A Thin Lizzy fan since day one. Yea, Phil is dead, and will never be replaced, This is BSR and Scott and the band have captured some of the best of what TL was, and remade it into something of their own rather than being a cover band of TL. Kudos Scott and the crew. Every tune is a gem!!! BSR stands on their own as a stellar line up with great compositions! I just wish I could see the band live!!
Absolutely. I saw them live in Glasgow. As an old guy I was glad to find a seat as my left knee gets sore during a whole stand-up session. But what a night. The very best.
Good honest rock music, what more do we need? I’m 70 years old now, and this reminds me off the music from my twenties ( including thin lizzy ) so it’s great.
I am a fan of thin lizzy, and when I first heard they regrouped with a new name I was excited for their debut. The debut was fantastic. This sophomore album looks to be just as good! Keep it up!
Really digging BSR and glad they didnt carry on as the great Lizzy. They are starting to blaze their own glory. An excellent follow up to a good first album. Catch them live if you can...I have seen them twice now and loved both gigs....
For the record,I'm a huge Thin Lizzy fan and was inicially very sceptical about the whole thing. But the first album was really good classic rock and the 2 songs I've heard so far from the second album are also pretty good, looking forward to hear the rest of the album. P.S.Some of you guys should listen to The Almighty, that's Ricky Warwick's old band,he always sounded like that, not to mention Thin Lizzy have influenced more Metal bands I can count. Edit:I just got the new album and it's great. The signature Thin Lizzy sound(''twin-guitars'',celtic scales, storytelling lyrics) with a little bit of The Almighty sound.Of course, the average, dumbed down,so-called ''Metalhead'' calls it ''country'' or Nickelback, because it doesn't have brütal growls etc. I´m not surprised.
Dirk Sigler Boogy Maiden,Metallica,Megadeth,Mastodon,Alice in Chains,Baroness,Rollins Band, Vollbeat,Audrey Horne,Europe,Bon Jovi(the lyrics of ''Wanted Dead or Alive'' are taken straight from ''Cowboy Song'',Jon Bon Jovi admitted it in an interview),Def Leppard,Anthrax,Galneryus,U2(they were actually opening up for Thin Lizzy in the beginning of their career),Smashing Pumpkins,The Cure,Danko Jones,The Sword,The Darkness,Gypsyhawk..... the list goes on and on.
yeah ok, Im sure .............. I dont agree with any of those band that came in the last 30 years ( most of ur examples came before ) .. How the heck does Danko Jones sound like Thin Lizzy??? to each his own
Dirk Sigler Boogy Danko Jones is a huge Thin Lizzy fan,he's done a bunch of covers with the McBrides(you can find them here on youtube) and he mentions Phil Lynott as one of his idols. Thin Lizzy is one of the most influencial rock bands, along with King X,that the average,dumbed-down rock/metal fan tends to ignore for whatever reasons. But if you ask some rock/metal musicians, about influences, their name always comes up.
Wow this is REALLY great!!!! Phil would be SO HAPPY SCOTT! Such an AMAZING band!!! Wow... I hope you put out many many LPs - excellent song writing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was listening to thin lizzy and decided to wiki it and read about it more and just found out about this and am very impressed cool something else to listen to alright
Ricky Warwick, now there is a name, and a man. I live just down the road from Ricky's origional home in Newtownards, Belfast, Northern Ireland. Heck I had many's a drink with my old mucker Ricky, Loved "The Almighty" one of his finest creations. I am glad to see another frontman from Northern Ireland makin it big. P.S. if ya like this stuff, ya should also look up "Stormzone" great British heavy metal from Northern Ireland also. Oh yeh Black Star Riders new album is amazing, whole album, get a few beers and sit back relax and listen to it. play it loud.
Took the kids (13 and 11) to see some Dad music @ Warrington Parr Hall. They loved it, Scott and Damon waving to the kids and throwing plectrums up to them. Just a great night out.
Would love to catch the Black Star Riders and Europe tour. I am glad to see these guys active! "The Killer Instinct" and "War Of Kings" will definitely end up in my collection!
I watched these guys with Mendoza and Downey as thin lizzy and it was awsem to be onist I've never been a fan of a lot of these BSR songs but this tune realy does kick ass it's fab to be fair it's so catchy I wish the best the them keeping the thin lizzy vibe alive
It's this what Queen should have done, reformed and perform under a new name but keep the sound and soul of the old stuff alive. Phil Lynott was a legend and IS Thin Lizzy just as Freddie Mercury IS Queen and no matter how talented the rest of the band are, you can't replace a legend especially showmen with exceptional talent like Phil and Freddie. I love this album by the way.
I see people arguing comparing Thin Lizzy and Black Star Riders. It's obvious -and even Scott Gorham said it- that BSR is NOT a new version of Thin Lizzy. The great thing about BSR is that, they keep Thin Lizzie's music alive in their concerts, and people need to realize that and appreciate it.
Hey all: To each there own. I know artists can't please everybody (no need to be rude about it if you don't like it) ,but I for one like the sound. It doesn't need to be super heavy to me to be a solid rock song. i wish them luck with BSR
Much more commercial than their previous stuff & closer to their own style than Lizzys looking forward to catching them in a few weeks on tour even if i have to put up with Europe to do it;-)
In the summer of 2016 current "Thin Lizzy" will do some shows with Scott Travis (long time drummer of Judas Priest) and Tom Hamilton (the basist of Aerosmith). I think it will be cool shows!
Time turns another page And a million years go passing by Broken heartstrings and guitar strings You and me all down the line Running wild carving our names On anything that we could find Are you in there anymore my friend? Are you in there anymore my friend? This could be our finest hour This could be our Shangri La This could be our finest hour If only we could keep it together We could find our way
I think BSR are a pretty good band, but in no way is Phil back, Phil was a once in a lifetime, a one of a kind, look, I've seen literally hundreds of bands, I can't remember what was so important that I didn't go, but one of my biggest concert regrets, is that when my singers from times past asked me if I wanted to go to the angel/thin Lizzy concert, I didn't go :(
Sometimes you gotta move on a bit, this is a great band with great songs and a great singer. They still embrace the legacy, and respect it, but its better to still hear what could have been, instead of nothing at all........
id rather hear this band then 98 percent of the shit they play on philly rock radio.i don't get the comparison with nickleback, scott Gorham could never be that gay.
Just had a thought ... if gorham died it would be like the situation with Phil, e.g. should they go on without Scott??? people would be saying "No gorham no BSR " just like they said "no lynott no lizzy" lol
John Stots Phil Lynott may have been the main man in Thin Lizzy but Scott Gorham made a major contribution to the Thin Lizzy sound, without him they wouldn't have sounded the way they did. I was a big fan in the 70's & 80's seeing them live many times, & I am more than happy that Scott Gorham has carried on playing the old songs & the new songs under the name of Black Star Riders. you guys are keeping the lizzy sound alive...long live Phil...

totally agree!!!!!

Just discovered them for myself. Love it. As an older guy myself. FUCK YEAH! Inspired now to keep in doing what I've always loved
I am a fan of thin lizzy, and when I first heard they regrouped with a new name I was excited for their debut. The debut was fantastic. This sophomore album looks to be just as good! Keep it up!
If you get the chance to see these guys live , do yourself a favour and you'll have a cracking night out. Great band , great songs

name one band they influenced. has to be a band that matters in the last 30 years. go
Dirk Sigler Boogy Have you ever heard whiskey in the jar performed by Metallica??? There you go...

Great!
Get this song out to the radiostations in the USA fast!
I think this can be a hit!
Maybe at country radio (but since it doesn't mention a tailgate or girls in shorts, that probably won't work either).
Just got in from seeing them at the Ulster Hall last night....what a fuckin band. Wiped the floor with Europe
I like this much better than what I have heard so far from the third album. Musicianship & vocals are good. I see why this has a lot of views.
Would love to catch the Black Star Riders and Europe tour. I am glad to see these guys active! "The Killer Instinct" and "War Of Kings" will definitely end up in my collection!
I love the way that rock god, Scott Gorham, raises his eyebrows at 1.20.

In the summer of 2016 current "Thin Lizzy" will do some shows with Scott Travis (long time drummer of Judas Priest) and Tom Hamilton (the basist of Aerosmith). I think it will be cool shows!

Awsome
Time turns another page
And a million years go passing by
Broken heartstrings and guitar strings
You and me all down the line
Running wild carving our names
On anything that we could find
Are you in there anymore my friend?
Are you in there anymore my friend?
This could be our finest hour
This could be our Shangri La
This could be our finest hour
If only we could keep it together
We could find our way
When the bands would come to town
We'd steal the money and go to the show
Singing their songs on the way down
Gave us something worth singing for
We were sixteen chasing our dreams
You and me all down that road
Are you in there anymore my friend?
Are you in there anymore my friend?
This could be our finest hour
This could be our Shangri La
This could be our finest hour
If only we could keep it together
We could find our way
Did we look better in black and white?
I don't know? I think so
I think I almost loved you then
That was such a long time ago
I shoulda called you I coulda wrote you
Just to know if you were alright
I know it's hard to stay on the highway
When you get off to look at the sights
So let's pretend we're still together
And We never said goodnight
Are you in there anymore my friend?
Are you in there anymore my friend?
This could be our finest hour
This could be our Shangri La
This could be our finest hour
If only we could keep it together
We could find our way
1:20 best moment 😉
This super super song great face melter of a guitar solo \""/
Now I see: Scott Gorham is the true "Gost Rider" :-D Leggins, a grey beard and a horse behind the venue ;-) An immortal guy as Keith Richards is ...
Lovit
the 'Corona-song''! give all you've got!
GREAT !!!!!!!!! Phil is back !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Phil is back? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!!! Good one!!! What a fucking farce.
I think BSR are a pretty good band, but in no way is Phil back, Phil was a once in a lifetime, a one of a kind, look, I've seen literally hundreds of bands, I can't remember what was so important that I didn't go, but one of my biggest concert regrets, is that when my singers from times past asked me if I wanted to go to the angel/thin Lizzy concert, I didn't go :(
Sounds like they are a radio hit. But I like it! :)
......очень хорошо, rock n' roll, жаль нет в этом проjectе Филла.
My birth of date. I was 55 years young :-)
Sometimes you gotta move on a bit, this is a great band with great songs and a great singer. They still embrace the legacy, and respect it, but its better to still hear what could have been, instead of nothing at all........
This is well done; had no problems when listening. Great musicians and realy well performed S H I T !! Shanahan my ass!!!
The 3 of them look like a combination of all the guys I used to get high with in college, and it's just a part of why I love them
Nickleback fans would like this...way to go nuclear blast!
they have two records out?
shaboda1973 That's right. "All Hell Breaks Loose" from 2013 and "The Killer Instinct" from 2015. Two solid records in my opinion.
Scott is twinkering ... ;-) did YOU ever think of why?
good lml
🤘🤘🤘😘
id rather hear this band then 98 percent of the shit they play on philly rock radio.i don't get the comparison with nickleback, scott Gorham could never be that gay.
You are the best 🇸🇪❤️
Good song by a good band. If the Mastering Engineer had done better job, I might even buy it.
cool as fuck :)
His vocals sound alot like Sykes' to me. Speaking of Sykes, wonder why he split with Scott and the Lizzy tribute project.
I might be mistaken but did Scott even take a lead break in this song?
Pedro147 I didn't see one. Rare for him.
Just had a thought ... if gorham died it would be like the situation with Phil, e.g. should they go on without Scott??? people would be saying "No gorham no BSR " just like they said "no lynott no lizzy" lol
rickyyyyyyyy!!!!!
33 seconds in and goodbye . Riding on the success of Lizzy ,Phil being the real Black Star .
No its NOT Thin Lizzy without Phil, that's why they are Black Star Riders.
John Stots Phil Lynott may have been the main man in Thin Lizzy but Scott Gorham made a major contribution to the Thin Lizzy sound, without him they wouldn't have sounded the way they did. If he wants to carry on using the ' Thin Lizzy sound' then I cant see a problem with that. If the music is good who cares what they are called?
I have got an excellent idea for you, DONT LISTEN TO THEM.
+Pube YOU ARE A PUBE
so where was scott's killer solos?
I didn't know Triple H fronted a rock band.
