Thank you very much for this upload. Most revelatory. Have always admired him, especially his Mozart, and believe him to be amongst the kindest, most decent and honourable people in the world of music. Remembering that his family lived in Thessaloniki, we shudder at the narrow escape they had: The Nazis invaded in the early 1940s and sent all Jewish people to be killed at Auschwitz. If the Perahia family hadn’t emigrated, we would not ever have known Murray.
My pleasure. Thank you for your touching and thoughtful comment. Murray is certainly a light for the world and his fellow musicians. We are lucky to have him.
I think what separates Murray P. for me from the rest of the crowd -- i never tire of his playing.....always interesting, full of unique colours and rubato....and it always holds together
Murray Perahia, a gifted musician, a great human being - as one have already mentioned, a poet of piano , I listen to his playing and feel great joy ! Thank You .
Murray Perahia's complete recording of the piano concertos with the English Chamber Orchestra has made a lasting difference to understanding of those works, without putting in the shade other greatly gifted pianists who have recorded them. ~John Rosselli, *The Life of Mozart*, Cambridge University Press, 1998, p. 165.
Miss jeanette Haien made an exciting recording of the Mozart Piano Concerto # 16, with the National Gallery Orchestra, on an old 10-inch record. I've always loved it.
I recollect vividly the recital he gave in Shanghai Grand Theatre in Oct2011. His playing of Schubert's Impromptu D899 Op90/3 in G-flat in encore is probably the best interpretation of this piece of work I've ever heard. Thanks for sharing this valuable documentary.
I was fortunate enough to receive his debut album, Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto, from the Voice of America way back in the early 70's.. remarkable pianist!
I have listened to Murray for years and when it comes to interpretation of Beethoven he is in my opinion the best. No to fast, not to slow and after listening to him play Beethoven I can't enjoy others.

Murray is one of the greats. His sense of pulse is extraordinary 🎶
Great to get an insight into the life of Murray Perahia. Love to see professionals loving Mozart. All the CDs I have of Mozart's music are by him.
Beautiful and very interesting. Great musician!
A wonderful biography with such a talented ,warm Murray & his wife!!!

I remember Murray well from P.S. 115 and JHS 22. He played at our assemblies and we were in awe. Destined for fame!
You should write about that. Just think back to the past and speak it on tape and then write it out and cut out things that are repetitive.
A wonderful pianist. He is also a great mentor to young pianists. There are many videos of his work working with young talent.
Thank you for posting. Our whole family loves this pianist! So lucky to see him perform in person. Paris in 2001 I lost
count of the the encores!
Such a great documentary. How nice to see a 4 year old child moving in music.
Very good camera work. Good sound too.
I've been looking for this video for a very long time. Thank you so much for uploading!

Charming documentary.....thanks for upload
his playing around the 24th minute really speaks to me, warms the heart. I dont know another pianist or artist who can achieve that.

This documentary is about M.Perahia. Why promoting someone elses work here. Not nice.
@@thepianocornertpc Jeanette Haien was Perahia's teacher, a fact that he mentions in this video. that is why I brought it up.

Oh, what a bliss. Спасибо Анечка. Буду слушать еще и еще.
So nice to see how much Murray and Ninette are love at 29:27 and 31:30! What a lovely portrait of one of the best and nicest pianists
Thanks for uploading. It's a treasure!
Great pianist especially that determination he showed in getting playing again after those issues with his hands.
A great great pianist
This is the Murray I remember from the NYC HS of Performing Arts.. (W. 46th in Manhattan) Already a virtuoso.
I was fortunate enough to receive his debut album, Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto, from the Voice of America way back in the early 70's.. remarkable pianist!
incredible documentary!!! thank u !!!!
So nice to see the young Murray! Is a big chance.
Thank you so much for this amazing documentary of my piano hero. Fascinating. I love it.

What is the piece this other pianist is playing starting at 33:52? What a wonderful piece!
Haha it sounds very Gregorian with all those fifths.
lol
Edit: Actually I'm going to go with Philip Glass
Прекрасный пианист! Моя главная находка! Послушайте его исполнения БАХА
His tone! So bell like. No wonder Horowitz accepted him.
I wonder if he still conducts
Amazing video and a great artist! Currently has 503 likes (just like the Mozart K 503) 😂
