Larry played homage to the early days of Hip Hop. He played this, Just Begun, Give it Up Turn It A Loose. Larry selection of records is what made him great....
Not being picky, just factual. The sound system is what made the garage special. Larry was the cherry on top due to his ecletic song selection. This is on the all time underground play list. Garage, Loft etc.
@@daimonmarioperez9501 I don't think he was paying homage to the early days of Hip Hop while playing these tunes at Garage. They were just funky funk/soul/R&B dance tunes (But then, maybe your're correct. We don't know where his head was in 1971-1972 when these songs were released, pre Garage of course). To my recollection, the hip-hop/rap crowd and the underground club crowds did not mix at all in the 80's or even now. IRREPLACEABLE!!!!!!!!!!!
A few years ago, Motown re-released the 1976 album "Joyful Jukebox Music" for the 1st time on CD as a limited edition of 5,000 copies that were numbered. This version was a bonus track.
Wow! I've never heard this version before... Ever! I owned this album as soon as it hit the record store. My mother saw to it that she got every single album they released. My bedroom wall was covered with Jackson 5 pictures. I was a follower(more than just a fan) and I remember distinctly when this album came out. The name of the album was "Get It Together" This is an interesting song better charting how their style was changing from 'bubble-gum- pop to a much more expansive sound... I like it though.. Nice joint,...
Let’s try this again. This song is on another level and told me, that the Jackson 5, were moving away from the Bubble-gum kiddie stuff and looking to attract a more mature audience and they kicked ass as they did so. There are times when listening to this song, I almost forgot this song was made by the Jackson 5. Randy was now a part of the group as they prepared to drop the 5 and become the Jacksons. Thanks for posting!
From the GIT album I played this a LOT! It has something hypnotizing. Another underrated track is "I am love" I think it's on the dancing machine album ... 👍
