I bought my Colt Mark lV series 70 in .45 acp brand new in 1980 for $311.12 cents and still carry it to this day. The only thing ive had to do to it after all these decades is replace the extractor which i did about five years ago with a Wilson Combat bullet proof extractor. This magnificent handgun still shoots like a champ and i will never get rid of it. ❤

Beautiful Series 70! I prefer the arched mainspring housing and the thin trigger profile as well. 👍🏻

Good vid! I bought a N.O.S. (still had the factory tag on the trigger guard!) G.C. - N.M. Mk IV, Series 70 last year, (w/ the flat-top, & Elliason rear sights) thinking it'd have the collet bushing, but it did not. So I found a collet bushing online, & installed it. I think I could tell it holds a tighter grip around the muzzle, good, but at my age (69), it doesn't really improve my accuracy all that much... 😆 But, I'll keep it on the gun regardless...

Beautiful series 70! I kept my collet bushing in too, otherwise it wouldn't be a series 70 anymore it'd just be a regular old 1911

I am picking up a 1973 series 70 next week. Could you do a field strip video? I can’t seem to find any videos showing how to field strip the gun on the model 70s with the collet bushing.

Hi there I always wanted to one of these original Mkiv series 70. Especially in 38 super but in 38 super are extremely expensive…I recently found one in gunbroker chamber in 45 Mngf 1977 but the pictures doesn’t show much Just talk to the owner and says is in excellent condition. My question is. How much are they going for. Is cause I don’t wanna over paid

To be fair. When people speak of a series 70. They aren’t necessarily, nor likely speaking of this particular pistol release. They are simply referring to any 1911 with non series 80 internals. Vintage or brand new bought yesterday…. If it’s got non series 80 internals? It’s a series 70.
Obviously, as we all know. Most prefer the trigger system of the “series 70”. Meaning what’s explained above.
I’m not sure that this particular issue pistol really has the huge fan base eluded to here.
    Though they are great pistols.
