I really love your tutorials. You dont just show us what youre doing, but actually explain why youre doing so and so. Really helped a beginner like me understand the tools better.
Great tutorial...it worked...many RUclips tutorials dont work because they miss things out....The only thing I would say is that at the end I wanted my background back amd you left yours white and didn't say how to change it....so I had to figure it out myself, but it looks great so thank you....
Cool tutorial. Not quite what I was looking for, but super usefully none the less. I was hoping you weren't going to use a stock image. But this giving me the inspiration that maybe I can find stock images that will work for what I'm looking to do.
Great video Dansky. I did mine yesterday. Result was o.k, as really need a high res image and I didn't have one at the time. However, I did get a better image by painting black(soft light) to add depth to shadows. It seemed to work better than colour burn for some reason. Cheers!
When getting rid of the black background with the colour range menu, I realised that I was getting a different result and instead a grey background. I solved this by checking invert box in the same menu
Did anyone else have an issue when they inverted the bottom layer of the original image? Mine turned white, but you could see the color dodge wherever I used the brush, not just on the powder like it shows in your video...any idea why? I watched the video like 20 times and can't figure out what I'm doing differently.
Hey! You can find it at Google, just search for white powder explosion and there is the photo at jpg. The image in the tutorial is jpg. Hope I help you, good luck!!
Good explanations but this a tutorial on how to take somebody's existing powder explosion artwork and recolour it, then write on it. Not really what the video is called.
This is probably the most creative Photoshop tutorial I have seen in my entire life...
Keep it up Dansky !!
Cheers Soumya - glad you enjoyed it :D
Now the question is, "Is it possible to create a Photoshop action out of this ?", so that next time things will become a little speedy.....

@2:00 Is there a reason why you didn't just make the new layer underneath, paint-bucketed it with the BG colour and then merged?
When getting rid of the black background with the colour range menu, I realised that I was getting a different result and instead a grey background. I solved this by checking invert box in the same menu
