Realtor Explains Down Payment Assistance Advantage in Oklahoma
Zillow is like boomer vibes, I think most people under 40 are using Redfin now
oldest city in indian territory!
It's so ironic that you're a realtor here selling what you hate! You're in the wrong business. I wonder what you think of the people who are paying your wages by having you for their realtor. Since you hate it why are you here? Yes we have a couple of not so pretty features like tornadoes but good grief, mosquitoes are in alot of states! I love the country here! 🙄🕊
That’s wayyyyy too expensive for Oklahoma
This is an off subject question. What are the laws concerning squatting?? If someone is squatting in your house or on your property can you drag them off your property?
Edmond might have less cars that exceed 120 decibels?
this is native america, yall put us here, your choice, us in the heart of the cherokee nation have everything we need
When you saw those dolls 😂😂😂😂
😱
Love the video. I did have a question. What does it mean when you said a neighborhood was "shop approved" thanks!
So the neighborhood has restrictions (HOA) but in those documents shops are allowed
@okrealtor are you saying someone could purchase a home and use it as a storefront or business?
Have you been to visit the new Selah Farms neighborhood south of hwy 9 on w 24th? It’s still really new but it is AMAZING
I have!
@ my kiddo and I drive through a few times a month to see the fast progress. There’s a mini edition called ’the cottages at Selah’, that looks almost like a pocket community and it is ADORABLE
On the windows in the storm shelter...When my daughter was house hunting, we saw a house that had a storm shelter that was partially above ground. It had windows. My guess is either so that you can see outside or maybe as secondary ventilation? It was a pretty sweet shelter, though. It was HUGE, could've easily fit a family of 10, with their pets. The roof of it was flat, so you could've easily used it as some sort of deck (about 2 feet was above ground). Storm shelters inside the home scare the bejeezus out of me. I'm afraid the house will come down on top of me and I'll be stuck in a small dark hole until someone finds me. If I were to choose a storm shelter, it would be a basement/cellar that had an outside door, or one like at the house I mentioned, where it is a separate structure. I don't have one, don't care to. all that to say...I've never, in my 52 years of living in Norman, hunkered down during a tornado. The one tornado that actually came anywhere near my house (hopped over me and hit NHS and Flood Ave)...I was standing on the porch watching the storm. It was so cool... 🤣
Haha I’ve done the same
We live in Atoka and what terrifies me most is the possibility of a twister hitting in the middle of the night when we are asleep. We have the apps and alarms etc for storm warnings, but the idea of having to leap out of bed and get two dogs into a storm shelter across the yard
It can definitely be a scary feeling
I would hate living in Norman as well with all the pollution of Sooner football fans! 😂 Oklahoma has more freshwater shoreline than all other lower 48 states except Minnesota. Norman is the third largest city in Oklahoma. Surprised you didn’t mention any of The MAPS projects in OKC. Quality of life in OKC has grown in leaps and bounds since the days I grew up here in the 1950s and 60s
Yes you need to watch a few more of my videos sounds like
I remember when city council passed this. I have thought about doing this so my son could have a separate dwelling. Cost would be an issue though lol Maybe one day when my RUclips career takes off! 🤣
It can be pricey!
The real problem is that the state has been poorly managed for decades. Leadership has failed to promote and support basic services- hvac, plumbing, electrical, certified mechanics, MEDICAL (a year wait for dental, even worse for obgyn). It is beautiful here, but quality of living is bottom of the barrel.

They are working on the Vision for housing at Lake Thunderbird.
Oh interesting
Ah man I watched this hoping you would show what was to the right on Robinson when I was there a couple of years ago and they had construction fences around it and I was curious what they were building there
It was probably just the work they were doing on griffin park
I love Norman the Great
Lawton has a fairly competent public transportation. True it's busses, we have no need for local rail service. If you want to see truly flat land, drive eastern Arkansas. It's been flood plain for the Mississippi River for centuries, by comparison Oklahoma is mostly gentle to moderate rolling hills. I lived in the Atlanta, GA area for 30 years. I hated it for 29.5 of them. I love Oklahoma's big sky, a lot of people are intimidated by it. True there is not the large stores and shopping opportunities, but I can't stay on my feet to wander around big or complicated stores, I never could. I like the slower pace and relative safety of living here. Yes the mosquitoes are bad, but they are worse in elsewhere. You need to visit southern Oklahoma before you judge the whole state, whether you've lived here your whole life or not.
Its a shithole.
Great little drive, thanks for taking us along. My daughter and I drove up to Norman for a night from Central Texas last weekend and drove around. We really liked Norman! I wouldn't have known anything without watching your videos. And I promise if we think of relocating and buying, I will call YOU! ❤
Ohmigoodness thank you 🥰
Any recommendations for someone who isn’t much of a people person? Looking for a slower paced and affordable lifestyle in a small town.
@@Persona5g sure! I have some other videos that may be helpful on that
Very informative video..thanks for making it ❤
I’m so glad!
My life partner Julian and I moved to Oklahoma from California in hopes of starting our lives over in a cheaper place. We had recently had to downgrade from out high rise condo after the job market fell out. We had researched and heard so much about how friendly the people were here and had high hopes, but I am here to tell you beneath the thin veneer of fake smiling churchgoers is the heart of pure fascism, sexism, racism and just general intolerance for anyone expressing an alternative, progressive lifestyle. DO NOT COME HERE!!! Within a month of moving to Oklahoma City we were witness to pure domestic terrorism because of our LGBTQ lifestyle. First a brick was thrown through the window of our suburban house, which we chalked up to teenage antics, but just several days later we woke up to graffiti all over our Prius that said "go back to California Qu33rs" and other awful things I won't repeat here (use your imagination). Julian was terrified, as he was originally from the South himself and a victim of a hate crime for his sexual orientation. There were Trump signs up and down the blocks of our neighborhood and american flags (as if they would know anything about true liberty or patriotism). I tried to be strong for Julian and tell him we were just have a little bad luck at first, but things DID NOT GET BETTER! I had people walking door to door trying to invite me to church so I would repent of my "sinful lifestyle" every Saturday morning and forget about calling the police, they were no help! Even after they came by to investigate the car graffiti it seemed like they were in on some kind of inside joke. Smirking and condescending myself and Julian saying thing like "Don't worry sweeties, we'll see what we can do to look into it". I never got a call back from an officer or ANYTHING! Meanwhile, our job situation had become almost untenable as I was constantly being accosted by the redneck guy at my work asking me if I wanted go out blasting guns at the range with him and his buddies sometime. I told him I was not interested in being a contributor to the school violence epidemic. The finally straw was when we were driving down a fairly busy street in the city and saw an actual cross burning with people in white hoods (yes, those guys, you know who) having a big rally to "protect their culture". Julian was sobbing, having a mental breakdown and ptsd flashbacks. I was crying too, I couldn't believe we had been roped into moving to such a retread, ultra-conservative, intolerant terrible state with so much hate in it. We put our house up on market the next day and decided to move somewhere on the east coast in hopes of never encountering this kind of awful place ever again. I AM WARNING ANY PROGRESSIVES, DEMOCRATS, CENTRISTS whatever you may be that doesn't go along with Trump's hate agenda places like Oklahoma are not safe for peaceful, tolerant, left leaning real americans who believe love is love you are not safe if you come here and the authorities will not be on your side and turn a blind eye when threats are made against you and your significant other. Don't let the cheaper living fool you, it comes at dangerous, maybe even deadly price if you stick around!
I live in rural Oklahoma and the one thing I don't like about it is because funding government is not distributed equally we have a lot of places that are in need of help but we never get it I've been trying to get 287 fixed for the last 10 years they started on it but they left it disarray rural Oklahoma is a fine place to live but I object to how all the money is spent in Eastern and we are forgotten
I’ve heard this goes on a bit for sure
Move!
Thank you for the excellent suggestion.
Norman was great back in the 70s and 80s when i was "terrorizing " town in my 69 Mustang Mach 1

I hate the Goddamn weather. Its terrible all year round and the rain in the fall ruins EVERYTHING we try to do for Halloween. Christmas is dreary and rainy. Summer is brutal and miserable and it lingers on well past September. I hate this damn place so much.

I love going water skiing on Lake Optima, a unique and impressive lake in the Oklahoma panhandle. I believe that Optima dam is the largest earthen dam in Oklahoma.
Interested how can I contact you via email ?

Hello! I just subscribed! Love your video. I live in a nice home in Poteau and was curious if you had an opinion on what the future may hold here for growth and/or property value predictions? Thank you . ❤
Thanks so much! Honestly I know very little about Poteau 😔
I am from the north and have had enough of the way it is up my way. When I went to Oklahoma a while back I felt immediately attatched to it. It is like I left a piece of myself there when I was on my out by plane. All I could do was look out of the window, at the sight below to capture every last moment of the land in sight below. I long to be there. I do not fit in where I am from and have not since even before going to ❤️
Thank you, Marcie! ❤ PS I love candy corn too!
You’re welcome! Candy corn is the best!!
