- These little apple empanadas are so delicious and easy to make, they bring back sweet memories... my mom used to buy the little individually wrapped pies and we would put them in our lunch bag, and they are still one of my favorite, I hope you get to make some.❤
INGREDIENTS
1/4 C. white sugar
1/4 C. brown sugar
pinch nutmeg (about 1/8 tsp)
1 Tbsp. cornstarch
2 Tbsp. salted butter
1/4 tsp.vanilla extract
2 tsp. cinnamon
3 Gala apples
1 Double pie crust
GLAZE
1 1/2 cups confectioners sugar
3/4 tsp vanilla extract
3 Tbsp milk

Remembering way back almost 70 years I would sit on my Grandma's kitchen chair and watch her bake pies and cinnamon rolls. She was such a gentle woman and just loved to bake. I only have pleasant memories just like watching you bake. Thanks for your time and knowledge on baking. I'm sure you are the best on U-tube. Mouth is still watering and my heart is calming. I don't like sweets, but someone gave me gala apples. I followed your instructions and my apple empanadas were sooo gooood. They were gone in one afternoon. Thank you for your channel.
I use Granny Smith apples there sour so it’s not so sweet , cause sweet apples with both the sugars Are real sweet to me , there so good , I also make my apple pies with the Granny Smith apples
Here's a tip for you Rachel. I always use a melon baller to remove the cores from apples and pears, etc. works great. I do a lot of canning and this makes it go quicker.

Good tip, found it a day too late😆. Dehydrated a bunch of apples yesterday. Will definitely use your idea. Less waste too. I hate wasting anything!

So easy as they seem. Just a little bit of time, but so worth it for these hand pies. I make pasties which is a meat, potatoes along with onions topped with suete for flavor. These are English tradition for the miners lunch buckets. My grand father carried them when he was a miner in California mines of Grass Valley.

I've been wanting to try making the apple empanadas recipe
For quite some time. Actually it's been year's!
I usually make pumpkin or sweet potato empanadas
But only during the holidays.
I know it's the summer time and it's kinda too hot to be using the oven during the day time.
But, I am gonna make an exception and bake them early in the morning & would think it would be easier to prepare & assemble them until I'm ready to pop them into the j hot oven.
I mean, These empanadas would make a perfect summer dessert served up with a few scoops of vanilla bean ice cream drizzled with some Carmel sauce.

I'm sure that my family is going to appreciate the authenticity and love that's put right into everything we put on the table for them to enjoy.

Yum. They look so good. When I was a girl, back in the 1950s, my grandmother used to make apple turnovers with caramel sauce. Your recipe isn't really anything like them and yet it made me think of my Nanna. I must make some of your Apple Empanadas.

When I make this I will use dark brown sugar because it has more flavor. I never ever use light brown (or beige) sugar. Looks really good!!! Thank You Rachel!!

Hi Rachel. My grandsons and I made your empinadas except we didn't have good apples but have several very delicious peache trees.
We used your recipe to cook the peaches and added finely diced jalapenos and some tapioca. They came out very good. We made them a bit bigger using a pot lid.
I'm not sure jalapenos would be good with apples. The fruit stands near my home sell jalapeno jams and jellies.

I made these today. But I fried a few, and I baked a few, just so I can see if there was a difference. The taste was the same. Absolutely yummy.
Years ago, when I visited Austin, TX, Went to a fancy Chefs new Restaurant.
Dessert was a small hot Apple Tart with tiny cubed apples & jalapenos, served with vanilla ice cream.
WOW! What a great flavor, not overloaded with jalapeños, just enough to bring out flavor of cinnamon & spices, with being too hot on the mouth!!!
