Reese! I'm so glad I found your channel this year. Can relate to the job thing- it's stressful not working, but working and making films is hard. Don't worry about the time you spend on your work- you don't have to churn out weekly/ monthly stuff, go at your own pace. Happy 2023 & can't wait to see Honey bear. 🙌

Dude respectfully, you’re expecting success instantly. Your ego and level of entitlement are way too high if you want to have a healthy mindset about art. Film needs to be a hobby for you. Don’t worry about audience (although Cobblestoned has decent views for your channel, so why complain?). If you want your RUclips channel to do better, narrative content that takes a while is not the way to go. Begging for money online is not the way either. All of us are broke, too. We all have dreams of things we’d rather do than our day jobs. But that doesn’t mean we get it for nothing. There’s nothing wrong with a job at Aldi’s. Go get a job. (Or go independent and use your video skills for work.) Work on your videos on the nights/weekends. Rinse/repeat. But don’t do it for “success”. Do it for the love of it. That’s what art is about. Anything else, you’d be better off pining for some other career. Happy New Year and I hope you take this in the helpful spirit in which it is intended. Take care.
Nah, you’re right. Wasn’t really complaining or begging for money. Mostly just venting some frustrations. I’ve been doing this for a real long time and sometimes it feels like I’m fighting an uphill battle, ya know?
@@DashingAgent Thanks for understanding. I get the need to vent. I’m in a similar situation, juggling work and artistic aspirations. But you’re younger than me and you’ve made more films than most people who aspire to filmmaking ever do. Most people just sit around and dream about it, you actually went and did something. That’s more than 99% of people. Don’t get discouraged. It’s easy to compare yourself and feel like you’re behind in life. But the truth is that everyone feels like that, and it’s almost never true.
Isn’t it JUST some bullshit. Make good money = sell your soul. Make less money = opportunities to feel creatively fulfilled.
When I first started my channel, I never felt more hopeful and excited about my life even tho I was making like… half of what I’m making now. Now the money is good but my channel has completely fallen by the wayside 🫠
