Braum’s is a total pro. They actually have stores/restaurants within a 6 hr drive of their Tuttle Farm. The SE part of OK is beautiful. I’m from the area originally, I wouldn’t recommend moving their unless you only care about church gatherings as your main form of entertainment though.
it does snow occasionally in Okla. the seasons/weather here is a bit bi-polar...(to say the least ;) )......i was born here in Okla., and have lived here 64 of my 66yrs. life. eastern Okla. is very different from central & western Okla. eastern, is quite lush and green... very "southern-ish" , central Okla. looks very mid-western/south western...........and western Okla . looks like a set from a "spaghetti western"......and every part has it's own beauty.
As a nativeOklahoman the best advice I’m gonna give anyone is if you’re coming from out of state and are wanting to live the Oklahoma way you’re more than welcome to embrace in the culture be a cowboy you name it but do not try to change our way or culture.m
Regarding Passenger Rail options in Oklahoma: I have taken AMTRAK between Norman, OK and KCMO and between Norman, OK and Naperville, IL near Chicago. The portion of the trip between Norman and OKC is on The Heartland Flyer and the portion of the trip between the OKC Sante Fe station on EK Gaylord in OKC and Newton Kansas is on a coach bus dedicated to AMTRAK with only 1 intermediate stop in Wichita. The remainder of the trip between Newton Kansas and your ultimate destination which in my case was on The Southwest Chief #4 East bound (to KCMO or Naperville) or The Southwest Chief #3 West bound (from Naperville or KCMO to Newton Kansas). The Southwest Chief long distance intercity passenger train runs between LA and Chicago). Unfortunately there isn't a passenger train between OKC and Tulsa yet which at one point was going to be called the Eastern Flyer and the present Tulsa Mayor hasn't been supportive of it preferring instead to look ahead at driverless car technology than a mass mover of people like passenger rail. I don't know too many people who are likely to afford a driverless car in the near future either and especially for solving a mass transit capability. You have more room to stretch out on a train than on a bus or plane. There is a more positive FB article about taking the Heartland Flyer AMTRAK train between OKC and Fort Worth where there are further rail connections including Dallas, DFW Airport, and even the Texas Eagle long distance train. This can avoid the stress of driving in the DFW area and the tolls too that you're subsequently billed for. - facebook.com/groups/HeartlandFlyer/permalink/10157685752291921/ The most knowledgeable person about passenger rail information is Evan Stair and you can find some of his FB posts at the following two FB groups. - Friends of the Heartland Flyer - facebook.com/groups/HeartlandFlyer/ and Friends of the Southwest Chief - facebook.com/groups/25567124972 Unfortunately, the Southwest Chief schedules are thrice weekly during COVID but am hopeful for a return to daily scheduling at some point and hopefully a return to Chef prepared meals to order in its dining car again too. The Southwest Chief does have sleeping car(s) with bedroom roomettes (up to 2 people), bedrooms, and family bedrooms. You would want to try to book well in advance if you want a bedroom. AMTRAK sometimes offers discounts on their bedroom rooomettes which might make it worthwhile for couples traveling together. It's my understanding that the prices for booking a bedroom include dining car meals (exceopt alcoholic beverages) but right now the dining car meals are reheated like on an airline as opposed to chef prepared to order. I don't know if/when there might be a return to chef prepared to order meals off of a menu in the dining car and it's a major benefit to traveling on the long distance trains and in booking a bedroom on the train. There is an effort underway to extend the northern terminus of the Heartland Flyer from OKC to Newton Kansas. If/when that happens, it could add stops in Edmond, Guthrie, Perry, and Ponca City in Oklahoma and Arkansas City, Wichita, and Newton in Kansas. I was born in Norman, and grew up in Weatherford.
Uh -- it most definitely snows in Oklahoma, (wherever she got that it doesn't is crazy wrong) but it's the ice that is the big problem in winter. Snow you can drive on, but it doesn't matter how many wheels you've got connected to the engine - none of them will get any traction on ice - and Oklahoma has plenty of it every year. Fall, IMO, is the absolute best season in Oklahoma - nice and mild - not either hot or cold as she claims here. Spring is quite beautiful too, but definitely the "change" season - being the most active tornado part of the year -- but tornadoes occur in the fall too - when the seasons are changing - as it's strong cold and warm fronts colliding with each other that create the violent things. Summer is quite nice, until the middle of July, and from there its a blast furnace for the next 45 days or so, which is why it would be very difficult to find anyone without AC in Oklahoma. Also; Braum's dairy farms and the independent dairy farms where they get their milk do NOT milk the cows by hand - (I hate it when someone implies Oklahoma is a backward state - as she did with the hand-milking thing) - it's all done very efficiently with milking machines that are much less bothersome to the cow than someone doing it by hand. Since most people in the entire USA spend most of their leisure time in front of the TV or on the computer, you can do that too in Oklahoma with all the same cable programming, etc, etc. So, along with plenty of movie theaters, common US entertainment is also quite common in Oklahoma - absolutely no different than anywhere else. And, she didn't mention the food - but Oklahomans KNOW their food - and there's every imaginable type of food available in most areas. Some of the best restaurants I have ever been in -- and I've been all over the US - has been in Oklahoma. So there's that too. Oklahoma is a great place to live, BUT -- it's definitely NOT for everyone -- AND - most Oklahomans would rather everyone just stay wherever they are, and leave Oklahoma exactly as the born-n-raised have come to know and love it.
Crazy Marine Piedmont is great! Good access to the city and make sure to look up the schools! You can email me at Marciebillen@kw.com if you have more questions!
Sitting on the porch watching a tornado is probably something I would do because I used to watch lightning from my porch in Northern Arizona during monsoon season. I've never seen a tornado, but have seen a few water spouts off the coast of SoCal though. Thanks for all the info on Oklahoma.
@@okrealtor Thanks for posting this video. I've been looking at property in Southeastern Oklahoma, and am intrigued by the beautiful country out there. I'm a SoCal boy, but lived in rural Arizona for years and ended up moving back to San Diego to look after my mom. After living in the country for many years, the city just absolutely sucks. It's extremely expensive to live here, and I cannot stand the politics in California. I probably align more politically, morally, etc. with people in Oklahoma if you know what I mean. By the way, I've heard that there's Ponderosa Pine forests in the panhandle of OK.
John Kickass I’m actually not sure about the ponderosa pines, I havent spent any time in the panhandle. Please let me know if you have any other questions!
We are buying some property in Weleetka It seems real nice. I am originally from Texas too hot and muggy, lived in Seaside Oregon for a while and now in Washington state for finishing my working years. All the land is ridiculously expensive in these places other than, Oklahoma. My wife and the small live stock collection awaits me there. I love farming where it rains just right so far. And not -40 degrees like Minnesota. Thank you.
I didn’t know there were any pros. You learn something every day. Just kidding… Great sports? Absolutely - golf, pinochle, tennis, bowling, bocce ball, checkers, tipping cows. Can’t wait!!!

My husband got a job offer from one of his friends to make $50k a year, so that would help us a lot, we live in western Nebraska, but it kind of makes me optimistic when you said it doesnt snow, but the tornadoes do scare me though but interesting video
That’s fantastic! Yes it doesn’t snow, especially anything like what you’ve got in Nebraska. You may want to watch my “weather in oklahoma” video, I have a meteorologist on that one
Seriously all my life Oklahoma as a state has struggled to get it's act together, all in the shadow of Texas which definitely has it's act together, which is why Oklahoma has only been growing perhaps 1% year to year, businesses and people are constantly moving down to Texas...but Oklahoma is not alone, every state that borders Texas suffers from this, everything is centered in Texas and surrounding states are just standing still. I don't see this changing in Oklahoma too soon, the character of the state is, good enuff...which is why the state is the state that it's in...
"one or two days in the fall are nice" I live here. That is not accurate. Fall in most of Oklahoma is beautiful. Most days mid Sept to through mid Nov are nice to get out in.
In the process of buying land from Sky River Properties LLC, they are out of Texas... We are hoping to close on this land in Latimer County today....Fingers Crossed!!!
Lived in ok my whole life the high humidity and heat makes summers miserable I would use a different analogy though imagine someone has just taken a really hot shower in a tiny bathroom that’s what outside feels like all the time you almost feel like you should hold your breath because your brain half thinks it’s underwater it does snow but normally melts quickly turning the ground to sludge falls are great I’d say not cold between mid September and mid October we normally get a perfect 30 days of no air or heater needed great grilling weather springs are rainy as the Amazon but normally not hot like summer so it’s pleasant if you don’t mind getting wet tornadoes aren’t terrible like most think they cut very thin swaths of destruction and with Oklahoma population so spread out it’s rare for anything to get destroyed and when it does it’s normally just minor/severe roof dmg I’d be way more worried about hurricanes wildfires and earthquakes
@@shanegrace795 ultimately yes. It has great people and great scenery. There are some downsides and there are some people who seem dodgy you want to avoid at times but it is never overwhelming, the whole of Claremore is a beautiful and very safe place
I live in the ugliest town in America and i am looking for cooler weather and water. It’s called bullhead city Arizona. I am looking for a house, because thanks to California everything is so expensive in Vegas and Phoenix. 1,900 for a house payment 😩 I think i will check out Texas. I enjoyed your video
Most of the towns on Grand Lake are pretty good. Most people go to Grove because they have more things to do on the water and they have some cliffs you can jump from. The town northwest of Grove called Miami isn't too bad either but no lake that i know of. The towns around Eufaula lake to the south is really good too. Grove is considered the midwest while Eufaula starts the south. Oklahoma has 3 regions: Midwest, West, and the South. You can have desert like to the west, prairies, and mountains, foothills of the Ozarks, or big hills. State has alot to offer and is pretty affordable for housing and property taxes. Depending on the area, people seem to be very nice in most places. Oklahoma is very conservative, they do have a liberal stand your ground law and a conservative open carry. Very red state except for areas like Tulsa etc. Which isn't a bad thing! You will also see waterfalls like in Pawhuska to the north in the prairie and Davis to the south. Many waterfalls all over. The weather in most of the state can change alot with little to no warning. This video didn't mention the bad ice storms. I prefer the east side of the state by Arkansas because of the Ozarks and less tornadoes etc. Arkansas has its own beauty. Like northwest Arkansas (NWA). Fayetteville has alot going on. Home of the Razorbacks, can drink alcohol outside on the sidewalks, bike fest, many lakes near by, and Christmas time is beautiful. Hot Springs to the south isn't bad either. They have free spring water you can drink once it cools down. Mountain Valley Spring water is located there (that's what Elvis Presley drank lol). One of the best water you can drink. It used to be in a green glass bottle. You can live over the border in Oklahoma because homes seem to he a tad cheaper and work in Arkansas because they seem to pay alittle more. Sorry for the long post. Hope you got some knowledge of the areas.
David Holmes4 hi David! It’s so funny you asked that because that’s exactly what my video this week is about. If you shoot me an email at marciebillen@kw.com I can give you a little intro to some of the cities
East Broken Arrow is my choice although Jenks and Owasso have good schools. The weather can get crazy but we have 4 seasons Fall being the nicest. The big plus is the cost of living. Downtown Tulsa has some very nice parks(gathering place) and entertainment.
I forgot to mention that you need to be very careful of local flooding. Stay away from the innocent looking creeks as your rental or home you bought can flood.
I’d say Oklahoma is Southern. I’m from Texas and I’ve always considered Oklahoma a Southern state. You’re south of the Mason Dixon Line so you’re Southern in my book lol ETA: Fort Worth has a bus system and a local Amtrak around DFW itself. Also Uber is readily available here.
Nice video. 60 years old with my 32 year-old wife and two toddlers. I'm a Caucasian guy married to a Filipina. If I move to Oklahoma do you expect we would have any kind of social problems? We're a little worried because we don't know anybody there but we've heard good things about the state in general. Looking for a place to raise our kids that's good.
I'm thinking of moving to OK as well. Hopefully sometime soon. I'm a white guy married to a Mexican and we have 2 kids. I wouldn't worry about it at all. My only concerns are finding a good job and new place to live. We're currently in Indiana. I've experienced social prejudice here from both sides right here in Indiana.
Do you guys have plorps down there? Nothing better then a nice big juicy plorp on a hot summers day! Takes me back to my 50's when I had enough men take charge and deploy the old ones. Good times
I was looking for a small towns or country towns very small population can you make a video of different area there a home for sale jay oklahoma is there a airport you can fly into
Yes Jay, Oklahoma, and others around it are very affordable…unfortunately that one is not too near where I currently work but I’ve been a few times. The airport you would use is Tulsa
Dallas like the rest of texas is an extremely corrupt city that is one of the reasons I want to leave and am looking to move to Oklahoma. I can't say to much about OKC the only real advantage Dallas has over OKC is that DFW is a great deal bigger and has more of offer in the way of entertainment and job options.
I have a question. Is it safe like what’s the crime rate in different parts. Do all houses have like a place for protection for the tornados, I really need to know because we might move there
Katherine Arce as far as crime rates, the best way to find that is a google search. For weather and tornado, about 50% of existing homes have a storm shelter. The cost to install them is anywhere from $3000 to $10,000 and there are many different kinds and companies. This video may help you also: ruclips.net/video/tiq8oBFfgzA/видео.html it’s an interview I did with a meteorologist If you would like you can send me an email at marciebillen@kw.com and I can help answer any questions
Oklahoma Real Estate with Rüya Team Realty thank you so much I looked up the crime rate and it said “4.7-one full point above the national rate of 3.7 incidents per 1,000 people. The property crime rate is 28.8 incidents per 1,000, versus 22.0 across the country.” Idk if it a lot or not or if it’s good or bad . I don’t understand
Katherine Arce honestly I can’t speak about crime rate at all, (because of my license) my advice to you would be to visit and chat with some locals about it
Most of Oklahoma is family friendly. It just depends on what your specific family is looking for. Explore each city/town, google maps tends to be the best for this, and take your pic.
Lived in Oklahoma half my life have you ever noticed that no Big corporations or Fortune 500 companies set up shop there🤔🤔🤔🤔 they don’t it’s one of the worst places for jobs why go there when you can move south to Texas🤔🤔🤔🤔
@@juliusreed5273 there are significant reasons why corps move beyond your theory that Oklahoma is some terrible place. It may not be for everyone and I agree that the state govt and rural areas hold OKC back from its full potential, but I don’t think the state is so horrible like you but that they don’t stoop to business like TX does/has. Can Oklahoma improve, yes absolutely. But not everything, elsewhere is so great.
fun fact, Brahms is another term for Brahman the highest caste and the God Brahma, creator of the universe in Hinduism who made Vishnu and Shiva ordain the world. Cows are scared in India, they are not to be messed with cause it symbolizes love, strength and fertility.
I got a solution for the South/Midwest debate - go back to calling it Indian Territory. At least anything east of OKC, if not the whole state. Not South, not Midwest, its unique. Its Indian Territory.

@@texasson7950 Yes keep it quiet lol. We work in the Oklahoma City Metro, we cover a fair amount of area. I also have fantastic agents I work with in Ardmore/Sulphur, Tulsa, and Stillwater

Lava Bros hello! Edmond is a cool old town, very spread out, so you’ve got to pinpoint the areas that are right for you. If you would like, you can email me at marciebillen@kw.com and we can talk
Braum’s is a total pro. They actually have stores/restaurants within a 6 hr drive of their Tuttle Farm. The SE part of OK is beautiful. I’m from the area originally, I wouldn’t recommend moving their unless you only care about church gatherings as your main form of entertainment though.

Braum’s has great burgers too.

I’m a full Oklahoman I was born in Oklahoma and I stayed my entire life
it does snow occasionally in Okla. the seasons/weather here is a bit bi-polar...(to say the least ;) )......i was born here in Okla., and have lived here 64 of my 66yrs. life. eastern Okla. is very different from central & western Okla. eastern, is quite lush and green... very "southern-ish" , central Okla. looks very mid-western/south western...........and western Okla . looks like a set from a "spaghetti western"......and every part has it's own beauty.
Great description! Every part is different and beautiful for sure

Regarding Passenger Rail options in Oklahoma:
I have taken AMTRAK between Norman, OK and KCMO and between Norman, OK and Naperville, IL near Chicago.
- facebook.com/groups/HeartlandFlyer/permalink/10157685752291921/
The most knowledgeable person about passenger rail information is Evan Stair and you can find some of his FB posts at the following two FB groups. -
Friends of the Heartland Flyer - facebook.com/groups/HeartlandFlyer/
and
Friends of the Southwest Chief - facebook.com/groups/25567124972
Unfortunately, the Southwest Chief schedules are thrice weekly during COVID but am hopeful for a return to daily scheduling at some point and hopefully a return to Chef prepared meals to order in its dining car again too.
We would definitely love an expanded rail system! Thanks for watching!
it snowed in winters in Muskogee where i lived.

Texas is turning into a liberal infested dark hole. Look at Austin.
"one or two days in the fall are nice" I live here. That is not accurate. Fall in most of Oklahoma is beautiful. Most days mid Sept to through mid Nov are nice to get out in.
Several people have commented this, I understand and #wind is part of what I’m talking about, I really appreciate the comment!!

Once again, great folks, windy as hell! Played college golf for OCU. Boomer Sooner!
*can’t see because of the wind in my hair* sounds right
Lived in ok my whole life the high humidity and heat makes summers miserable I would use a different analogy though imagine someone has just taken a really hot shower in a tiny bathroom that’s what outside feels like all the time you almost feel like you should hold your breath because your brain half thinks it’s underwater it does snow but normally melts quickly turning the ground to sludge falls are great I’d say not cold between mid September and mid October we normally get a perfect 30 days of no air or heater needed great grilling weather springs are rainy as the Amazon but normally not hot like summer so it’s pleasant if you don’t mind getting wet tornadoes aren’t terrible like most think they cut very thin swaths of destruction and with Oklahoma population so spread out it’s rare for anything to get destroyed and when it does it’s normally just minor/severe roof dmg I’d be way more worried about hurricanes wildfires and earthquakes
Yes Braums is awesome

Thankyou for the video,is Grove, Ok a good place to live and work?
Grove is a cool little lake city, if you’d like to send me an email at marciebillen@kw.com, I can answer some more of your questions

You would prefere Eastern Ok or Southern ok
East Broken Arrow is my choice although Jenks and Owasso have good schools. The weather can get crazy but we have 4 seasons Fall being the nicest. The big plus is the cost of living. Downtown Tulsa has some very nice parks(gathering place) and entertainment.
I forgot to mention that you need to be very careful of local flooding. Stay away from the innocent looking creeks as your rental or home you bought can flood.

Katherine Arce as far as crime rates, the best way to find that is a google search. For weather and tornado, about 50% of existing homes have a storm shelter. The cost to install them is anywhere from $3000 to $10,000 and there are many different kinds and companies. Is Broken Arrow a good area for small families?
Most of Oklahoma is family friendly. It just depends on what your specific family is looking for. Explore each city/town, google maps tends to be the best for this, and take your pic.
So what is it like living there if you are not religious?
It can be difficult for sure, finding groups with no religious affiliation is important
