OMGGG! This video solved an issue I'd been having with my Cricut Joy that I couldn't figure out for THREE HOURS. I was about ready to throw my computer out the window and then I found this! Thank you for showing each step by step - you're a lifesaver! Now I have perfectly cut stickers on my Cricut Joy! :D
Thank you for sharing! I’ve owned my Cricut Joy for almost 2 years and never used it. I don’t understand why they would change the function to make it necessary to find a “hack” to use the product.
Thank you for this tutorial . It’s very easy to follow and made amazing sticker’s .😊. Now I don’t need to buy any bigger machines as the joy can do most of the work😊.
Thanks Debbie! The nice thing about the ScanNCut is that you can scan in the print out and then cut it - easy peasy. So, print then cut is easiest on ScanNCut in my opinion. Have fun!!
Glad you liked it. No hack required for foiling with the Joy Xtra, just use the Cricut Joy Foil Transfer Kit. All the tools that work in the Joy also work in the Joy Xtra. 😃
@@annavannoni With the foil tip, you choose Foil. But if you want to draw then the Pen>Draw option works too. All the Joy pens work in the Joy Xtra. The main thing you don't have with either Joy machine is Score but you can score with the Foil Tip too (just don't use the foil when doing that - lol). I hope that helps!
Do mean printing on cardstock and then cutting it with the Joy? Yes, it should. Just use the appropriate material setting for the weight of cardstock your using when you cut; I recommend Medium Cardstock for any cardstock in the 65 - 80 lb/176-200 gsm range (despite the Light Cardstock setting) and the Heavy Cardstock for anything heavier.
I would use a setting with more pressure to cut them out like Medium or Heavy Cardstock depending on the weight of the sticker paper your using. That way the blade should cut all the way through the sticker paper and the backing.
I have a video that shows how to do that here: ruclips.net/video/kt0sErUw8ms/видео.html It's a bit older so I can't guarantee the all the screens will completely match the more updated version of Cricut Design Space but it will be close enough that you should be able to understand it. Thanks!
No, the tape is to create a template on the mat that you can use again and again. Eventually you’ll probably have to redo it as the tape loses its stickiness but it should last for a while.
I tried this hack, with my daughters name, and the joy started cutting every letter out.. I am trying to make sticker name labels for school stationery.
It sounds like the letters in the name need to be Combined/Welded and then Flattened so that they don't cut individually. Or, Combine the name, create an offset and then cut that out - assuming you want a shadow layer if the name and not a shape, like an oval, or something behind it.
I'm not sure I completely understand the problem - when you print the images, they become smaller? If that's the case, you should check your printer page settings. If it's set to things like "Fit to Page" or "Shrink to Fit" that can cause the printer to change the size of your layout. If that's not what's going wrong, please give me a bit more info. Thanks!
You don't need to - the Maker supports Print Then Cut projects so you can print right from Design Space and the Maker's sensor reads the corner marks that are added to the print and then cuts the images out. The Joy doens't have the sensor which is why you need the hack.
@@BlackSheep303Crafts Ok. Thanks. I don't like printing from there because of the pixels. I need to find an up to date hack for printing outside of DS.
@@Wrightn221 Are you using your printer dialog box to set the printer settings rather than just using whatever Design Space sets it at? Under the "Add Bleed" toggle on the Print Setup screen in Design Space that shows up after you click Send to Printer, there's a toggle for "Use System Dialog". If you turn that on then your printer dialog box will show up and you can change the settings to High Quality/Best, change the paper type, etc. That should allow you to print high quality from Design Space. But if you're getting a lot of pixelization in the prints, that sounds like an image issue, not a print issue - as in the image is too small/the resolution is too low to print at the size you want it to without pixelating. If you are downloading images from the web, for example, they are normally at 72 ppi (pixels per inch), whereas print quality is 300 ppi so that may be the problem. If that's the problem, you'll need to either download images at a higher quality/larger size (sometimes websites give you that option) or take them into a program like Vectorizer.ai (not free unfortunately) to scale them up in quality. I hope that makes sense.
@@BlackSheep303Crafts I know all about pixels and what they should be. I make t shirts, tumblers, etc. so I know my files have to be 300 dpi or higher. My printer setting has nothing to do with how Cricut decreases the pixels in something that's 300 dpi or higher. It's DS. It's not created for sublimation. Thanks for responding.
Unfortunately this doesn't work for me I'm unable to print from cricut it doesnt even give me option too print anywhere...also when I try to change the machine to explore or any other machine it says I need to register the machine so it won't let me wasted alot of paper trying all night...I can say it cut the sticker paper just not right spot only because I'm unable to print from cricut to have the right size....
@@222evollove Did you watch this updated video or the old one because in this updated version I show you how to print from Word (or any other photo print program) to get around the problem of only being able to use a “registered” machine. That is the change Cricut made to Design Space that caused an updated hack to be needed. From your comment, it sounds like you are going off the instructions from the older video.
I followed everything and it worked well until I got to the contouring bit, when the contour took out the images and left a black background. I can't think where I went wrong.
@@stellashandmade If the black background is the offset layer for each image, that’s okay. Offset defaults to a black fill but you can cut it out of any color if you don’t want to change the fill color of the offset layer. Or, am I misunderstanding what the black background is that you’re left with?
Is the black background the rectangle that you made with the sticker images in Canva or something else? Did you remove the white background using the + and clicking anywhere on the white around the images after you first uploaded it to Design Space? The rectangle shouldn't be a solid color if you did that. I think I need some more details.
Can you tell me where in the steps things start to go wrong? Is everything printing okay but then the machine doesn't cut them correctly? Is the cut off one side or another or just completely wrong? If you give me some more details, I may be able to help. Calibrating the machine can help with the cut, but that may not be what you need to do depending on the problem you're running into.
It's definitely not easy...it's just a solution to the no print-then-cut problem with the Joy. I personally think those who are just starting out with Cricut and/or can afford to, should go to the Joy Xtra if possible since it supports print-then-cut without any hack. It's a lot easier.
Hi I am still new to cricut and have been watch tons of videos I have the joy. What setting would you do if you wanted them to cut out is individual stickers instead of on one big sheet?
Well, if you only waat to print and cut one image at a time you can set up the template in the rectangle to just cut the one image, then print the template with the one image however many times you want to cut it out. Then in Design Space you'll have to duplicate the template the same number of times you printed it to get multiple mats where you can cut each one on its own. I hope that makes sense.

That is an excellent question. I wonder that too - to get you to buy a machine that can print then cut too? Impossible to know really.
This is an amazing and absolutely great idea, I was so bummed when my joy was asking me to register new devices! This would work great!!
Thanks! I hope you try it.
Thanks for the great hack. I was always just ignoring any cricut videos for print and cut. But now I may want to get my printer working again.
Glad it was helpful! Always good to have a working printer - lol.
Thank you for the video. I’ve had my Joy 3 years still in the box
As soon as I figure out how to use it I’ll give this a try. Again Thank you
Please do and please get that machine out of the box. Once you get the hang of it, you will love it!! 😉

This is amazing, I will try it out tomorrow
Good luck! 🙂

How do you cut it all the way through the backing of the sticker so you have like a 'die-cut' sticker?
I would use a setting with more pressure to cut them out like Medium or Heavy Cardstock depending on the weight of the sticker paper your using. That way the blade should cut all the way through the sticker paper and the backing.
