I tried marinating in pineapple juice for five hours, used a fork to punch holes. I later put rub on it then grilled on highest settings turning once until 145. The family ate everything with no complaints. Thanks!
Wow that's a long time to marinate in the pineapple
wow 5 hours
was it rlly soft?
I marinaded in pineapple juice, garlic & my blend of Latinx ingredients overnight, uncovered, in the fridge.
Next day I cooked it by 1st baking it until it got to 125 degrees (medium rare). I then put them on my grill for a reverse seer/sear and when it was done, I pulled them off and let them rest for about 15-20 minutes.
Let me tell you, I was hosting a baptism dinner party and everyone, I mean everyone and no one, about 30 people, we are quiet.
Why? Because they were enjoying my steaks!!! Like what?!!?!? 😳 I was actually able to get 30+ Latinos to keep quiet for about 20 minutes?!?! Be still my heart! I was a hit that day and now every time there is a cook-out, lunch or dinner party, I’m always asked to bring my famous steaks. 😉

Thank you for the great tips ! I had no idea an eye of round steak could be tender !
Thank you for the first reply on my channel
I like the blind test, and ironically, the fact that you can see the difference between the third and the other two. Thanks!
Some good ideas here, admittedly have never tried to improve the cut, just salt, pepper, garlic powder and resign myself to a tough dinner. Will try this out!
Let me know how it turns out
That third steak looks amazing! I think the pineapple rub is an amazing idea! Great video, keep it up!
Any suggestions for a next cook?
Try using Ginger instead of pineapple it will also tenderizes meat. Ginger complements the flavor of beef and still tenderizes the beef
I usually pick these up when they're reduced price at the store due to imminent sell-by date, then chop them up and either stew them or add them to soup.
Just subscribed! I got a round roast/ I want to make steak and gravy over rice! I’m about to marinate it, then season it. But, I’m going to sear it first , then let it roast, all done in my Ninja 5-1 grill😳
I like how this video was done and the technique with the pineapple seems like a great idea. I have not watched your channel before and I really liked seeing what good pals you are with your daughter and hearing her input. I'll bet you're a great dad.
Ty man
Thank you for your video. I took your information and modified it a bit to cook 2 wonderfully tender and tasty eye of round steaks.
I trimmed all fat from the edges and removed any silver skin. Spacing 1/16” between rows, NEEDLE tenderize both sides. Moderately and evenly applied Accent (tenderizer) and Arnies of Texas Brisket rub.
Put in fridge for 2 hours. THEN room temp 30-40 mins.
Using my Pit Boss Pro Series 850, I smoked the steaks at 250° for 30 mins (flip @ 15 mins). I then kicked the heat to 400° and OPEN GRATES so flames were beneath the steaks. Flipping them meat often until they reached the desired temp (for us 140 -150°).
Tented for 8 minutes, sliced very thin and served. My wife loved them more than expensive cuts we had 7-10 days ago.
Beer and oinion is a very good method to tenderise meat.
Most handsome dad I've ever seen
The way to cook is explained well, music pulls your attention and it includes a fair assessment of the ingredients, I'm subscribed, good one.
Just saw this comment awesome 👌 glad you are here
I love how she's just going in on that 3rd one! hehehe
🤣
Good call leaving the shin on pineapple it has the most enzymes it can turn your meat into soft pudding if you leave it in long enough
I've been doing pineapple tenderizing for years. My cuts are about 1.5 inches and I do it for 1 hour and then clean it off. Dry it and then salt for 24 hrs. Then pepper and garlic, cook. 👍
Do you salt any point after the 24 hour dry brine?
I use pineapple juice and soy sauce for a couple hours, and it adds to the flavor, but I don't tenderize it any by poking it. Chinese restaurants get their weird texture beef by tenderizing it with baking soda, which also leaves a taste if you don't season and cook it well. I tried it on a steak, and it needed some strong flavor to hide the baking soda modification.
👍
In a different video on the topic, someone recommended papaya instead of pineapple. I tried it and it works like a charm. It doesn’t change the flavor of the meat.
How about baking soda to tenderize with the needle
Love your videos. Keep putting content out there for us.
I've used asian pear to tenderize before, never pineapple, but I will have too now! Maybe experiment again with the pineapple marinade without using thw tenderizer to see if it produces a more desirable texture?
Thank you! Yes i think i will have another video coming soon with different pineapple times maybe even skip the tenderizer.
ngl I like steak that just tears apart
Imma try this c:
First time cooking thanks for the tip pineapple 🍍 sounds good 👍 on it 🎉
If you don't have a fresh pineapple can you use cans pineapple?
I've heard you can
Did I miss something? How long did you leave it on the grill??
Looks delicious
when i smoked my eye of round it ended up being really juicy and not dry at all. Not sure how urs ended up dry. I only put salt pepper and garlic powder. But again i had a bigger cut so maybe next time try it with a bigger cut of meat.
if you cook it medium rare it can be okay
Love the video dude, keep it up! 👍
I’m going to have to try the pineapple. I wonder if you can do just canned pineapple.
I ordered ribeyes from the store and they brought eye of round. I'm not too happy, that's what I get for not having stores open 24 hours anymore when I could have just went myself if they were.
I hope you returned them lol. That's a very expensive mistake.
I just bought some on purpose thinking it was ½ of a ribeye cut. 7.99 per #
Maybe not use salt during the cooking for this kind of cut as you don't want to dry it out?
This actually worked their so soft, but I also had to tenderize them again after their pineapple bath. Hopefully they'll be this soft throughout the week. I used some of the marinate to make a sauce as well. I will definitely be making this again.
Great video man
Appreciate the comment!
Lighting and camera settings
I've been messing with this cut lately. Seems "rare" doesn't exist for it. I pulled a cut at 107° and it looked - and tasted - cooked all the way through.
Good vid but I suddgets using sparkling water instead of pina
fun vid! fun watch!
Ty
make beef jerky with this cut
I get a fork and stab the shit out of it to make it tender, ill let it soak in lime, sear it then cook super low, i take it off once you see the red juice coming out so it doesnr over cook, its easy to overcook and its tough
I love the pineapple marinade. It also works well for chicken (but for the chicken, I do not rinse it off...I throw it right on the grill or pan with it still on it for the sweet flavor). Thanx for posting (and nice job with the video & music that goes with it)!
I’m gonna start tenderizing my eye rounds...
I used to work on a cruise ship. Every Saturday me and the rest of the bar staff would core pineapples so the cruise passengers could drink a fancy drink out of them on the days we look at the lava flow or something. It's cold and windy, look at that orange streak in the distance... cool huh? Anyway, my entire front would inflame and turn red and be actually tender from the pineapples juices. I could see that caustic substance turning flesh into cream.
Pineapple tenderizes it into brisket lol
Does rinsing the meat wash off the pineapple flavor?
Most if it
@@RightWayBBQ oh okay, I thought it would've been a bit counter intuitive if it got rid of the flavor entirely.
😎
works with canned pineapple and is waaaay cheaper. just fyi.
Yes this would work well! The skin helps break It down but it would still do the job! Plus you don't have 3/4 of a pineapple left over !
@@RightWayBBQ Most of the online information says the preservatives used in canned pineapple destroy the tenderizing enzyme , bromelain. However, I marinaded an eye of round steak in canned pineapple 24 hours, did not wash the pineapple off, applied S&P and thyme, then pan fried it with onions and garlic. It was great.
Can you use lemon juice instead?
Nopers. Pineapple's got some crazy enzymes.
Trying the pineapple tonight, hopefully I get relatively the same results
Let me know. Also 30-40 minutes is enough time in the pineapple
@@RightWayBBQ Wasn't bad. Still a round steak, but easily chewed. Pan seared it, and basted until med rare. Thanks 👍
@@bhackaa thanks for the report bbq meat soldier!
@@RightWayBBQ I'd 100% recommend it to anyone making round steaks. I cut mine pretty super thick, and I would recommend going thin-med thickness. The pineapple didn't soak all of the way through for mine, but we're talking 3 inch or thicker steaks. You should try seltzer water marinade for an hour to. It works surprisingly well.
Try papaya. Doesn't smush up the steak like pineapple.
👍
papaya is so expensive
OMG. If my uncle ore grade parents ever seen me wash a steak like that they would shoot me. Lol. Thanks for the help. Happy holidays. God bless.
Pineapple are you razy
No more than one hour
What’s up with both of you eating with black gloves on..
Alot people wear gloves when grilling and grabbing meat up with their fingers.
Ö😋
I'm fucking over watching these trash videos on making steaks. Im gonna make a video soon and you all will thank me later
The best way to cook eye of round is to grind it with fatty chuck and then make a burger out of it😂😂😂
I prefer to leave it at the store so someone else can have a bad beef experience 😂😂
Sounds like overhandling bud
Maybe not be so controlling and let your wife speak a little bit more.
By perforating the meat you've now pushed bacteria from the outside to the inside and now require the meat to be cooked well done to be safe to eat. This a great way to ruin a good cut of meat
Oh bull. Got your shot didn't you?
Lmao you are such a pu$sy. Pathetic. You should be ashamed of yourself.
@VickiTakacs. Hey jackoff. What booster are you on? Definitely a democrat
who is she….
Also looks like you over cooked it
