtimes.

Oh man… I read this and spent a loonnggg time thinking about it. I even went into all my spreadsheets because it was a tough call. Here is my thought, ES is my pick and here is why. Sun and Moon has a booster box at $900 in Team Up, XY has Evolutions holding at $700 and Flashfire which is just crazy. Each series seems to have that “it” set that just goes bonkers. ES sure feels like that set to me. Celebrations you’d have to get the UPC and it’s the same price as ES Booster right now. I think ES booster might outpace Celebrations in the 5 year time frame but Celebrations might have the 10 year edge. Gun to my head I’m saying ES but dude it’s a total gut feeling!! LOVE questions like this that get the smoke to come from my ears 😂😂. Appreciate you man!!
Geez, what a great video! I love love love huge % spreads between the raw card and a PSA 10. Those eevee-lutions boxes where the PSA 10 is about 500% the value of the raw card is a perfect example. I love the downside risk that is "low cost to entry" too! Buy an $18 Vaporeon alt art promo with a downside of only losing the 18$ entry? lol ill take that with the upside of a 500% gain (not taking into account expenses). My heart says you're doing everyone such a service. My head says stop giving away the economic cheat sheet lol... I'll let my hearts advice win on this one though. You know on the shipping I’m averaging about $3-$4 I just shipped a football card out this morning for $3.60 so $3 a card might have been a touch light. Maybe $4 or $4.50 a card moving forward just to be safe. I think that’s a good call out and $4.50 is good number to use moving forward. Every penny counts!! Ok I’m off to battle with Discord!! I grew up really poor so I couldn't collect much. Now I have a bad habit of getting REALLY into flipping collectibles so I can fund the ones that I want for myself.

I feel like these cards were horrible left to right thickness so be wary if you want to make this your play as well people. If you don't know what that means, you aren't ready for PSA. Do some more research before you go that route.
Centering and poor packaging have been the 2 big challenges I've noticed. I get they want them securely in the box but I've had quite a few where the corners are bent or whitened on the back because they are jammed in there! Good call out on the centering man, have an awesome one!!

PSA doesn't publish it but you take total 10's divided by total subs to get yourself the GEM rate! Gemrate.com also has a lot of awesome info on it!

I grew up really poor so I couldn't collect much. Now I have a bad habit of getting REALLY into flipping collectibles so I can fund the ones that I want for myself.

I feel like these cards were horrible left to right thickness so be wary if you want to make this your play as well people. If you don't know what that means, you aren't ready for PSA. Do some more research before you go that route.
Centering and poor packaging have been the 2 big challenges I've noticed. I get they want them securely in the box but I've had quite a few where the corners are bent or whitened on the back because they are jammed in there! Good call out on the centering man, have an awesome one!!
