So I grew up in Oklahoma, but moved to NE Arkansas in my early twenties. Living there changed my perspective on mosquitoes. That area is known as rice country, which means field after field of standing water. It's unreal how many mosquitoes there are! I moved back to Oklahoma after living there for fourteen years and I have since never complained about mosquitoes once since I've been back. Moral to this story, is it can always be MUCH worse!

For this video just being 3 years old. Very inconsistent besides style of homes. Depending on location you can get everything a big city can provide , depending on budget. I’ve been everywhere between Kalispell, MT to Chiefland, FL. Born and raised in OKC, OK.

Being able to drive with nothing in between towns is what makes Oklahoma exceptionally good. And if you think Oklahoma is flat, then get off I35 and I40. Oklahoma is very diverse from corner to corner. If you are a city person, move to Dallas. Oklahoma is for relaxed, family, outdoor adventures.

I lived in FL for over 20 years and while I enjoyed going to the beach, I actually enjoy it more now because I can go on vacation and spend more time there than when I lived right next to it. Plus, it’s only 7 hrs to Galveston from here. I also find that going to the lakes is just as much fun, if not more. If you hate OK so much, you should go live elsewhere. But I wouldn’t be surprised if you came back when you find how much better it is living here. After many years in crazy S Florida, living here is a blessing.

The prices are crazy and the traffic has gotten so insane. My small suburb where we barely saw traffic or crime has unfortunately disappeared due to, way to much growth to quickly. It’s all due to contractors propagating our areas to sell homes, land and fill the million new apartments they destroyed our community with. Growth is good but not this much this fast. I remember when I was young and dumb like this realtor, armed with a college degree and ready to move out of backward Oklahoma. I've traveled all over this pretty country on business. Here's what I've since learned from the school of hard knocks.
You can pick all but a handful of states to live. And once you experience the crime, the attitudes, the property taxes, the cost of living, the quality of life, even the weather, you will kiss the tarmac upon arriving back in Oklahoma when you get to be my age.
As to being landlocked, you can hop a plane and be in any ocean surrounding the U.S. in less than three hours from Oklahoma, stay there a couple of weeks, get your fill of the ocean/mountains. And you'll actually have money to spend to enjoy yourself on the beach, instead of eating the trash from dumpster while living on the beach because there is nothing left of your paycheck living near the beach.

Tex totally agree. I been to over 20 states. We got it so good. The problem is Oklahomans don't say good things about themselves. It's a echo chamber that kids hear over and over growing up till their adults. No we're to perfect. Even as a red state most of our statehood was run by democrats who screwed us outta of oil royalties unlike Texas have set up. It's also why our state government suffers sometimes. It's bigger then it should be for our size. The roads, lol well we could be California and still have these roads because of our extreme weather with hot and cold. And we're putting more into tourism. We are late on arrival on that. But the last decade is paying off. 30 years back and we be on track. Think about it northwest Arkansas is blowing up in population and they love coming to Oklahoma for outdoor stuff and I feel we aren't doing enough to capitalize on it. Maybe some more camping areas would be a start. Dallas is hooked on our lakes and casinos. What else could we do to capitalize on that. Dallas is on our state border. It's metro is. Oklahoma is about to become like California's Oregon or Arizona with a mini Vegas and lake Tahoe attached to it. But more in a better way. Most is already in place with lots of room

I moved here 3 years ago from Ohio because of family. So, I have a pretty good idea about what Oklahoma has to offer. If you split Oklahoma into quadrants using Oklahoma City as the center, each quadrant has unique geography and a different look. There are lots of outdoor activities (lakes / boating / fishing / camping / hiking / hunting / ATV). OKC and Tulsa have some really nice restaurants, but most of Oklahoma is rural ranchland. There are some nuances to be aware of before moving to OK; I'll list a couple: 1) There are a couple really nice months in the year (March, April, October and November). The rest suck. When you get bad weather; it's really bad ; 2) The Native Americans control many things in OK, and very little gets approved without their support. That's, in part, why progress is slow here; 3) The cost of living is on the lower side (about the same as Ohio) but it's not as low as it is reported; 4) It is a right to work state, so there prevailing wage for most jobs is comparatively low; 5) You better like shopping at Walmart because that's often your only or closest option; 6) The roadways (highways) are littered with broken down vehicles and items that have flown off of trailers. I don't understand it; it just is; 7) Auto and home-owners insurance is really high here. My car insurance doubled when I moved to OK from Ohio. That is Oklahoma.

Thank you for sharing these very objective points. We are considering a move from Long Beach, CA (to Tulsa area) and are trying to be very thorough in our planning. We love California's beauty (and of course, the ocean) but it is too expensive to raise a family here, and the hustle culture is exhausting. The city we live in is very dirty and there is high crime that doesn't even get prosecuted anymore. Let's just say, I'm not comfortable walking alone at night in my own neighborhood. We are willing to trade the weather for some place we can realistically put down roots and live comfortably and Oklahoma caught our eye for sure.

I was born and raised in Detroit. We had humidity, mosquitos and tornadoes there too, plus the bitter cold winters as well.
When I was in the Navy, my parents moved to San Diego so when I got out, I moved to San Diego as well. Back then, SoCal was a great place to be. These days, not so much. Over the last several years, everyone I have ever known here has moved out of Calif. I can't really blame them though, it has gotten so bad out here, it's unreal. My parents are up there in Heaven now and my sisters have also moved away.
The only thing keeping me here is my job, and I will be retiring in a couple of years so after a lot of thought, I will be relocating to Oklahoma. One of the reasons is the tornadoes. Well, not so much the tornadoes themselves, but the thunderstorms that spawn them. You see, besides my career as a Machinist, I am a storm chaser and a certified Skywarn storm spotter for the National Weather Service. I chase storms not so much for the thrill, but to help the NWS get the severe weather warnings out because their radars cannot see what's happening on the ground. My efforts help save lives. I have been to Oklahoma several times in the past, chasing storms. I have friends there as well, and whenever they mention to other people in Oklahoma that I am a storm chaser, those people treat me like I am some kind of celebrity or something. I have found that the people there are very friendly and outgoing, something that I rarely see out here.
I like everything about Oklahoma, the lower cost of living, less traffic, the friendly people, I can go on. The only thing I am not so sure of is the medical care, which I have heard isn't very good, because I have a chronic pain condition (messed up back, have been through several surgeries so far) and I am afraid that I may not be able to get the care that I need.
I am looking forward to moving to Oklahoma. I vote Republican so there is no worries about bringing California beliefs with me, and I would tell everyone I am from Detroit and not Calif. because I have never felt that Calif. is home to me because it's not.

Lawton has a fairly competent public transportation. True it's busses, we have no need for local rail service. If you want to see truly flat land, drive eastern Arkansas. It's been flood plain for the Mississippi River for centuries, by comparison Oklahoma is mostly gentle to moderate rolling hills. I lived in the Atlanta, GA area for 30 years. I hated it for 29.5 of them. I love Oklahoma's big sky, a lot of people are intimidated by it. True there is not the large stores and shopping opportunities, but I can't stay on my feet to wander around big or complicated stores, I never could. I like the slower pace and relative safety of living here. Yes the mosquitoes are bad, but they are worse in elsewhere. You need to visit southern Oklahoma before you judge the whole state, whether you've lived here your whole life or not.

I was born in OKC but moved to Dallas-FW and lived for almost 40 years. True there are a lot of things to do in a bigger city, but now that I'm back in OK I do not miss the big city traffic and the stress. Oklahoma is more laid back and I kinda like that. Plus it's close enough to DFW or Colorado or KC if you want to get away and go see a big name show etc. But.........they do need to update the highways here big time, they are way out of date.

My problem with the housing styles is that most of them are really short, most houses you see in Oklahoma, are those brown brick flat houses with black roofs, and those houses just don’t look good.
I love the wheeler districts style of housing. We need more of that in the state, Carlton and wheeler are peak housing in Oklahoma
I love townhomes, that’s one of the reasons I love Boston so much, if we had just tons of neighborhoods in/next to our downtowns in the style of the wheeler, or the townhomes in the deep duece. It would make our cities better.
Also I can tell you Oklahoma is not boring (atleast OKC) I’m from San Diego and have been to most big cities, and have had more fun in OKC than places like LA
OKC is like a smaller version of Dallas, it’s a entreatment city, this is shown by all of the districts and activities it has.

State bird, never heard that live in Oklahoma and it takes at 75 mph down I-35 S 9 hours and 15 minutes but travel takes you from Norman to the state line at Oklahoma 70 mph approx. 1.5 hours, now once in Texas the speed is allowed on average 75 mph with some segments at 80 to 85. Corpus Christi is 588 miles from Norman. So let us say that you would prefer to drive to the pristine waters of South Padre Island Texas, is 742 miles so 1.5 to the Oklahoma, Texas State line and then 75,80,85 lets say you average that at 72 mph 10.3. Now this begs the question most flights there round trip are est. in the 250.00 to a little over 400.00 dollars. drive time in a car 10 hours give or take on your stopping for breaks and food. probably 13 hours. the gas though let us suppose your car gets 45 mpg highway and rule out in Norman drive. 742 miles to beautifully clear Gulf waters would take approximately 98.9 dollars round trip. But the average depends on really what kind of car you drive suv the lower 20s hybrid around the upper 30s electric adds to your time as you charge for a very long time. The Average mpg is a car 24.5 which would cost at 3 dollars a gallon 181.71 dollars if you aren't driving in cities along the way to see historical places. True your cost by plane is more but saves you an average of 3hr and 15 min and you can book flights through travel sources like Travelocity and get that flight through United for 136 dollars.
I get it its not about going to the beach gulf or ocean it's about its proximity to where you live, and neither do 29 other states and the ones that do may not be a great beach exp. Alaska, Maine, Alabama, Mississippi, and the Pacific are cold from Alaska down to California. A wet suit is required for northern Cal. and Oregon and Washington.
As far as the inconvenience of travel distance North Texas poses similar circumstances, New Mexico and any state North of New Mexico and Arizona not bordering the sea. One may say the sea of Cortez, beautiful but dangerous. Miami is great could move there you had best be a good swimmer, rip tides abound on the southern Atlantic coast, especially during hurricane season.
So what makes me right, Nothing it is just perspective, I grew up in Eastern Oklahoma, a small town, where people still wave at strangers and if you have a car problem people will stop to help. Don't try that in major metropolitan cities like Los Angeles, San Fran, and Seattle. Portland is not a city close to the shore. Same on the east coast.
The number 2 reason for not liking Oklahoma yields little consideration. An Oklahoma native enjoys a much cheaper cost of living than those in the east-west or Gulf areas. You live and are native to a state that has no oceanic border, yet you are from Oklahoma Northeast Oklahoma. it is not like you have been able to weigh in on the advantage-disadvantage with any relative understanding of life elsewhere.
    Good Luck to you.

I would hate living in Norman as well with all the pollution of Sooner football fans! 😂 Oklahoma has more freshwater shoreline than all other lower 48 states except Minnesota. Norman is the third largest city in Oklahoma. Surprised you didn’t mention any of The MAPS projects in OKC. Quality of life in OKC has grown in leaps and bounds since the days I grew up here in the 1950s and 60s

There's quite a few 'I hate Oklahoma' videos, but yours is the only one with an entertaining, accomplished speaker. ;) I was waiting to find a point I disagreed with, if I am being honest and...I did not. All 10 of those are valid for me as well, even though I am still living in small town northeast Oklahoma! Thanks for the share.

I feel the same way. I still live in Oklahoma, but all the reasons she spoke of I don't really disagree with. My three biggest problems with Ok is the unpredictable weather, the utter lack of really fun events, and the stagnant minimum wage amount.
The only reasons I'm still here is because I wouldn't be able to afford living else where, and a lot of my family is here or lives fairly close by.

Sounds like she needs to move to California. Oceans, public transportation, no red dirt, it’s not ugly, there are nice houses, and no tornados. See her later.
I live in the best state in the world. But do have friends in Boise city. Have nothing but admiration for those who love OK. It’s a great proud state

Lol there's a good reason why people are leaving CA by the droves. It's such a shame, it used to be the best state in the nation. Not anymore. The good weather is the only good thing CA has left.

Here in Tulsa Oklahoma sucks because housing deposits are the same as the Rent and SSI sucks because they don't give enough to pay for double the rent for having deposits and rent and it's not vary peaceful people fighting and cussing and rude and weird people it's just creepy and everyone has a date so singles stay single it's known as little LA California because how it started out Tulsa Oklahoma is the starting point 👉 of LA boom

It's not that bad. She made it sound like Florida or New Orleans bad. It's not. Yes we have them like the rest of the country outside of the deserts. And yes its more of them in the dark countryside.the cities aren't bad.

I think one of the worst things about Oklahoma is, you’re in it. I can’t believe a realtor is beating down the state she’s selling property in. Business management obviously not your long suit.

Sissortail state bird. I've lived in 4 states OK, CA, AZ, CO & realized there are worse places to live than Okla. Every state has it's pros and cons, the question is what kind of deal you personally have going on. Phil Walker here. Boring & not walking anywhere is on you.

Same here- have lived in 4 states too.
WA/OR/CA/OK - I personally like the wide open feel of the plains/fields but then again after being in Seattle/ Tacoma and in/around LA/SanDiego the big city-skyscraper vibe isn't my thing.
