I got the IUD as a young woman. Worst pain I have ever felt in my life, and I get VERY bad painful periods. And taking it out, it got caught on the flesh of one side. And because of all of that, I get to have painful ovarian cysts for the rest of my life. Women should be VERY careful when choosing the IUD
Because the medication needs to be dosed by weight but the medication is made for average range women’s weights. So if you fall outside that average the pharmaceutical company doesn’t make anything for your needs and you are SOL.
@@tcnance548 With levonorgestrel people can prevent a pregnancy when taken for up to 72 hours after unprotected sex. If you're above a certain weight, there's no telling how long they'll work. What everyone wants in this case is certainty, so you recommend them a medication (ulipristal) that can be taken 120 hours after unprotected sex. More of this medication does not mean it'll work better.
IUD's hurt though! They don't even give anesthetic when you ask for it, thinking it's not a big deal for women when it's one of the most painful procedures for women. Also, no, this doesn't help with aborting the budding pregnancy. We needed a list of medications, not just the one alternative.

Just a question, but why doesn’t it work over a certain weight?
Because the dosage will be too low. A lot of medication is adjusted by weight to make sure you don't get too little or too much.

@@AliciaCarsson I've heard that, but why can't you take a higher dose then?

I’ve always wondered the risks and benefits of doubling the plan b dose if you’re over the weight limit
