I was blessed to take piano lessons with this sweet lady for about 7 years. You’ll never meet a kinder person no matter how hard you try! She’s such a caring, genuine individual. Not to mention one heckuva piano player! Love you Mrs. Record!
I had the privilege of selling Miss Lucy the keyboard she plays in this movie when I worked for Tarpley Music in Lubbock. I performed with her when a friend invited me to sub in the band for a senior adult dance in Slaton. I played trombone on one gig and trumpet on another. Miss Lucy held the band together.
A group of us from the Mineral Wells High School Class of 1955 were eating breakfast in Mineral Wells before our class Reunion in May 2018 when Miz Lucy came to our table and said that she had graduated in 1941 up in the Panhandle. She invited us to the Western Swing Jamboree at the Country Club. She's the real deal.............will be 94 this summer.
Wow, that picture of Panther Hall Ft Worth that was a shocker my great uncle was Bob Wills & The Texas Playboys. Bob was the main draw on the opening night of Panther Hall. In fact, that night was recorded and made into an album. Bob Wills Live from Panther Hall 1963. My dad was playing that night and is on that album he is playing guitar and singing an old Chuck Berry song called 40 days. He was 23 years old. That is the only time I ever got to hear him on stage. Don't let Western Swing Die!!!
Hello Jim - I own Ham's Barber Shop (circa 1911) on Main Street in Turkey Texas where your great uncle Bob Wills was a barber in 1928 & 1929. He would play the fiddle between hair cuts. I also own the restored 1928 Phillips 66 Service Station on Main Street in Turkey where the 1948 Bob Wills tour bus is parked. Remember, Bob Wills Day is the last Saturday in April in Turkey, Texas - the Home of Bob Wills. On a side note, my wife and I went out last month to the old Wills house near Turkey. It was built in 1922 and it's still standing!
Beautiful story - I got connected to your You Tube site through the Josh Flowers story. You should submit your work to CBS Sunday Morning. BTW - you have a new viewer in Ontario Canada.

Lucy is the sweetest lady you would ever hope to meet. Can't wait for the next WSMSS event in Wichita Falls TX to meet up with her again.

Very special lady. Music comes naturally to her. Very good video from TCR.
