I loved this video. Thank you for this great content!
Aw thank you! It’s a pleasure to create!
Northern California and Oregon haystacks are wonderful subjects. I find that I exaggerate the breaking surf on the rocks but who is going to tattle on me. Though I have a stand up easel and also a tripod I usually paint small enough to hand hold my sketchbook.
Love it! Exaggeration is 👍🙌!
I love the west coast for painting, but I am also pretty bias😅.
I absolutely love this video two creatively awesome artists, what more can you ask for, I mean really?❤🤗❤
You’re sweet! Thank you!
Loved your paintings and seeing the scenery. Time with your sister is always fun.
The best! 🙌
How fun! You’ve inspired me to look into planning a paint-cation!
Yes!! Do it!
I love cannon beach; it has been years since I traveled there. Living in WA state, there is no excuse, I definitely need to get back down there. Thank you so much for sharing yours and your sister's adventure.
It is a magical beach! Hope you can make it back there soon!
Fantastic! That's a really good trip and you both looked like you really enjoyed it, and lovely work by you both. Thanks Emily, xx
Thank you, David!
Beautiful. So talented
Hello I'm from Oregon and have a beach house in Barview. Which is between Garibaldi and Rockaway. Next trip I would love to invite you and your sister to be my guest. We have a beautiful view of jetty. My favorite is walking down through the park/campground to the beach where I often sit and paint. It's a very quite spot. Please come back to our lovely coast. You did a fantastic job of showing off our spectacular area and I thank you so much!
You are so kind! Sounds like a great place to paint! 💕
Grew up in Brookings, Oregon. A mile from Harris Beach.
The beaches, creeks, rivers, logging roads, wildlife; hell, the local people are all epic photography, graphite, color pencil, ink, watercolor, acrylic, gouache, oil paint, you name your media, heaven for artists!
Oh wow! Lucky you! 🙌❤️
@@EmilyOlsonArt I live in Arizona now 😆 talk about a change; yet, other than the beaches, the rest holds true here as well! 👍
We live in a great country!!!
No kidding! I live up 3 hours North of Brookings and the landscape is so gorgeously scenic. I plan to drive back down this summer.
Brilliant Video, thank you so much for sharing !
Of course! It was a blast!
Wao qu efabulosa experiencia, me has dado una fabulosa idea, gracias por compartir!!
You definitely arrived ready to work! You guys just devoured those gorgeous landscapes. It seems like every item in your kit was carefully selected- it would be interesting to see you pack for a trip like this! We subscribed to @AnnaRoseBain, too!
Thank you so very much!! And thanks for subbing to Anna’s channel, too! 🙌
Thank you! 🙏
It's insane how we can see the evolution in confidence in just a week. Your paintings are gorgeous!
I appreciate that!
What a fun start to my day! We have a home at Road's End on the Oregon coast. You would be welcome to be our guests if you wanted to reprise your twin art escape! Thanks for sharing your adventures and artwork with us!
Enjoyed all of your paintings just beautiful.
Thanks so much 😊
What a special set of memories. Good for you two for making time. Thanks for sharing your adventure.
You make plein air painting seem like so much fun-almost tempted to try it again. Your work is just beautiful.
Definitely worth a try! ❤️🙌
Beautiful!!!!! Wow!! I am blown away. Have you ever considered the Appalachian mountains for a trip? Beautiful mountains, waterfalls, and sunsets.
Yes! I just went in June!
I live in Portland OR.I really enjoyed your paintings of our beautiful coast.
Portland is a cool city! I’d love to spend more time there.
All beautiful!! Do you have tutorials on painting different rocks? As a beginner I tend to struggle with different Rock colors and textures, when to wet on wet, when to dry brush, when to glaze etc. Thx you
Yes, there are a few real time tutorials here on my channel!
Nice to see all your setups! What size is the Pochade box that you use? Your link to Blick shows small, medium and large. The side tray comes in two sizes, is yours the smaller one? Thanks for sharing. It's so nice that you and your sister share a love of painting.
It’s the 6x8 pochade box with 4x8” panels. :-)
You and your sister are so inspiring! You paintings are so good! I also want to ask where your lovely white hat is from. I love watching your videos!
You're so sweet! Thanks for the comment! My hat is from REI. :)
My son and his family live in Coos Bay, and now I'm even more inspired to try plein air next time I visit. So glad you enjoyed my home state!
The Blue Ridge mountains have amazing vistas...would love to see your interpretations.
Yay! I’m glad you feel inspired!
For your next trip I’d recommend Munising in northern Michigan. It’s a beautiful central location for Grand Island, Pictured Rocks, Tahquamanon Falls, Marquette, and Kitch-it’s-kipi springs
I love Oregon. It is my favorite place in the world. I got engaged on Canon Beach.
How wonderful and romantic!
Really enjoyed watching this and seeing the different set ups. Is Anna a twin sister?
Yes we are! ::)
come back to the pacific north west but head further north into Canada around the Vancouver area. We got great mountains, ocean, forest, and mystical surprises. There are parks and lakes and shore everywhere.
I love this!! And I love your “Art before Dishes” hat too! 😂 I need one of those!!
Your sister is brave for painting oils on the go like this! Mine would have been a complete mess by the time I got home! 😂 it would have been nice to see her share her work too!
I would like to start painting on my beach, but have a couple questions though.
How does your tripod hold up on the sand? I just bought one but didn’t even think about how it would hold up over time being used on the dry sand and I’m just afraid that sand will get into the legs stopping it from working properly. Does the sand ruin the legs being able to go up and down at all?
Also, I’m curious what you used as a tripod extension to attach to your tripod that holds your phone to record you working.
Thanks!!
Wow love all your paintings, what a great trip w your twin….thanks for sharing,
Enjoyed watching, thank you for sharing, great
It looks liked a artist paradise but then I am very lucky as a artist myself I live here in England on the edge of Dartmoor and love going out in the fresh air look forward to seeing more of your videos
I've only visited that lower Oregon coast once but would like to revisit. I attempted to paint the 'haystack rocks' no too successfully. I will have to review this video several times I think.
Does your sister have a RUclips channel?
Yes! www.youtube.com/@AnnaRoseBain
I am very interesting in your sister oil painting gears ,where I can find them?😅
Awesome
You have tried several different travel palettes this year, what is the one that lives in your travel bag :)
Great question! On my latest trip, I mostly used my Sennelier set of 12 half pans. I’ve added a couple additional paint colors to it, too.
@@EmilyOlsonArt Thank you, I meant to say easel Doh! So many to choose from and a big investment.
Thank you :)
I forgot to say, this is by far my favorite video of all. Love seeing you and your sister together sharing memories! That's what life is all about.
You are so sweet, Lori-Lynn!
Hello Emily, TYFS your twin painting trip with us! Letting your viewers in on your personal life is quite honorific for me! Such beautiful locations you chose. Absolutely beautiful paintings by you both, I'm going to check out your sister's site next. 😊
I agree, that's so cool that you have a twin! and she paints as well!
Thanks, Marika!
How scenic! It is smart to travel with someone to paint with. Thank you for sharing your set ups and paintings. :)
My pleasure!
Thank you so much for taking me on holiday with you. Thank you for sharing your work, I loved all of the paintings, by both of you. Very inspiring. Took my sketchbook to the sea today but it was difficult just to stand up! The south coast of England is very varied. Happy painting.
You are so welcome!
This makes me home sick. I'm an Oregonian who lived at the Oregon Coast for 15 years. I spent many days and hours all along Oregon shores, especially at Sunset Beach, west of Coos Bay. Did you see Botanical Gardens in Shore Acres state park at the old Simpson estate? I used to go there almost daily for quite a while. I didn't paint that entire time. What a shame. But I was a full time mother raising my 5 children. It warms my heart that you are taking this time with your sister, to travel and paint.
Love this! Raising 5 kids is no joke. Toughest, best job.
Beautiful and so detailed video (as always, I appreciate that)! Gorgeous landscapes and paintings!
4:12 was mesmerized by how you managed first washes of that painting and there you undelined my same exact feeling about it ;)
PS: how do you understand who is Emily between the two? Anna is left-handed ;) (great jobs by her too!)
Yep, very good observation! She’s a lefty and I’m a righty.
Next time to Oregon, go On a no moon night with the tide out and walk on the beach. The Fito plankton will give you a wonderful bio luminescent treat. Green lights come from the waves, and each foot step lights up with green light. It’s just magical 😊
Ok that sounds unreal! 😀🙌
when i went to oregon for a week (big dog show) the people we were staying with took us to the coast, really wish i had of had a camera, so many lovely scenes to try to capture
lovely paintings! great job with the driftwood texture on the beach 😀
Sounds like a good memory! You’ll have to go back again with your camera next time! 😉
Love your work ! We love the Oregon coast & I take my painting kit w/me. We are going to Gold Beach next week. Thank you for sharing 🙏
That’ll be wonderful! Enjoy!
❤️❤️❤️
I recommend Ireland as your next plein air trip. Use Paddywagon tours to travel from Dublin to the scenic areas. ‘They offer day trips and you can capture so much beauty.
Would LOVE to go there!!
Looks like a fun trip! Getting outside and painting is so great! Thanks for sharing your experience.
If course! It’s just fun. 😀
Fun!! My husband and I were in all the same areas, it's great to see you painting all the places we photographed. Your painting is always an inspiration, I've been learning since 2019, pandemic painting. 🥰❤❤
Good for you, Patti! 🙌
Amazing to see two sisters soooo talented! I love your videos! Great trip and memories you 2 had! I’d love to see a video of all the gear you packed for this trip. It seems that you tried a variety of stuff. Cheers from Brasil!
Thanks so much for watching!
I was at Cannon Beach 54 years ago. Your video and paintings brought back some special memories of that trip with my family that I haven't thought about in decades. I definitely need to go back. I do so enjoy watching you both paint (looking forward to more)!
Scott that is so sweet. Cannon Beach is just magical-I found myself wishing my kids were with me! You’ll have to visit there again soon! 🙌
Steve Hanks is my all-time fav watercolorist. I own one of his pieces. U created amazing pieces, thx for sharing
Oh what a treasure to have!!
This was sooo enjoyable! You've really inspired me to start experimenting with the DS PrimaTek paints. Would so love any tutorials on your membership site based on your reference photos from this trip. I'm new to plein air, and coastal landscapes are my ultimate painting joy.
That’s the hope! I need to bolster the landscape category a bit more! 😉🙌
What a gorgeous painting opportunity. I do love that pochade box setup. Seems really nice with enough of a footprint to lay out just what you need.
I like it a lot!
Lovely video, stunning locations and gorgeous paintings (both yours and Anna's)! Funny to see your twin is left handed 😊
Thanks, Chiara!
Such a beautiful painting trip. I'm envious. :) Love seeing all your tools and setups. Happy painting!
Thanks, Wendy!
what an incredible place to visit! It looked very deserted too. Was that just the places you picked or the angle of the camera?
We did tend to avoid popular areas, but I think the coast usually is busy with tourism.
I ordered the 6x8 pochade box but mine didn't come with the rubber band or the side panels I see you using in the set up of yours. What did I do wrong?
Unfortunately they are sold separately. 😔
What about mosquitoes? Do they exist there?
Wow! What a wonderful adventure, and beautiful artwork. Thank you for inviting us to come along.
Our pleasure!
Great work! Inspirational, instructive, and so entertaining! The best!
Thanks, Earl!
Thank you for taking me away. The Oregon coast is so beautiful. Love the twin trip.
❤️❤️❤️
You two look identical, but your sister is a leftie, so, not identical?
We are identical “mirror image” twins!
@@EmilyOlsonArt I actually wondered about that. I've heard of that - cool!
@@EmilyOlsonArt helped your parents and teachers, I'm sure!
I loved watching this adventure. I love my sister trips, so many great memories.
The best! 🙌
This looks like such a fun and inspirational trip. Thanks for sharing your paintings, they are all wonderful!
Thank you, Sonya!
Love your landscapes! Thank you for sharing your process.
You are so welcome!
Just beautiful! Never been to the Oregon coast, but this makes me want to go! So much natural beauty. Thank you for taking the time to make this video. I’m enjoying your channel very much. Just getting back into my art, mostly watercolor and gouache with occasional other media like colored pencil and acrylics.😊
There was a ton of stuff to like and learn from in this, and lots to inspo off of, including learning that Steve Hanks' paintings I've been drooling over for decades, are actually watercolors!! Your shared adventure was fun to watch, and you both created amazing artwork!! Yes, you posed in front of the sign, but it bears repeating. You Sisters Rock!!
Beautiful and inspiring❤❤❤
What brand of pencil do you use. I really like the larger grip area.
Just a mechanical pencil-not sure what brand…🤷♀️
I just got a plein air set up, I love the Oregon coast. I can't wait to go back and plein air! Thanks for sharing your adventure!
Amazing! Beautiful scenery! My suggestion for the next twin trip would be New England in the fall for some gorgeous colorful paintings!
Oh my goodness, that is actually where we’re hoping to go next! 🙌
You absolutely should, the fall colors are stunning!
Great video and beautiful paintings, thank you.
Thanks, Sam!
I love your videos it’s both educational and calming ❤
Thanks so much!
Oh how beautiful! You both could publish illustrated tour books!
Thanks, Maureen!
absolutley beautiful- thanks for sharing!
My pleasure!
How fun to have a twin sister to go plein air painting with :-).
It is! A good friend is all you need. 😉❤️
Beautiful
