I’ve always thought eggs were wicked cool, they’re blobs of proteins and fats in calcified shells but if you keep them under the right conditions they grow into fully functioning baby birds in less than a month.
Imagine a reptilian or birdlike alien civilization, they could "grow" citizens or colonists or soldiers as required, just put the eggs of the best in a giant incubator. Scary thought.
Sometimes a baby bird can get stuck in its shell, the usual way to help them hatch before they suffocate is to very very carefully drill a tiny hole through the shell into the air sac, but I imagine help from another baby bird works really well too, since they have experience hatching and all.
It looks like they are trying to help each other come out of the shells. Is that what I am seeing? I had never seen that happen before that was enlightening. Thank you that is neat to watch.

Yes they can and actually the sound of newly hatched birds will motivate others to hatch. It is one of the reasons we keep our younger chicks in a temporary brooder next to our incubator as we can here them responding to each other.
@@connoisseuroftigolbittswhat? Do you know the mortality rate for the goslings and ducks is if kept with mom? It's not like ppl don't try theses things; the geese abandon the nest before they even hatch most of the time, and the ducks don't have particularly good hatch rates even if they stay.

Cute little goslings. We just hatched our first duck eggs yesterday. Our daughter loves to follow the incubation of the eggs. Great way to cover beginning to end of incubation.

It's not about total movement vertically, it's about rotation, in which case they all get the same angular rotation.
