That one story about the guy’s girlfriend who disappeared with the super religious and controlling parents sounds like a tragic case of an arranged marriage. She most likely told them something about hooking up with a boy, so they quickly set her up with an arranged marriage outside the country to “fix” her (which sadly happens sometimes in certain religious communities). It would explain why they moved her stuff out of her apartment and why she claimed to be in Switzerland. Her dad claiming he didn’t have a daughter was probably his way of expressing his resentment for his daughter’s actions, and also to act as a deterrent to stop him from pursuing her further.
It sounds like the case I saw on deadly women the mother and father killed their doctor daughter after the told her to stop acting like a modern assimilated American girl and dating American men and when she didn’t they smothered and stabbed her to death , then they moved her stuff out of her house and pretended like she moved away to family and never existed to others ,

The Jodi Arias case was disturbing. Crazy what some people's logic is like. When she said something along the lines of "all my ex boyfriends are still alive" insinuating there's is no reason why she would have killed Travis. Sick.
When you started talking about Jodi I thought to myself "hey, I know that name." I remembered seeing her interrogation broken down on JCS. Great story. 👍
I will throw it out there, Let's Read is the best on YT. His stories are always good and you have hours of the stories. He is a perfect narrator and he deserves recognition as King. Keep up the good work LR. My family and I listen to you every night 🤘
To the person in the story at 1:16:10 who was only twelve years old at the time of the story, you were one BRAVE KID! The fact that you went straight for the shotgun, even though it wasn’t loaded, and went to clear your home when you thought someone had just broken in, you were more brave than 99.9% of any twelve year old kid home alone in that situation! Honestly, you were more brave than MOST adults would be in that situation! I hope you pass this bravery onto your kids (or future kids!). I am a Texan who was shown how to use a gun at a very young age, which included gun safety. I passed this knowledge to my three kids who have never feared being home alone either! Sometimes I have to watch the videos at lease 3 times! If I'm sleepy, I hear Joel's soothing voice and have to fight to stay awake to hear the first story at least (then the next night I start where I left off )

As an avid follower of yours and a serious fan of ASMR, I have no clue what makes this different from your other content in terms of ASMR, but I'm still glad you posted it. :) P.S. You know you're a true crime fanatic when all it takes is for you to hear the victim's name and you recognize the entire case behind it.
I kid you not, I LITERALLY just got done listening to a documentary about Jodi and Travis before clicking this video. The case really fascinated me, and I never knew that Let’s read doing the Jodi Arias story was the crossover that I never asked for, but never knew that I needed!! Thanks again for posting!!
The story of the Arab girl was so upsetting, coming from a Muslim background myself I understood that so well… I’ve heard too many stories of girls just conveniently “going back home” and disappearing … she’s definitely dead. It’s so sad.
If you feel up to it, search the name "Nabeel Qureshi." That's a good example of what happens when the pursued party is not killed. They expose the hypocrisy of traditional Islam. Nabeel converted to Christianity after a long and painful journey of faith to Allah. His faith eventually led him to Jesus. The only religion who decides to treat all with love, even the sinners, blasphemers and deserters. I am also a convert, and I urge you to give Nabeel a listen.

I'm always excited for your long videos. these always get me. I listen to them over and over. I might not hear every story until the third or fourth go, but I let them play for bedtime. You unquestionably have the SMOOTHEST voice in this genre and all others imo! I really love the true-crime stories you must very diligently put a lot of time and effort into researching all the facts of each case. I also genuinely enjoy the true stories you carefully choose in which your Subscribers send in. You know how to pick the best! I tend to stray away from Horror Narrators who will narrate “any” Subscriber story sent in to them… Many of them are very obviously made up OR are not even slightly creepy in any fashion of the sense! My husband is not a fan of listening to disturbing things while trying to sleep (it's not for everyone, tbf), but I can't sleep comfortably without Joel's voice - I've been sleeping to it for over 3 years. I told hubs that he could read the phone book and it would probably calm me down, and he told me to request him doing that, instead. Lol
WARNING!! Please do not! Listen to this video or any other video while driving or operating heavy equipment! Joel’s voice is sure to put you into a comma from his amazing relaxing and soothing voice 😆 he is definitely my go to if I’m having trouble falling asleep , I hardly EVER make it through even the first story before I fall asleep 😴

Damn not too scary like typical scary but still scary in suicides, shunning, revenge, and all other kinds of mentally scary that fucks peoples lives up. Just food for thought.
I have severe anxiety, depression, and ptsd and this is the only thing that will help me sleep. I’m not sure I’ll ever get to experience that full, 8 hours a night without being medicated lol but im definitely grateful for the 3/4 I get since listening! it’s a definite upgrade from 0-2 I’ve been so used to! I’ve read through some of the comments and it seems a lot of us listen for sleep or to just calm down through the day. So thank you, for those few hours of sleep I’m now able to enjoy and the entertaining stories I get to listen to before hand! you’re definitely appreciated ❤️
Bipolar 2, generalized anxiety disorder, and PTSD here - IDK what it is about his voice and the way he tells stories (a good portion of which are true crime and should, by default, cause all 3 of my disorders to activate), but they calm my soul enough to sleep peacefully.

OG subbie here! I was one of the first 50 to get chilling lol I have the poster with Dane autograph it was dope! I have it hanging on my wall. I typically listen to chilling when I’m napping (pregnant with my first kid at 32 and 17 weeks tommorow) so I listen to new releases all the time with no ads but after I’ve heard all of them this is why I come here haha hello Joel!
I mean he seemed to jump to the fact she slowly started ignoring him to be an invitation to invade their privacy. I'd understand if she suddenly vanished but the fact she was slowing it down before hand that she didnt want his contact. I'd say there is a chance of it being an arranged marriage mostly. But the odds of him being a possessive stalker is higher in my mind than honour killing that some in the comments seem to suggest.
It doesn't sound like that. He wasn't stalking her. He didn't read her messages. he didn't broke into her social accounts. He didn't follow her. It is more likely she got married of her or she got slayed by her family. Such things are unfortunatly very very common in those cultural cicles.

How DOES he make these stories for sleep? I’m 39 weeks pregnant and practiced hypnobirth techniques. Basically teaching my body to relax. Nothing works better for me than these stories!! They put me right to sleep and chill me out. How??
I love it. At first I wasn't sure what the difference was when I saw ASMR. But I think the difference is you have sound playing in the background while you talk. You don't normally have that. I think it's nice.
What’s scary is that I’m doing a research paper for my csi class on Jodi I just put this on to fall asleep to and was thinking about it before I started to play this and then you started talking about her I cannot escape her! I had not even a clue you were going to talk about her but it for real spooked me
The story from that 70 yr old dude was very eerie but the coolest part about it was how rational he is about what it could be. He reminds me of my grandpa.
Oddly unrelated but fits in is the story of one night about 5-6 years ago. It was me, my then teen daughter and our three dogs. The dogs slept with me so I always felt a little safer...anyways one night I dreamed that someone broke into our house and I was grappling with this person (male) so I could protect my daughter and in my dream the guy got a good stab in my chest. I woke up straight up in bed grabbing the spot that I dreamed was where I got stabbed. It scared me so much that grabbed my one small dog who was my best friend and covered us both. I couldn't catch my breath. That's the first time I ever woke like that. I've never been stabbed and don't know exactly how it would feel, though my mind seems to have an idea. I will never forget how scared I was and had trouble relaxing to go back to sleep. I literally his under my covers like a child.

I listen to these at night on auto play, so it’s still playing when I wake up. These stories are so good that it’s now 11 am and I’m still rockin with it.
Some minor corrections to the first story, Travis was murdered on June 4th, not earlier. The house was his, no apartments. He was found in the shower of the master bathroom, not the bathtub.
I love that I was able to find his Spotify podcast, I’m able to listen far more on there than I am on here. So I’m very thankful for it. I was just listening in on his stream, he seems so friendly and he’s very interactive. My all time favorite scary story RUclipsr 💙
Story #2: That guy basically stalked his ex-girlfriend. He really dragged it and he should've just let it go. There's a possibility something morbid may have happened or she was just married off and sent away.

#1:41:50 the nurse in the hospital with the patient and the kid bothering him - I worked assisted living, graveyard shift, by myself. I had a dementia patient who called me in to her room. She said there was a little boy in a yellow raincoat keeping her awake and she wanted me to get him out of her room. Without thinking, I said, "okay little boy come with me and let "?" get some sleep. Not another word from her that night. Fast forward 3 years and I'm no longer working there. One day a friend came over to visit, but I wasn't home so she left. I saw her later that night and she proceeded to tell me that as she was leaving my house earlier, she glanced down the hallway and she swore she saw a little boy in a yellow raincoat - but he was transparent. I got chills!!!! I hadn't told her about the incident at the facility. I freaked out. I guess when I told him to come with me, he took it literally and was with me 3 years later. I told him he needed to go to the light. I hope he did. I haven't had any incidents with him since, and that was 20 years ago.
That one about the dmz is a repeat , literally only know this because I’m an obsessive listener , I work a 9-5 so I listen to hours of your content everyday, actually I have to scroll for quite about down your channel under the videos section to even find a video I haven’t watched before or maybe I’ll get lucky and find one I didn’t finish
Lately the loneliness has been really getting to me it’s so hard to feel okay and I feel so blessed at the same time but I can’t open up to my own people and it’s eating me up from the inside I want everyone to be in a good place and it drives me crazy I’m so lonely and scared that my body is ruined and I can’t be around alcohol anymore and I’ve known this for years but somehow it doesn’t stick

Ur stories are the the only thing I can literally go to sleep to. I’ve tried to listen to other narrators but their voices aren’t quite right & just don’t do it for me. If I need to sleep I choose a playlist, turn down my brightness, turn down the volume, lay my phone next to me, start listening & concentrating on what ur saying & I usually don’t make it past the 1st or 2nd story & I’m out! Pls don’t ever leave us! 😂

I might not hear every story until the third or fourth go, but I let them play for bedtime. I can't even say how many times I've had you on repeat or hit the same compilation over and over. Deep Woods and Park Ranger stories are my favorite.

Hey Joel! I just wanted to let you know how much I absolutely love the direction you have taken your channel in, you are definitely a very talented and unique “Horror Narrator”. You unquestionably have the SMOOTHEST voice in this genre and all others imo! I really love the true-crime stories you must very diligently put a lot of time and effort into researching all the facts of each case. I also genuinely enjoy the true stories you carefully choose in which your Subscribers send in. You know how to pick the best! I tend to stray away from Horror Narrators who will narrate “any” Subscriber story sent in to them… Many of them are very obviously made up OR are not even slightly creepy in any fashion of the sense! Again, thank you SO MUCH for every narration video/podcast you upload for your Subscribers! We love and appreciate you more than you could ever imagine Joel! I hope that you and your loved ones are staying happy, healthy and COVID free! 😁

My husband is not a fan of listening to disturbing things while trying to sleep (it's not for everyone, tbf), but I can't sleep comfortably without Joel's voice - I've been sleeping to it for over 3 years. I told hubs that he could read the phone book and it would probably calm me down, and he told me to request him doing that, instead. Lol
You definitely make my cleaning routine so much more bearable! Although, it does make my heart race while in my laundry room 🥺

The background ambient creepy sounds and synths help very much. Love it! A+++ P.S. Do you have plans for a Jehovah Witness Scary stories? Damn not too scary like typical scary but still scary in suicides, shunning, revenge, and all other kinds of mentally scary that fucks peoples lives up. Just food for thought.

I have severe anxiety, depression, and ptsd and this is the only thing that will help me sleep. I’m not sure I’ll ever get to experience that full, 8 hours a night without being medicated lol but im definitely grateful for the 3/4 I get since listening! it’s a definite upgrade from 0-2 I’ve been so used to! I’ve read through some of the comments and it seems a lot of us listen for sleep or to just calm down through the day.

Bipolar 2, generalized anxiety disorder, and PTSD here - IDK what it is about his voice and the way he tells stories (a good portion of which are true crime and should, by default, cause all 3 of my disorders to activate), but they calm my soul enough to sleep peacefully.

I typically listen to chilling when I’m napping (pregnant with my first kid at 32 and 17 weeks tommorow) so I listen to new releases all the time with no ads but after I’ve heard all of them this is why I come here haha hello Joel!

If her parents were the very old fashioned, fiercely strict and tough as nails, that fool's meddling possibly got her slayed.
I mean he seemed to jump to the fact she slowly started ignoring him to be an invitation to invade their privacy. I'd understand if she suddenly vanished but the fact she was slowing it down before hand that she didnt want his contact. I'd say there is a chance of it being an arranged marriage mostly. But the odds of him being a possessive stalker is higher in my mind than honour killing that some in the comments seem to suggest.
It doesn't sound like that. He wasn't stalking her. He didn't read her messages. he didn't broke into her social accounts. He didn't follow her.
It is more likely she got married of her or she got slayed by her family. Such things are unfortunatly very very common in those cultural cicles.

I love it. At first I wasn't sure what the difference was when I saw ASMR. But I think the difference is you have sound playing in the background while you talk. You don't normally have that. I think it's nice.

The story from that 70 yr old dude was very eerie but the coolest part about it was how rational he is about what it could be. He reminds me of my grandpa.

Oddly unrelated but fits in is the story of one night about 5-6 years ago. It was me, my then teen daughter and our three dogs. The dogs slept with me so I always felt a little safer...anyways one night I dreamed that someone broke into our house and I was grappling with this person (male) so I could protect my daughter and in my dream the guy got a good stab in my chest. I woke up straight up in bed grabbing the spot that I dreamed was where I got stabbed. It scared me so much that grabbed my one small dog who was my best friend and covered us both. I couldn't catch my breath. That's the first time I ever woke like that. I've never been stabbed and don't know exactly how it would feel, though my mind seems to have an idea. I will never forget how scared I was and had trouble relaxing to go back to sleep. I literally his under my covers like a child.

Some minor corrections to the first story, Travis was murdered on June 4th, not earlier. The house was his, no apartments. He was found in the shower of the master bathroom, not the bathtub.
I love that I was able to find his Spotify podcast, I’m able to listen far more on there than I am on here. So I’m very thankful for it. I was just listening in on his stream, he seems so friendly and he’s very interactive. My all time favorite scary story RUclipsr 💙

#1:41:50 the nurse in the hospital with the patient and the kid bothering him - I worked assisted living, graveyard shift, by myself. I had a dementia patient who called me in to her room. She said there was a little boy in a yellow raincoat keeping her awake and she wanted me to get him out of her room. Without thinking, I said, "okay little boy come with me and let "?" get some sleep. Not another word from her that night. Fast forward 3 years and I'm no longer working there. One day a friend came over to visit, but I wasn't home so she left. I saw her later that night and she proceeded to tell me that as she was leaving my house earlier, she glanced down the hallway and she swore she saw a little boy in a yellow raincoat - but he was transparent. I got chills!!!! I hadn't told her about the incident at the facility. I freaked out. I guess when I told him to come with me, he took it literally and was with me 3 years later. I told him he needed to go to the light. I hope he did. I haven't had any incidents with him since, and that was 20 years ago.

Lately the loneliness has been really getting to me it’s so hard to feel okay and I feel so blessed at the same time but I can’t open up to my own people and it’s eating me up from the inside I want everyone to be in a good place and it drives me crazy I’m so lonely and scared that my body is ruined and I can’t be around alcohol anymore and I’ve known this for years but somehow it doesn’t stick
