Don't spose you know a bloke called Dragan from Montenegro? Haha of course not. Accent similar to my ears, anyway he introduced me to Bull Arabs back when I was still using pitbulls for pigs. Cookie and Mojo are my favorite dogs ever, 1/2 as big again as a pit bull with NONE of the down side. You did forget LONGEVITY mine are 15 and 13 yr old and still keen to go. TA
I got a male bull arab at 1yr old. He took some training but he's possibly the sweetest dog I've ever had. So playful and gentle. So happy to please. I recommend the breed to anyone who has the time and patience to train them. Awesome dogs.
I own a bull arab x great dane and he was the sweetest boy ever. I've also had a lot of contact with other bull arabs and they have always had a beautiful and gentle nature. They're definitely one of my very favourite dog breeds.
Pepper my Bull Arab is 5yrs, she loves everybody, loves cuddles and is very gentle and obedient. I have to say it was a rough start for her, she was passed around between a couple of owners who didn't give her much of a chance before my daughter bought her home, So glad she did.
Amazing & under rated breed. Their funny & loving personality will make anyone fall in love with them. I’ve got a Bull Arab x Amstaff rescue and he is the best natured dog I’ve ever met. Such a funny goof yet very intelligent creature. A great companion
I have a 7 years old neutered, male Bull Arab X Australian Blue Cattle dog. I got him when he was 10 months old, from a neighbour who didn't want him anymore. She gave him to me, before she moved out. She kept her cats, so my dog was good with cats. He's a lovely, affectionate dog & he's a great guard dog. He loves me, my cats & my neighbours' 3 kids, (supervised by me), play with him, too ! He loves going to the beach & walking in the bush, behind my house, too ! ❤️🐶

It did take three months for us to be able pat her as an abandoned pup so I’m not sure of her exact history.
I have had one for 5 years we got from the pound when she was about half grown. She is extremely friendly and sensitive, loves saying hello to other Dogs and is fine around our Cats, never shows a single sign of aggression to anything other than birds Lizards and Mice and Rats. Inside the House she just finds somewhere she likes and sets up base, in the yard she likes a game of tug of war. Extremely smart too. A great Dog.
Our Bull Arab was rescued one year ago yesterday. While he has an unknown past and is quite nervous and anxious as well as being reactive to other dogs and unfamiliar men, he has proven to be a very sweet, highly intelligent animal who is responding extremely well to his training. I would never have considered this breed previously but am looking forward to the next one that we can save.
The loyalty of this breed cannot be understated. Life didn't start out well for my rescue and he remains very of men he doesn't know. When I 1st brought him home it took 3 hours before he was ready to get out of the car and come, despite my other dog encouraging him. But by that evening he was sleeping on top of me and he's been my shadow ever since. Such an amazing breed.
Great video but after owning bull arabs for 10 years, I disagree with no 8. they arent really high energy and love nothing more than to nap and snuggle you. they are extremely affectionate and are great family pets. As we say...Own a bull arb, they will steal your heart, your lounge and your bed😂😂
Thank you for making this video highlighting this amazing breed :) I have 2 Bull Arabs and they are the best companions, protectors and are just so wonderful.
I've owned a few dogs and I have to say my 4 month old bull arab is the smartest pup I've seen, he is very obedient and loyal and has perfected the list of easy commands already starting to move onto harder tricks, he is also the most affectionate dog I've had although he does have a bit of puppy nipping probably due to his teething but he knows not to bite hard if he does get over excited, all in all I'm looking forward to the future with this pup
Thanks for the video. I have a bull arab x staghound. We rescued her when she was 3 months old. She is 2.5 years old now, 44.5kg. She's lovely and very gentle with small dogs and small children.
I got a Bull Arab who's people never picked her up from the vet. She came in after being in a fight. after 8 weeks was still there. my dogs and cats love her. We call her Big Girl and she is 12. People back up when they first meet the old battle scarred girl but she soon wins them over.
I saw a bull arab for the first time at a citrus farm i was working on in South western Australia she came walking up to me and as a female she was a very big dog and she was an amazing specimen her temperament was gentle and loving and very inquisitive and did I say how good she looked She was the most beautiful dog I have ever seen in my life
We rescued our 3 year old Bull Arab female about a year ago. She instantly bonded with us and is one of the most affectionette dogs we have owned. She has bonded more with me although she likes attention from the other two in the household when I'm not available. Once she has had her daily walk in the park and breakfast she is happy to sleep most of the day. She's quite a couch potato but can also be hyper when the moments arise. When we got her she only seemed to know the 'sit' command but is great on a lead now and less reactive to other dogs in the park and street. She's a very fast learner. She's instinctively very social and a lot of fun.
Sounds wonderful, can you give us some training tips of being reactive to other dogs please , our girl is 17mths old 40kg and although friendly she lunges and barks at other dogs its worse in the car , she sounds extremely vicious, but she is wagging her tail . She also plays very ruff with our staffy Cross also a rescue, it was fine when she was a puppy , but now so big and strong she pigs him , grabbing his back leg , also his neck areas he as an older dog, and has told her off , but our Bully thinks he's playing ... we would love to let them off the lead together but we just can't... any tips would be appreciated, we are stating to think we may have taken on too much , may we also add we travel Australia in a caravan and she has 100% of our time and is exercised several times a day with long walks and swimming and running along the beach , every now and again we have an ok day , but some days we just want to give up .😔 We do use a halt which does help, but still is reactive.. Thanks for your time to read this 🙏
@@rozadams7808 I’ve only had my Bull Arab for a little while and she was a rescue pup with a bad start. Don’t panic too much at the reactive attitude to other dogs if they are roughly the same side or bigger. It freaked me out at first, but I’ve discovered it is mostly bluff. I step in front of her if she goes into protecc mode, and after a few minutes of letting her know she doesn’t need to - she’s always fine. It turns into playtime. She does play a bit rough though. BUT I was so I love with the breed by then I couldn't think of a better way to honour my first girl than by sharing that love with another. They are super intelligent, fun, playful, loving, loyal & downright adorable with the comical ear movements, they remind me of Charlie Chaplins eyebrows! However I do disagree a little with the activity status, my gals have an acre to play & that's all I find she requires, she will get the zoomies every now and then and runs around the house like an obstacle course thowing her latest stuffed toy in the air as she does... But I'm a night shift worker & she sleeps with me pretty much all during the day. I keep her topped with stuffed toys to prevent bordem when I'm not there. For a large dog, she curles up into the most amazing small ball but always beside me making some physical contact... my total snuggle bunny....this all happens while my old greyhound sniffs in disgust as she settles into her 'throne like bed'. My gals are spoilt rotton, my family BUT it took training, lots of it as the vid was right in saying they are strong willed & powerful, you need to have total control especially once they hit 30kg or more... I never let her forget I love her but I AM ALPHA.... oh and my old greyhound is the 'matriach'... She has been taught that from day 1 & we have no issues now. We have a Bull Arab x Am Staff but she definitely throws to the BA side - super intelligent and a true hunter, needs a job to do - luckily we have a small acerage where they chase the ball for at least 3o minutes every day!
Another popular cross is Bull Arub X Wolf Hound or Known as bull hounds. They are larger, faster and to strangers scarier but even more family orientated. Bull Arub's are very intelligent any good problem solvers.
I love them, and have a cross with Bull Masiff. This dog is 4yrs and a complete goof ball, and loving. His ears are sharp and can see ghosts. Hows that, as I see ghosts.
Bull Arabs hands down best dog! Ever since that trip to the pound, bull Arabs are my favourite dog (I've had a boxer and a red cattle Dog previously) I took smokey home and have been astounded by his obedience, athleticism and snuggles. I've had him for 10 years and just got another bull arab pup. As this video says, they need firm, loving training. The pup is 4 months old and can be slightly rebellious but with good training she will be a great dog just as most bull Arabs. At 8 weeks old I'd taught her to sit and stay before food, at 9 weeks she learnt high fives, at 12 weeks I could leave the room while she sat and waited without eating. That's one thing I believe this video missed and it's their high intelligence! Please be warned though!! From my little experience, it seems that hunting is just straight nature for them. A cat while the dog is off lead, means a chase. If your bush walking, he will chase the kangaroo and most likely catch it. This doesn't mean aggressive... He's never ever even snarled at another dog or person. Socialise and train it properly and there should be 0 issues with aggression. Smokey (older one) in his prime could catch a kangaroo, jump things twice the height of him and had extreme endurance. The pup is extremely agile also and at 4 months she is extremely smart at playfighting and uses unique tactics against smokey. If your thinking of getting a bull arab, just be prepared to spend ALOT of time training it well and you'll have a great dog! If you don't however.. you'll have a big. Muscular dog bred for hunting with social/territorial issues... Not the best mixture..
They are pretty robust in play- you have to make sure that they know you are the alpha, or at least above them in the pack, or it could get very difficult for you when they get big (as they are VERY big and strong as adults). Take them to off-leash parks to get some energy out. They need (controlled) walks. Make sure that you and everyone else in your family takes turns giving him food, so that he understands who is the one that he is dependent on. Make sure you walk out of the house first before them when you go walk. You start to eat before he does. And while it may be difficult (because they are cuddle bugs), give him his own place to lie in the family room and next to your bed - when they are allowed on the couches and sleep in your bed, they think of themselves as being equal and start looking to lead. If you allow them in bed or on the couch, it is as a treat. In only allow ours onto the bed as early morning snuggles after I let him out to wee. They learn so quickly, so they will learn "On your bed" quickly too.
Trust me it's worth it, I have 12month bull arab she has only just calmed down I'vebeen through everything you've gone through . They do settle down. Keep it occupied with lots of toys. The bitting does stop. What other trouble are you having?
Righto, while you are playing and he gets rough, gently but firmly grab the bottom jaw and allow the pups mouth to open, it will because he wants you to let go. Now, place your thumb on his tongue just at the point he can not retract it out from under ( so just about half way between front and back teeth) press down with your thumb emitting a vocal tone. Mine is a deep low grumble. Long explanation but should all be done in 2 to 3 seconds but "held" for as long as need up to about 15 seconds. You will know when he has given up because he will do a funny open open open thing the you let go. If he dosn't stop after that remove him from "play" (naughty spot) and repeat your tone. Puppy's teeth are very sharp and brittle. You will figure out how firm you need to be after about the third skin puncture, which sux of course, but you don't want to break teeth. BUT WHY would you go through all this..... because that vocal tone will work for the rest of your life with that dog. I am 50+ no one taught me that I learned it after owning a Bullterrier, a cattledog, two pit bulls and Cookie and Mojo, two very old Bull Arabs. Remember your TONE and love (when he gets it right) also works on bitches,...... but not females haha.
Perdy (in the video) herself was a rescue, they're a wonderful breed and great dogs to own 🥰 Thanks for including her and for making this informational video!
Not a bad dog, but if you want to see a really impressive breed, look at the American Pitbull. American Pitbulls are even stronger, more versatile, and tougher than the bull arab and are also great at hunting wild boar and taking on large game animals. Some people might not believe that since bull arabs are generally larger, but there's a reason that people who take part in strength sports like weight pulling and combat sports like wild boar baiting and dog combat choose American Pitbulls over bull arabs. When it comes to getting the job done, this breed is able to do more, go on for longer, and push itself further than any other breed. They were bred for hunting, farm work, and combat sports for things like wild boar hunting, catching out of control bulls, and bear baiting. While bull arabs seem to be more popular in Australia due to that being the place they originate, and American Pitbulls are banned from being imported to Australia, most other places around the world seem to favor the American Pitbull over the bull arab as a working dog.
My Bull Arb pup "bear" is a great dog. Beautiful nature and temperament, In saying that I do have the time to put into this highly energetic dog. However he did destroy my wife's spare set of glasses last night!. " Bear" certainly found out why I call her "she who must be obeyed" last night.
Great video mate. Although I think it should be noted a lot of the footage/pictures of dogs you used aren’t really a very good representation of what an arab should look like. A pedigree bull arab in my eyes should be between 30/45kg, predominantly white white usually brown or black spots sometimes brindle, yellow or brown eyes and a liver nose is preferred. The original breed was pretty even thirds, being bull terrier, German short haired pointer and grey hound.
Today, it is believed that the Bull Arab evolved by Bull Terrier, Greyhound and German Shorthaired Pointer. I did not found 100% clear answer about the breeds name origin, but in the past, many people believed that they have Saluki ancestry instead of English Greyhounds ancestry. And Saluki is arabic dog, so they have the name Arab. But as i said, i am not 100% sure about it, but i could not find any other theory about the breeds name origin.
@@RocadogThe name is complete bullshit from a snake oil salesman. They claimed their line had Saluki or Afghan hound, stating that they have long twitch nerves vs short twitch in Greyhounds. So his "line" has better endurance, it's all nonsense, and why aren't they all long haired?

Another popular cross is Bull Arub X Wolf Hound or Known as bull hounds. They are larger, faster and to strangers scarier but even more family orientated. Bull Arub's are very intelligent any good problem solvers.
👍👍
Great family dog needs a few boundary's but a real affectionate dog who just wants to be part of the family and played with love food love people.
:rorcaLike:👍
I love them, and have a cross with Bull Masiff. This dog is 4yrs and a complete goof ball, and loving. His ears are sharp and can see ghosts. Hows that, as I see ghosts.
They are a good guard dog at home i was supprised
👍👍
Thanks for a great comment
They're excellent hunting dogs and great pets, I highly recommend them.
👍👍
Im having a little trouble with my bull arab puppy nipping and playing very rough. Any pointers to help
I am glad you like the video! And you are great for rescuing!
Bull Arabs would be one of the most surrendered dogs in Australia along with staffys. I have a bull arab and a staffy 😂
👍👍
My uncle made the paulson bull arab basically a up grated version of the bull arab with better tracking and speed
If he is your uncle? He is full of shit.
No11. They will steal your socks when you are not looking, if you accept the challenge get them back.
😀😀
👍👍
They look like they have whippit in them
greyhound
@@skitzy2726 Or Saluki? Hence the word "Arab"?
@@mikezog1030That is a load of crap that someone spruked, to make their "line" seem better, can't remember who know, don't care any more.
@@adrianzmajla4844 well you have to wonder about why the word arab was used to describe the whole breed?
Great video mate. Although I think it should be noted a lot of the footage/pictures of dogs you used aren’t really a very good representation of what an arab should look like. A pedigree bull arab in my eyes should be between 30/45kg, predominantly white white usually brown or black spots sometimes brindle, yellow or brown eyes and a liver nose is preferred. The original breed was pretty even thirds, being bull terrier, German short haired pointer and grey hound.
I thought they're called bull arabs cuz their origin are from saudi arabia...why not called bull australians?
Today, it is believed that the Bull Arab evolved by Bull Terrier, Greyhound and German Shorthaired Pointer. I did not found 100% clear answer about the breeds name origin, but in the past, many people believed that they have Saluki ancestry instead of English Greyhounds ancestry. And Saluki is arabic dog, so they have the name Arab. But as i said, i am not 100% sure about it, but i could not find any other theory about the breeds name origin.
@@Rocadog yeah the word Saluki is the common name for dogs in saudi arabia
@@RocadogThe name is complete bullshit from a snake oil salesman. They claimed their line had Saluki or Afghan hound, stating that they have long twitch nerves vs short twitch in Greyhounds. So his "line" has better endurance, it's all nonsense, and why aren't they all long haired?
dead set thought you were going to be indian
Thank fuck someone said that it's not the breed but the leader, I've never had such a hilarious goofball breed and don't think I'll have any different
You forgot they are very smart...lol...m
👍👍
Barking
Plus the girls aren't soo much bracher
Maybe it's my fault....
the bull Arab is almost as cool as this guys accent.
Cool dog but the name sounds stupid.
@Kurupt Force It came from the original breeding - the breeding may have included a middle eastern hunting dog called a Saluki, hence the name arab.
@Kurupt Force Who was saying that? Not me! Just look up the Bull Arab breed and it tells you how they were originally bred. Not rocket science mate.
@Kurupt Force My family does nothing of the sort. You don't read very well. Just look it up. animalsadda.com/bull-arab-facts-pictures-puppies-temperament-breeders/
@Kurupt Force Never did
It is stupid! Just like the people who named it, snake oil salesman.
